When i use to buy server editions of red hat it was exclusive to gnome verses kde and others is it still that way? and i hope no one says it's designed for business it uses same openoffice as the other distros and uses alot of same apps but if you want a nice made os to pay for this is good, some people still swear red hat is the best OS, not true but red hat is still good OS
Why will i choose RHEL5 (RPM based) and pay for it, over Ubuntu (Deb Base) and is free of charge, with a considerable community that can help me?
And Ubuntu offers me the same things RHEL 5 does, the difference is if I need technical support or something different, RHEL is the way, because i'm paying not for the OS but for other services.
2) rpm is the best package management, if u disagree you are disagreeing with enterprise standards
3) apt-get is for your typical home/hippie user
4) the linux community should focus more on a single linux distro(rpm) and the user base would be greater than already is, and not making more bugshit distros, like the other 1000 other distros who no one gives a fuck about it
@SneakyTweaky "people like you shouldn't install Linux." What are ya talking about? People shouldn't install Linux just because it has compiz effects? Are you insulting us?! Well, I think... You should install something BETTER than Linux in your machine. And I hope you may find one.
Definitely I dont use linux because of visual effects. And in my opinion, sure also for my needs, there is nothing better than linux.
Anyway Im not insulting anyone, I just corrected a misleading information on this video, because every linux distro have this "Capabilities", just install compiz. And there are a lot of other linux distros out there better than redhat and for most important, they are FREE.
I don't see what's the difference...openOffice, wireless connection, compiz fusion... SO??? Ubuntu, Fedora, and other distributions can do the same.... you should focus on security and stable issues...
i gotta ask, i run rhel 5, but i cant for the life of me figure out how you managed to install that, could you send me a private message or something explaining what you are running? It looks like beryl or something related to it or compiz, lil help?
not exactly, you could use RHEL Desktop for normal users that would like support from Red Hat, RHEL Server is for business although the Desktop one could be used for business as well. Fedora is part of Red Hat but without Red Hat support (community supported). Ubuntu is community supported only.

You call that effects of RHEL that is compiz you dumb & for you info Ubuntu & others also come pre-installed.
Also if you want support Ubuntu also provides commercial support which also helps the free development of Ubuntu.
If you want totally free binary compatible OS with RHEL go for Cent OS

I'd stick to a consumer distribution (like Fedora, OpenSuSE, or Ubuntu), as enterprise distros tend to cling on to ancient versions of software.

This is just compiz, you could at least have installed a decent theme, window manager, background and did some tweaking on the compiz effects.
