  • It's like George Lucas, Peter Jackson, and Stanley Kubrick joined forces.

  • Between WCIII and IV, these are still the best examples of FMV use in games. Quality acting from quality actors.

  • amazing cast, and for it's day - the first real successful attempt to integrate Real Actors into a video game. I <3 this so much when it came out. Looks soooo dated 17 odd years later, but as they said - boyyyy does it bring back some memories.

  • Man, this brings back memories. When we first saw this it blew us away.

  • One person was assigned to Caernarvon station from WC2

  • @wd40isgreat hey mate, I don't think Tolwyn was being choosey with who he put into covert ops, especially since the Kilrathi were about to launch an assault on Earth but thanks to your stellar flying don't...YAY save the world again lol

  • I though Colonel Blair has BLUE HAIR, and that Angel was a Captain now. The Captain of the CONCORDIA.....

  • the judge, from Liar Liar!

  • Does it bother anyone else how few ribbons Blair has in WC3 and WC4? You'd think a Colonel who's been fighting in the same war for year with tons of distinction would have more than just those three.

  • @aavallone

Yeah, but when your supreme commander hates your guts more than he hates the aliens trying to wipe out humanity and will strip you of everything on a whim, it's a surprise that Blair even made it to Colonel.

  • @graph180 If you played the first two WC games you'd see how Blair made it to Colonel again and won tons of decorations. It doesn't make sense for him to have so little on his uniform - when Tolwyn demoted him he didn't strip him of any awards, just his rank.

  • @aavallone

I don't know...if a guy is dick enough to demote you and to send you to backwaters, stripping you of your medals doesn't seem that far below him. Tolwyn is just such an ass that it makes one wonder why the Confed didn't build a ship that ran on douchebaginess and install him as the the power core.

  • @graph180 Maybe, but that's not what happens in the game so it's irrelevant.

  • @aavallone

In that case we have a huge albatross on the flight deck: what happened to all of Blair's medals and commendations? Did they get blown up? Where they stolen by oddly specific Kilrathi infiltration units? Does the Confederation make their medals out of bread and fruit, so they just rotted away? This is a big mystery!

It should be the plot of one of the novels: "Wing Commander: The Search for My Goddamn Medal".

  • Thank you Spoonyone for telling me about this series.

  • LOL; And we thought news was going the way of Big Brother; Sadly I doubt future news would ever do anything but cater to those "making the decisions."

  • LOL There will NEVER be a news broad cast THAT honest or concise broadcasted EVER now or in the future.

  • Wow I've only played the First Wing Commander and it's secret missions and Prophecy...I just finished watching Vengence of the Kilrathi ...but this looks like the start of a massive decline!!!

  • @saquist Actually, this and IV (Price of Freedom) is the Wing Commander series at it's peak.

You play as Mark Hamill. How cool is that?!

  • @admtm24

Then why does it look so Cheesey? I really like Prophecy....

  • @saquist

what the hell are you talking about

  • @AlfredRusselWallace

What you didn't notice the College Mascot posing as Hobbs?

  • @saquist This came out when game graphics were just being made 3d. That said, the series was actually a very good series. The combination of live cinematics and cgi game effects were far superior to other games that had a fmv feel to them. Also, this was made in the early 90's, late 80's.

  • OMG HE HAS an iPad? Haha ... :D :D :D

  • I thought the same thing! :-D

  • does anyone know how to get this game running in XP? ive got it booted fine, that isnt a problem....its just running this old DOS software is somewhat....frustrating.

  • I am pretty sure the guy with the white hair is the same person as the president of the enclave from fallout 3.

  • that's Malcolm McDowell. He's been in a lot of things.

  • I knew his name was Malcolm though.

  • Yeah, he was the president in Fallout 3. If you want to see him in his prime, check out his performance as Alex DeLarge in "A Clockwork Orange".

  • I could never understand why Roberts didn't use this first class cast when he made the Wing Commander movie? The story was terrible and they should have based it on Heart of the Tiger.

  • Because directors have go and "interpret" the source material

  • Absolutely.

He made a MASSIVE mistake changing the cast for the movie, it deserved to fail!

  • Poor Hobbes. He really was the best. Loved these games.

  • I never got around to playing this game, as I neither had a PC or a 3DO. They were too expensive at the time, not like nowadays. The only computer I could afford was an Amiga A500 and that was second hand. Although I do remember seeing some of these cut scenes in a TV for Panasonic's 3DO and I really wanted one!! lol Good thing I didn't, as it was 1 of the first consoles to flop as I remember. Maybe I will be able to get hold of this game on Ebay or download it from somewhere perhaps?

  • Well, the 3DO may have flopped but, my bedroom remained tightly closed to the public for about 3 months due to me playing this and Need for Speed 1.

REAL immersive game and a milestone in contemporary gaming!

  • Ah brings back memories. I hated when I had to kill Hobbes. But I loved 'accidently' blowing Maniac out of the air every time I had to fly with him.

  • I thought the plottwist with Hobbes was the most infuriating twist in a game, before or since.

  • Agreed, I liked Hobbes more than anyone else.

  • I love the TCS Victory. Never seen a carrier like it since.

  • Same. Awesome game.

  • LOVED THIS GAME! GOOD OLD TIMES

  • yheeee love it!!!! thanks man!!!

  • Hell yeah ^^
