Seriously people. I'm pretty sure if the animal were smart enough to understand the concept of captivity, it still might appreciate the easily accessible food and the complete lack of predators. It's entire life is basically finding food and escaping danger, not seeing how far it can swim.

She's very beautiful. However, I don't believe in keeping cephalapods at pets. Octopus are very intelligent creatures. She is probably very aware that she is in a box from the way she feels her way around the walls of the tank. These creatures are beautiful and majestic, and even though I would love to have one in my company, I could not bring myself to hold one in captivity knowing that it would flourish in the ocean.

@cynthx Actually, greater than 95 percent of octopi never make it to sexual maturity in the wild. There are too many other creatures that love to consume them. Subsequently, I would have to opine that she has a very lovely home and she is an extremely fortunate little octopus.

Octopuses are very hard to look after, takes about 3months of tank prepping they are as smart as a puppy dog, they are usually nocturnal as well they live for about 1 or 2 years max they are professional escape artists, if you have a tank of fish beside it.. can get out get into next door eat the fish and get back into its own tank again. research how tiny the holes they can get into holes as small as a penny or a 5cent piece of your an Aussie.
