My dog is completely safe around other dogs, cats, and children. He would never hurt anyone. He was dumped by the side of the road in the dead of winter when he was a puppy... beaten and starved. He shied away from my husband's hand (afraid of being hit), until he learned that all humans aren't monsters and that we would never hurt him.

Pits were ACTUALLY just a bully breed in the early 1800s and they were bred for bull baiting, where the dog would wear the bull out and people thought this would tenderize the meat pre slaughter. Soon it was outlawed which led to rat pits where the dog was placed in a pit where it would kill as many rats as it could, recieving the prefix pit to the name. Then the dog was bred with a terrier making it a Pit Bull Terrier, then people kept breeding the dog for beauty, others bred them to fight.
It breaks my heart to see such friendly and loyal dogs treated so badly. Even the name "pit bull" is misunderstood by most people. These dogs were not orignally fighters, they were placed in pits so that people could bet on how many RATS the dog could catch.
Wealthy families would train a pitbull as a "nanny" to help watch the children.
These fuzzy little guys deserve all the love you can give them as they truly are your best friend.

He is the sweetest dog and he is never mean or aggressive. My mom has a 3 yr old jack russel terrier and she has attacked my son and bit him and my pit has never attacked him once even though my son plays rough with him. We all need to get the word out that pits are kind gentle dogs no what the media say

I think it's disgusting what people do to these dogs. I've got a Staffordshire bull terrier and she's as dull as a brush. Someone should take 20 pit bulls and about 10 of these videos and see what the BSL says about it. Keep watching these videos and get them noticed.
Statistics show that Pit Bulls are high on the list of all fatal dog attacks, BUT no one ever mentions that Pit Bulls represent 9.6% of the total canine population or roughly 6 MILLION. Rottweilers, Chows, Shepherds or Dobermans don't come close. The more dogs there are of any breed, the more likely that dog may be involved in an attack. If we added 6 million Chows and gave 1 million of those Chows to criminals, doesn't it make sense that Chows would be involved in a high % of fatal attacks?

They are the absolute best companions in the world. Everyone please adopt one from your local shelter to help give them a chance!! So many like these in the videos get put to sleep every single day because there are so many in need of loving homes. When I see pics of pitbulls fighting I cry only thinking about how loyal they are and to what extent they will go to for their owners. Then their owners stand back and make money and could give less of a Shi# about the dogs feelings :(
