i played ff xiii first time on my friends ps3. but i thought, doesnt look as a good game. but after all, i bought it for my xbox bc i really liked past ff's. AND IT WAS BEST MOVE I MADE SO FAR. This game start getting better and better the more you play it, and music is literally legendary..
Why do people hate this game so? Sure it's linear and definitely not the best in the series, but it's good! Good battle system, good storyline, good graphics. So many hated it but I thought it was enjoyable. I feel that the reason so many hated it is because it was so hyped up and looked to be some godly game. This game could never have lived up to the hype it was receiving, so when it came out, everyone hated it and some call it worse than XII. They failed to realize that this is a GOOD FF GAME

@NeroRebellion I finished playing XIII-2 today, I hope you get the game done soon, the ending is well worth it. XIII-2's storyline wasn't as strong, but it was good, but a bit shorter than XIII's. I really hope they continue on the story in upcoming dlc, if they make another game after XIII-2 it's gonna get so much hate, but it'd be really good.

Quite possibly the most under appreciated score of the FF series. It's so melancholic and enchanting; Hollywood caliber without a doubt. Despite the ADHD battle system, this certainly compensates. I'm playing it now in anticipation for XIII-2.
@thefrozenturd I really enjoyed this game, and that's coming from one who also loved the Squaresoft classics, Vi, VII and VIII. I don't know why people can't get over the fact that times change and games change with it. It is possible to be a fan of both . .

@silver37000 No it isn't. Most of the negative response comes from the dreadfully linear gameplay and complete lack of exploration in the first 10 chapters of the game. For me, the battle mechanics were the best of the series, and I have played every Final Fantasy title. What leaves a sour taste in the mouth is how good this game might have been if they would have opened it up a bit more. Its sort of like Final Fantasy 10 in that regard

@silver37000 The gameplay really is terrible. The battles are just too long-winded compared to the better JRPGs out there. As well as that, almost every area is just walking from point A to point B. Having said that, I would recommend renting the game, just to find out if you like it or not :)
yeah FF13 was awesome but it has that linearity and lacks the ability to switch party leader in real time battle , but FF13-2 would be the best cos it learned from it's predecessor then added the command of party leader switching and erased the linear gameplay.

@laharlfy I hate how they linear tutorial you for the first 2 discs. I hope they learned better for XIII-2. Actually, we should really give this console a wake-up call about what a good story is like, and re-make FF7 for this generation. @Danieldx22 while I like the idea of having different roles, and combining cinematics into the combat system, it's repetitive and most of the time you just have to rely on mashing the auto attack button. Previous FFs you could at least control all characters in a battle.

I wonder why you placed characters from final fantasy versus XIII in this slideshow, but its okay. This music is amazing and indeed, its so very calming and soothing.
I don't really like the story in FF XIII, but I got to say that FF XIII, got the most beautiful grafics, soundtracks and charathers in any game I've ever played. (well, besides FF VII of course)
FF 13 wasn't the most memorable of soundtracks in the series, but this main theme is a gem. Then again, compared to any other game or game franchise, the soundtrack blows most away.
What Mario did for catchy melodies and fun tunes, recent Final Fantasies have done for deeper harmonies from piano and orchestra. I say recent because older games in the series weren't on platforms to support the sound. Who doesn't love FF7 or Chrono Trigger tunes?

yeah FF13 was awesome but it has that linearity and lacks the ability to switch party leader in real time battle , but FF13-2 would be the best cos it learned from it's predecessor then added the command of party leader switching and erased the linear gameplay.

this song sounds....... bittersweet. It brings up memories of the past, the missed experiences, the regrets, it brings up a sense of a faraway golden land that was your past, and the longing to go back. This song is absolutely beautiful.

XIII-2 will have free-roam element, but not enough Lightning!

I love the fact that everybody says this game sucks and that they compare it to other Titles in the FF series.Just because it not like the other means it sucks?Plus not all Rpgs have exploration so not having exploration doesn't mean its not totally a RPG.God I hate to see in almost every one of these vid i see a comment like game sucked ass but so and so was good.Guys just because its different doesent mean its bad,look at persona3 that was one of the best RPGs I've ever played and its alot dif

I'm playing FFXIII and it's certainly enjoyable.

@laharlfy I hate how they linear tutorial you for the first 2 discs. I hope they learned better for XIII-2. Actually, we should really give this console a wake-up call about what a good story is like, and re-make FF7 for this generation. (except I think if we made a game with FF7's story and gameplay but FFXIII-2 graphics, it would tear the fabric of reality...)

its a brilliant theme. At some points in the game it does capture a sense of dreamlike wonder but i didnt like it overall. Gameplay was terrible.

I didn't mind the gameplay. It adds a little depth while still making it accessible to the casual gamer. And the music is great. I'm only to Palumpolum and I'm stuck on the flying tank though...

@Danieldx22 while I like the idea of having different roles, and combining cinematics into the combat system, it's repetitive and most of the time you just have to rely on mashing the auto attack button. Previous FFs you could at least control all characters in a battle.

I don't really like the story in FF XIII, but I got to say that FF XIII, got the most beautiful grafics, soundtracks and charathers in any game I've ever played. (well, besides FF VII of course)

FF 13 wasn't the most memorable of soundtracks in the series, but this main theme is a gem. Then again, compared to any other game or game franchise, the soundtrack blows most away.
What Mario did for catchy melodies and fun tunes, recent Final Fantasies have done for deeper harmonies from piano and orchestra. I say recent because older games in the series weren't on platforms to support the sound. Who doesn't love FF7 or Chrono Trigger tunes?
