  • in my vid (it is my only one)

is the apache very close too

  • i would be crazy of excitement if i would see that

  • Great camera work by the way. Thumbs up!

  • more like sub-sonic.

  • Not supersonic, for that you need A LOT more height. Not sure but, I think it is about 0.7 supersonic the maximum posible at that height.

  • @TheAjdelvalle84 Now this is an interesting point. I've never heard the suggestion that you can't achieve supersonic speeds at low altitude. With enough speed this should be possible, no?

  • @jondiorio The F-18 Super Hornet can go Mach 2.34 at height and Mach 1.2 at sea level. Although TheAjdelvalle84 is correct in that at height, due to the thinner atmosphere, supersonic flight is far easier to achieve.

  • @johnods1 Thanks for the info. That makes perfect sense.

  • @jondiorio No problem. By the way, I would have paid to be on that boat hahaha.

  • @jondiorio Considering you don't hear it until it's abeam you, I'd go far enough to say it's barely supersonic.. Right?

  • @jondiorio With such air density at low altitudes, it's likely possible, but not without causing damage to the aircraft.

  • @TheAjdelvalle84 Actually, call me crazy, but I think I saw a mach cone...

  • @TheAjdelvalle84 Sorry but that is not correct, I have flown supersonic in the F-4 and F-16 on the deck.

  • Yes indeed, probably somewhere from .95 to .99 supersonic. Just a hairs breath away from the sound barrier.

  • That was fast, but it was not supersonic.

  • not super sonic

  • That was gnarly...

  • wasnt super sonic

  • THIS IS ONE REAL AWESOME VIDEO WOW GOTTA BE ONE OF THE BEST ON YOUTUBE!!!!

  • The jet. Aint that a neat invention? Who's with me on this?

  • That's not supersonic. Probably .97 Mach.

  • HOLY SHIT! i woulda shit myself from excitement if i was on that boat!

  • @lucci97 I nearly did!

  • @lucci97 hahahahah seriously though!!

  • Is that even legal? To be flying that low and that close to civilians?

  • @Deflection hes in a jet, you wanna try and stop him? lol

  • Shit I blinked.

  • Yeah, if that was super-sonic you wouldn't have heard it until after it passed and you would hear it in the form of an explosion followed by bloody ear drums.

  • That is clearly not supersonic. It is illegal to go supersonic over populated land

  • and the scary part is, they can go faster

  • What city is this in? Florida?

  • @jflor98 San Francisco...Golden Gate Bridgeoff in the distance..

  • if there just happend to be a rich constipated bastard on his crapper in his yat when he flew over, well not anymore haha

  • Not supersonic, but still badass. Oorah.

  • well below supersonic

  • @backintack look for the ring he was transonic probally 2 mph away from killin all them people haha

  • @gokarter57275 that was condensation

  • @backintack are you retarted that was the sound barrier building pressure

  • @gokarter57275 it was a vapor cone. they dont fly faster than 700mph (sneak pass) at any show.

  • @backintack really caise i have been to mulltiple air shoes in georgia where they fly by doing a high speed pass going transonic roughly 758mph

  • @gokarter57275 well im a pilot....

  • @backintack cool what do you fly commecial private military. and what plane

  • @gokarter57275 private...im 15. c172. have flown a 2003 King air 350 and a 20008 hawker 400xp

  • It was close to the speed of sound. Still awesome!

  • Didnt think ANY aircraft was alowed to go supersonic except in certain zones. And im pretty sure that the bay is not in that zone

  • That was sub sonic. NO BOOM. still cool

  • it broke barrier at the perfect moment for this cameraman

  • If it was going supersonic at that altitude that close to you, your ears would bleed, you would probably go death, and it would probably knock you off the boat if not capsize it.

  • You're lucky that plane didn't go supersonic at that height. Your ears would be useless by now :)

  • Bing fu**in Crosby

  • @Sprebound Bing Crosby?

  • that was cool!

  • if it was supersonic your eardrums would have fell out your ass PERIOD!

  • @diplomatic4 OK give the guy a break! it was 100 ft must of sounded like supersonic

  • @diplomatic4 agree

  • .99

  • using maths calculating the distance from the bridge to the dock, then how long it took,

the plane was doing 17,000 kilometres an hour

    I failed maths :/

  • Not allowed to break the barrier except in war time or over the open ocean. He was close to supersonic. The Vapor cone on the back of the plane was created by shock waves creating a low pressure which causes the air to cool to its dew point and then moisture is released. A vapor cone has nothing to do with being supersonic! It's simply hydrodynamics.

  • wow

  • :06

  • swweeetttt im goin to oceana this weeend!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 100 foot low

  • $500 says that guy didn't snap his picture fast enough...

  • If it was actually supersonic, everyone's eardrums would have ruptured, and any glass would have broken at such a close distance.

  • that was fucking awsome

  • you know what would be more epic? if all the boats turned over when the jet flew by. LOL!

  • @bredstick2 hahaha

  • The guy tried to time his picture. Probably by the time he snapped it, the pilot was having a drink at the officer's club.

  • Downvoted for fake title.

  • @gummy0021 I know it wasnt supersonic thats been my whole point. I know the parameters for the maneuver thanks to Len Anderson.

  • not even close to supersonic.. the low sneek pass is done at 550-600 KIAS Stll fun as hell to watch :D

  • i saw a f-16 thunderbird i think fly so low it almost hit the building i was standing next to lol

  • i like how the guy in the beginning tries to flip out his camera when he spots the plane. as soon as he spots it, it is already gone haha

  • not supersonic, just fast, the vapour cone shape seen on the aircraft is just from the moisture in the air found so close to the water. These can appear at many speeds and altitudes

  • its not supersonic, and those pictures with the vapor penumbra are not supersonic either , there are no videos from the ground of a low flying super sonic flyby, just doesnt happen, well maybe one, and that f-18 was destroyed when it pulled up, its around youtube somewhere, these are all spectacular enough without hyping them

  • wasnt close to sonic boom

  • This was just under supersonic... not completely supersonic

  • Funny how people post videos without a clue what a sonic boom is.

  • Comment removed

  • @94phenom why yes he did read the title.......

  • @94phenom yo dumbahh

  • when Obama was in Seattle, 2 F15s broke the sound barrier on an emergency call. This was not even close. Trust me, a sonic boom shakes EVERYTHING.

  • @mbudd121 I wish I heard them break the sound barrier. when i heard about it on the news I was like. WTF when did this happen.

  • my volvo is faster....ppfftt

  • @rextar23 It's probably a lot safer too!

  • that was not super sonic it was 0.9 mach almost super sonic see the vapor around the airplane thats a strong indication that the plane is still sub sonic.

  • man that was awesome, i'd love to see that in person, love that sound

  • If he was Supersonic nobody there could here a thing by now^^

  • Are you allowed to do that in the US! My God!

  • @98pup100 no, no military aircraft is allowed to break the sound barrier in land or in populated areas. The Blue angel was flying about 700 mph.

  • @crazypk40 they do have test ranges inland where they can break the sound barrier

  • @phil656565 ohhh right.... I forgot about that! thanks

  • @98pup100 nope u can't in the US. and that wasn't super sonic

  • I think he was going pladd

  • I will say this though. As someone in this field, virtually if not all low pass fly bys over civilian populated areas such as this are not supersonic by regulation. They are typically near supersonic, around 700 mph. Supersonic speed (peed of sound) is 741 mph at sea level. If you're lucky eough to be off shore however such as on a carrier, you will get to experience a true supersonic fly by and you will know of from the sonic boom and halo. There will be no doubt.

  • aculy that was probly at the supersonic marker not above not below becouse the sound came at exacly the same moment as when the f-18 was parelell to them. Please excuse my spelling i typed it fast and i dont wana go correct it.

  • @hawk0920 The correct terminology is transonic. (I'm just saying so you know in the future)

  • almost trans-sonic

  • GOD DAMN i had my headphones on

  • SUBSONIC .99 WHY DOES EVERYONE THINK ITS SUPERSONIC IT GRINDS MY GEARS I REALLY WISH IT WAS SUPERSONIC SO THAT OLD FART WOULD HAVE ON DEAF AND THE LENS IN THAT CAMERA WOULD HAVE SHATTERED

  • that speed was subsonic, not supersonic.

  • holy cow !

  • Dat was amazing!!!!

  • not super sonic.. know that super sonic is hell loud boom. only you can hear jet suck air that's it

  • Repeat after me everyone who is posting:" If there is no sonic boom then it is a SUBSONIC pass".

  • great video...but its not supersonic.

  • Makes me feel happy that they are on our side..btw,def from fleet week.

  • pause at second 6, the jet was about to break the sound barrier

  • Comment removed

  • Thats so bad ass. Why would anybody want to fuck with that.

  • Great view regardless.

  • Not supersonic retard.

  • They rarely break the sound barrier at air shows. Unless the airshow is out in podunk nowhere. Breaking the sound barrier also breaks windows. The vapor cone does not mean the sound barrier was broke. It means that the jet was very close. The vapor cone is the condensation building up on the derailed compressed air when the air doesn't have enough time to contour the body of the jet.

  • How many idiots does it take to keep telling this guy that Solo 5 wasnt supersonic?.....the world, may never know.

  • @AmJaxineer AMEN!!!

  • @jondiorio here's an idea, change the title so you dont miss lead people into clicking on your videos.

  • @AmJaxineer If the plane actually reached supersonic, the sound barrier would break, causing a series of very loud pops, that would damage the hearing of the onlookers... which is why performance teams are not aloud to demonstrate at these speeds near people. Due to faa regulations and navy policy the blues never fly a show that requires them to exceed 600 mph near crowds a safety rule implamented in 1999. you might have misunderstood mph for knotts.

  • @rockmasterdan1993 Why are you telling me this? I already know that. My comment was made to critcize all the people on here that keep thinking and saying he's going supersonic. Number 5 reaches around 690kts or so as low as 50ft for the sneak pass. And I didnt say anything in my post about mph vs kts. Fact is if he was going faster than the speed of sound, one would see the plane go by before the sound of it did...and its booms.

  • @AmJaxineer the other video is not super sonic but in this video looks supersonic

  • @AmJaxineer God bless you. And to build on your point... who cares?!?! It's a cool video.

  • @AmJaxineer How many idiots does it take to keep claiming that any fast jet is supersonic? The world knows they far outnumber the intelligent people who have some grasp of physics.

  • looks like the sneak pass during Fleet Week

  • @SoccerBoy77 That's exactly what it was. SF Bay.

  • Love the sneak pass! Nice shot!

  • i.....love......jets XD

  • hearing damage ?

  • He's not supersonic he's definitely well in to transonic speeds probably around M0.95ish, he was pretty much at you when you heard it, but not past you... still props on the spot and great timing must have been a thrill and yes watching their practice runs comes in handy especially when out on the boat. Great vid 5 stars!

  • hell it's so fast !

  • gahd damn that woulda made my weekend!!! cocktail time,, i need a drink after that

  • if that was supersonic then the people that made the video would not be able to hear anymore, you should hear the bang from a jet going super sonic and then tell me if you believe that was supersonic...

  • That would be funny if he dropped a bomb right there!

  • @DarkFuryPunisher how would that be funny?

  • Good footage. Definitely subsonic, though. If you hear it before it's passed you, it isn't supersonic. ;)

  • Beautiful!

  • that is not supersonic...if not...it'll crush ur ear drum already

  • o.0

  • Killer - wow. Awesome!!!

  • Not super sonic but pretty sweet video none the less

  • @bzubrod Ummm yes it was, if you pause it at 0:06 you can see the sound barrier being broken. Awesome video!

  • @MooreProductionsMP3

the blue angels or any military aircraft for that matter never break the sound barrier, during an air show.

  • @MooreProductionsMP3 Do you really want to play this game with a licensed commercial pilot? A few things...1) I hope you realize that you cant 'SEE" the sound barrier or it being broken. The cloud that you see is what happens when the water vapor around the air being evaporated by the heat generated from the friction of the jet moving through the air. It usually happens on days with high relative humidity and can occur at really any airspeed. Happens on airliners all the time.

  • @bzubrod Lol whatever D-bag, calm down.

  • @MooreProductionsMP3 ouch lol

  • @bzubrod Before you flame someone for incorrect descriptions, you should review your facts, too. Yeah, you're a commercial pilot, whatever. I'm an aero engineer. It's not caused by evaporation by heat. Do you really think airliners taking off produce vapor because they're going so fast that it's caused by heat? I'm sorry, but at V2 you're going so slow that cars and trains move faster than that. No significant heat there. It's caused by pressure, not heat.

  • @zwitter345 I stand semi-corrected by the engineer. It does have to do with pressure and/or temperature.

  • @zwitter345

Also as far as your V2 Comment...

    V2 Minimums...

VR plus the speed increment attained (in accordance with §25.111(c)(2)) before reaching a height of 35 feet above the takeoff surface; and

    (3) A speed that provides the maneuvering capability specified in §25.143(h) [This means in a clean configuration on 1 engine (2 or 3 if you are a 3 or 4 engine aircraft)].

  • @bzubrod The latter examples are exactly what I'm talking about. I'm not trying to tread on your feet, but I'm just saying...

  • @zwitter345 I have never been in a commercial jet, that does not reach at least 80 kts before even hitting V1 so I think its safe to say that at V2 you are traveling a little faster than a car would, unless you drive your car down the road at 100 kts+. Unless you want to really get technical and go with a NASCAR or Formula one car, or a bullet train in Europe or Asia for the train reference. Ill give you those.

  • @MooreProductionsMP3 2.) No aircraft is allowed to break the sound barrier over any populated area and the only place over the continental United States that military aircraft are allowed to do it is in an active MOA (Military Operations Area) and only above a specified altitude. They are NEVER allowed to go passed Mach 1 that low, or over a populated area, OR at an airshow. Last...you would have heard a sonic boom...and at that low the boat would have shook.

  • @MooreProductionsMP3 Why do people have this misconception that if water vapor condenses around an aircraft, then the aircraft is breaking the sound barrier? Its the same principle that causes the contrails behind a jet at high altitudes. Make sure you know what you are talking about before you say it.

  • @bzubrod with all that said....its still a bad ass video!

  • Me likee

  • I believe bloke in frame was trying to get his camera prep'd once he got sight of him...obviously didnt think to get it done before he came into view, cause they don't stick around long at that speed! nice. My interview for pilot selection in the RAAF starts tomorrow!

  • Bloody amazing how fast they can go.

  • hey was that at charelston bridge??

  • @steelsword100... Golden Gate Bridge

  • @jondiorio Me thinketh someone needs some SERIOUS geography lessons, eh? :) Way to stay composed...

  • all of a sudden my 1000cc streetbike feels slow....

  • That's what I call haulin' ass.

  • he was def in the 600-740 mph range

  • Haulin', but subsonic, like nearly every single YT video labeled as being 'supersonic'.

You guys had a seriously good vantage point, though! Good footage!

  • Thanks. It took years to figure out the positioning vs their routine. Watching the practice runs definitely helps.

  • @coma13794 it was super sonic you saw the plane an then heard the sound which means the plane was moving faster than the sound

  • @jessellanos787 if the plane was 20mph below the speed of sound, do you think you'd be able to tell based on the arrival of the sound? No.

    1) There was no double boom. 2) The Blues don't fly supersonic during their shows. The sneak pass is just below supersonic...every time. 3) If it was supersonic, directly overhead, and that altitude, it's unlikely that the response would've been "woohoo."

Find some real over-water supersonic footage and notice the completely different sound with the booms

  • @coma13794 to add there was no movement of the boats

  • It saddens me that I will never be as amazingly awesome as that pilot.

  • he is transonic

  • Does it matter, just enjoi the awesome-awesomeness!!!!

  • if he went supersonic there would have been a sonic boom. and there was a sonic boom they would most likely be bleeding from their ears. not good not good
