It was pretty original adding ensemble members to the scene, but it sort of takes attention off the main actors, I really wanted to see them singing, you cant really call this a full scene
Yea I know what you mean about the muscle-suit, it kind of did look awkward. "Gaston" did give an incredible performance in any case. I've been looking around at other B&TB videos and honestly I have yet to see this role as well done as in this particular show. Of course I haven't seen it on Broadway or in a theatre but still, pretty much everyone I know who saw any of the performances agreed the guy who played Gaston was exceptional.
Pretty good. Ive never seen villagers i that scene.. interesting choice. Personally, I cant stand when they put a "muscle suit" on Gaston. It looks unnatural and awkward.
I think it's strange that the director chose to include the villagers here. The point of the song is that Gaston (whom everyone thinks is a hero) is secretly plotting an evil, villainous scheme with D'Arque. It's weird to see the villagers watching and listening and nudging each other, like they're discussing it and taking bets on whether the plot will work! The pacing of the song is also painfully slow. (Nothing against the son of the guy filming it, of course)
I was filming my son, as I said in the other comment. Pulling back the camera and focusing on the entire stage, or the characters who were singling would have eliminated him from most of the shot, as he was in the ensemble. This was not an attempt to film the entire musical, but only record his part in it.
Uhh...no offense to your son...but the middle of the video is again, awkward, as the shot is focused on a ensemble who isn't doing anything...if Darque, Lefou, and Gaston are singing, shouldn't the shot be focused on them?
