For succumbing so easily to western European musicality ...your ancestors would be horrified .. Then you criticise the Greeks for still playing the tunes with the old instruments , whilst at the same time claiming the newer Bulgarian musical style is the original ...this is not logical ????
To bgpobeda Just because you grew up hearing the tunes played i'n this manner does not mean it's the original sound.. Do u imagine that when the Slavs arrived i'n the Balkans i'n the 6th century / they brought with them / accordions / clarinets / guitars etc ....obviously not ....they didn't bring the reed pipe , lyre , oudi or bagpipes either You should be please that the Greeks for the most part still try to use the original instruments ....And be questioning the Bulgarians and Serbs ,
The tendency i'n the 19th century to use more modern instruments such as , accordion , trumpets , clarinet , even the violin is a phenomenon common to all areas of folkmusic i'n all the Balkans ....it's more marked I'm Bulgaria since 1912 and even more so i'n Serbia and Rumania / but the rhythms and tunes unchanged...it happens i'n Greece also but less so so far ...
With the 6th century Slav settlement amongst the NOW Greek and vlach speaking THRACIANS population ... Along with large scale language shift from Greek to Slavic ... They too assimilated the local music , instruments and folklore into there culture ..... Thus we are all brothers my Freind / it doesn't matter who was first i'n the region

This melody is greek from Eastern Rumelia (North Thrace). Specifically Thracian Greek and East Macedonian Greek. Of course, melodies from the same region can be traced today in Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia and Fyrom. Music is just culture, not nationalism.
It's Thracian but not Greek at all. This sounds are typical only to Bulgarian people. As Greek Thracian and Turkish Thracian music sound differently from this melody, this is not Greek but typical Bulgarian music.
There are thousands of musicologist and ethnologist studies about Greek Thracian music. Google it. Moreover, some of my ancestors have been brought up with exactly this music, they all spoke Greek and many of them fought for Greece against either the Bulgarian komitajis or the Turkish rulers. Today many Greeks dance and sing exactly this music. Anyway, let's just enjoy music from Thrace and leave the past behind. People should be brothers, not enemies.
The Bulgarian Sounds of rhythm - 5/8", 7/8", 9/8" and 11/8" P.P.P. is traditional Here on the Balkan and Anatolia more from 200 000 years - "this is the music of Great Bulgarian King ISKAN DAR".
Bulgarian folk suits, Symbols, folk instruments, rituals is available Here on the Ura-Ara "ARIA" BULGARIA (south Bulgaria Elada)

@babaliuga It seems like Bulgarian, because this band tried to create music similar to Bulgarian. Real music of Thrace, is very different....
