Your hilarious man, and I think they did have a black car it was a low rider and talked street. I did like the tiny bit of heart the film did have with that small town kinda feel and the town cop they accidentally gave some depth to. This films sequel flipped virtually every element if the first film on it's head.
Why are you reviewing this film as if it was meant for adults? it's clearly a film for children, so who cares if the plot/story was in your opinion crap, kids don't care, just as long as they have fun and it's colourfull
@LyriKal0011 Because it came from a studio that produce family films, that can be enjoyed by adults and children, that being Pixar. I judge it as a Pixar film, and to that standard it fails. (This is all my opinion, of course)
Confused Matthew review this not that long ago and Doug Walker (aka Nostalgia Critic) talked about it in his "10 film I hate that everyone else likes" video.
@buc555 I know. Though how he considers this film to be better than Up, Ratouille (sp) The Iincredibles and even a Bug's Life is beyond me, but I guess opinions will vary.
@xMcQueenandSallyx That is not bashing, I even said "I guess opinions will vary" I know people will disagree with me, i.e MissCarrera13, I don't mind it, and I wish you'd stop making out that I do, no offence.
@MissCarrera13 But I was saying more than "I don't like it" I was saying WHY. If you don't want to hear it that's fine, no one has to listen to or agree with me, but I like to give elaboration on my reasons and sometimes I have a lot to say, so I don't regret the video being 13 minutes at all. My only regret with the review is swearing as much as I did when discussing Mater (which I addressed in annotation)
@LeonSKennedy828 I understand what you are saying I just think it is unreasonable. Hopefully you will see the sequel and like it better. I appreciate your civil responses by the way, some people flip out at criticism. I apologize if you found my comment rude, I don't mean to start an arguement.
You know what's kind of funny? Lauren Faust took something that should never have really worked as quality material in the form of My Little Pony, and created Friendship is Magic, which has one of the most interesting and varied casts of characters in any cartoon ever and their developments and conflicts with one another were really interesting.
So if Lauren Faust can take shit and turn into gold with MLP, why couldn't Pixar of all people do it with talking cars? It baffles me.
@ie727 Ooh yes, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is amazing, it really is. The characters are (almost all) incredibly interesting and the animation is beautiful, I loved seeing different sides to some of them as well, especially Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy!
It's great to see quality animation that isn't produced by Pixar, as much as I love the studio.
It's obvious you don't know what every Pixar movie is about. Every one of their movies has a lesson. And this movie is not only for kids. My grandpa loved it, along with every other Pixar movie he's seen. You're not immature for disliking the movie, you're immature for not getting what's it really about.
@Animonstar95 I got EXACTLY what it was about, and I know all of their movies has a lesson or two in it, it's just normally a lot less predictable and obvious when said message is put across to the viewer.
@Animonstar95 Um, you appear to have twisted my words. Cars was the one with the predictable and obvious message and delivery of said message, I made that quite clear, and it was one of the main things that bugged me. If I wanted messages to be obvious would that really have been one of my main complaints with the film? No offence, but it's like you aren't even listening to what I'm saying.
@Animonstar95 Well then you aren't listening very carefully at all. The plot was formulaic, they didn't really do anything with the fact the characters are cars, the characters were predictable and uninteresting with one feeling like little more than a racial stereotype, the romance was shoe horned in.etc etc etc.
@LeonSKennedy828 Okay first of all, your vocabulary = mindfuck. I'm 15 and I have no idea what you're saying. Second, why would they do anything this the characters being cars if that's the setting of the whole film, hence the name? They live in a world where humans don't exist, everyone and everything is a vehicle, including the animals. You have to get in the mindset of the movie to understand it. Have an open mind, why don't you?
@Animonstar95 But how is that interesting? Many a TV show and film have just taken worlds like ours and just made the characters anthropomorphic, what's wrong with wanting them to do something more interesting like Toy Story where the fact they are toys is detrimental to the plot of the film and not just an external visual deal, that just makes the characters look like toys (as they do in Cars) and therefore really marketable. All other Pixar films do this well, but Cars doesn't.
@LeonSKennedy828 Because in Toy Story it's toys in a human world. In Cars, it's cars in a cars world. And not every Pixar movie does this. A Bug's Life is bugs in a human world, but you never see them. Cars is unique in that it's a whole new world, not just bugs or toys or monsters dealing with humans.
@Animonstar95 A Bug's Life is a human world, but they work that aspect, once again, into the core plot of the film, as I mentioned in the review. The ants have an ant hill, they gather food, they freak out about a leave and all the other insects have little quirks and mannerisms their real world equivalent might have, it makes their origin/species feel far more important and well thought out, and better weaved into the narrative of the film. Cars, they're humans, they just look like Cars.
@Animonstar95 I said what they basically were, (humans that look like cars due to the way they live and act outside of racing) not what they actually are...I thought I made that pretty obvious.
The thing is, only those mature enough to see what this film was really trying to say can grasp what a wonderful film it is. To those first viewing it, it might not make sense why the character Sally was so surprised when McQueen returned to the small town at the end of the film. To the viewer, we knew that's how it would end. But she was expecting him to win the race, and be the big superstar he had the ability to be. And you wanna talk about overused ploys? Go watch pirates of the carribean.
@CarsInsider With no offence intended, I don't see how any of that stuff would be surprising, the plot plays out in a very standard fashion, that unless you're a kid (and this does seem to be more of a kids film as opposed a family film)
Also, I am not immature just because I don't like this film, as you implied.
This only shows how ignorant all of you ass cracks are....seriously you all need to STFU...First off stop bitching about a sequel, when you haven't even seen the movie yet...secondly,Its a fuckin ANIMATED movie,ok stop bitching about the characters being Cars..you ask those questions,"How do they do this, how do they do that?" Some of those questions, will be answered in Cars 2...oh but wait yo're not going to see it because it's already a "bad" movie...give me a fuckin break..
@xMcQueenandSallyx Um, first off, I never raised the question of "How do they do this and that as Cars" some commenters did to be sure, but watch the video, I didn't.
Secondly, when did I say I wasn't going to see Cars 2? I know you've seen my initial impressions video (you even commented on it) and I said at the end of that that I was going to give the film the benefit of the doubt.
Third of all, it being animated isn't a scape goat, especially not when other Pixar films break out of the box.
@xMcQueenandSallyx I elaborated on this in the video. They take an idea that most studios (even animated) would think was totally crazy or stupid, but actually surprised the audience and turned it into a decent to great film. For example "A film about an old man, a house and balloons...really?" was my reaction to Up when I first heard about it, but it ended up becoming my favourite Pixar film, and it even got nominated for Best Picture, a feat only met by Beauty and the Beast and Toy Story 3.
@LeonSKennedy828 Isn't the idea of talking Cars "crazy"? I will admit there were some things that could've been inproved on but that dosen't make it a "bad" movie.... maybe Pixar wanted to try something diffrent...I don't see what the fuck is so wrong with that?
@xMcQueenandSallyx It's crazy, but not unheard of. Talking car characters are not new at all, and it didn't help that they used a formulaic plot either, something no other Pixar film did, not from my perspective.
And try to get back on the swearing for crying out loud, I confess I did it a fair bit in the video (and wish I could redo it) but even in doing so I was NOT getting hostile towards anyone, as you seem to be with me here.
3. Now I'm older I can appreciate the movie a bit more, but it's still the movie I've seen the least times. Love listening to other people's opinions, so please keep these reviews up. You also make some really solid and interesting points too.eg. the accents.Looking forward to the next video too, especially the MLP one! *shuts up*
@HiddenWingz The My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic video will be coming shortly ^^ I really want to recommend that show to my subscribers, and an MLP show actually having quality to it and REALLY surprising me is why I want to give Cars 2 the benefit of the doubt. I mean I did before, but a LOT more so after that experience.
2. As a child I saw Cars at the cinema, and I LOVED the first 20 mins, specially the beginning 'Real Gone' scene. (You didn't mention music ) I'm a huge fan of motorsport, so the action really drew me in. Then I got bored, and played the game of "find Jeremy Clarkson." It can relate to your point about the potential of the characters. You mentioned A Bug's Life. The most classic scene is when a leaf disrupts the ant line and they all start freaking out. In Cars there wasn't anything like that.
@HiddenWingz I must admit the race scenes are incredibly exhilarating, the camera work in them is astonishing, as is the animation. I feel bad for not mentioning that in the review now.
1. The concept of Cars is interesting itself. The original idea for Toy Story was supposed to be Woody being a total jerk/bully and then redeeming himself and being a better character by the end of the movie. (Sound familiar-ish?) Yet when Pixar reviewed this they realized that people wouldn't like it, mostly because the main character wasn't likable and because of the plot. Pixar are also well known for doing something new, talking cars...sort of been done before. A LOT.
@HiddenWingz Yeah, exactly. Normally Pixar films when they're announced make me go "Wow, that could be interesting!" or "How the hell is that going to work as a film?" and most of them ended up surprising me. (I remembering scoffing at both The Incredibles and Up, and I ended up loving both films, especially the latter)
Cars I was like "Has this not been done before?" I didn't go into it all that skeptical though, as opposed to Cars 2.
Matter's voice was Larry the Cable guy, a very popular comedian here in the US. To be honest, there are in fact people in some southern US states that have a very similar accent.
that said Cars 2 looks like it will be much better, if you can look past the fact that they are all cars (I still think that's stupid), it's looks like they are going to use the fact they are cars this time and also the plot looks a lot less standard.
Also Lighting Mcqueen will presumably only be one character this time, rather than the, jerk who abundantly changes for the better midway through because the plot needs him to, he was in the first film.
I do respect the fact that you brought up very fair points for your opinion, but I actually have a huge liking to this movie, and I wonder if Cars 2 will improve upon it further. By the way did you know that Cars is the most successful Pixar film ever?
@ZRPGRevamped If you mean in terms of merchandise then yes, it is. The highest grossing Pixar film to date is Toy Story 3 though, and it was Finding Nemo until that film came out. I think Finding Nemo is still their highest selling DVD, but I could be wrong.
@LeonSKennedy828 I'm actually just going off of Game Pro magazine as a reference because it has a calendar section and it said something like "This day the sequel to the most successful Pixar film, Cars, comes out in theaters."
@supergodzilla12 Thanks :) I did try to explain myself in as articulate a manner as possible, which is why I regret swearing as much as I did (mostly when I was discussing Mater)
@PointlessAndAwesome If you want to see what happens when I ad lib entire reviews, look at my Burnout Paradise review from several years back, and the Sonic Unleashed review that I deleted as well. I missed out a lot of points, stuttered like crazy etc.
And Leon, I think you'll find the Nostalgia Critic's name is Doug Walker. Very close though. :D
This review just reminded me of which Pixar film I liked the least. Finding Nemo. That film is really overrated, where the plot is reminiscent of a weaker Toy Story 2, the characters are irritating and the humour is far worse than any other Pixar film I've seen (not seen all of them though, still need to see Cars and Ratatouille). I also had issues with the second half of Wall-E, but it's good.
@TrilbyMenetti I loved Finding Nemo myself, to me it was one of the most emotional Pixar films, and the humour in it made me feel more amused than say, this film did.
@LeonSKennedy828 Both Nemo and Incredibles reminded me of a good Don Bluth movie. They had lovable characters, great animation, and didn't BS around with the hardships of the protagonists.
@robertreturns There are a lot of Don Bluth films I have not seen as of now, but I want to rectify this one day. (I especially want to see The Secret of Nynph...no idea how that's spelt, but oh well)
But yes, I loved Finding Nemo for those very reasons.
@LeonSKennedy828 Fair enough. I may consider reviewing it similar to what you did with Cars and The Little Mermaid and Confused Matthew's Lion King review, but I don't know if I can be asked. FN isn't that bad, I just find it rather irritating and it got far too much recognition than it possibly deserved. I'd still rather watch it than a good number of films, like Home Alone 4, Ice Age 2, etc, but compared to the Pixar films surrounding it like Toy Story, Monsters Inc and Up, I was disappointed.
@TrilbyMenetti I don't see Cars in the same way Matthew does The Lion King, that only really applies to The Little Mermaid, I did think Cars was a poor film but it didn't annoy me as TLM did, be it the film itself or its critical reception.
@DalueCommentarys It will not surprise me at all if Cars 2 has a character like that, since one of its core themes is a world wide trip. Expect to see a LOT of sterotypes if the original is anything to go by.
I've been watching ur videos for a while now and all i can say is You're a stuck up know it all prick, You're always criticizing something or swearing about it I doubt you could write a good script for a family movie yet you "tear" this movie to shreds. You act like you're a professional reviewer. The movies are aimed at kids for a reason.
@Amoah1000 I believe criticising is something a critic should have, otherwise there's no point most of the time. You must have never seen Confused Matthew (the person who had issues with The Lion King and The Incredibles), who is arguably much worse than Leon is.
But though I've never got around to watching Cars, I may do eventually. Nice to see you back Leon.
@Amoah1000 By your logic, all critics must fit into that description, be they professional or just "for fun, hobby critics" and in regards to the movie being aimed at "kids" that's hardly an excuse to be quite frank, Pixar normally make FAMILY films, and to suddenly revert to this kind of dummed town storytelling...yeah, it's quite jarring.
@LeonSKennedy828 If you watch is as a kid u'll think oh this is funny and clever e.g batman and robin, power rangers movie etc. But later on you might look back and think it was poor but still like it
@Amoah1000 I guess....though, Cars may be a bad film but it is NOWHERE near as bad as Batman and Robin or the Power Rangers movie....or Power Rangers in general really.
@Amoah1000 Also, I don't get paid to write this stuff, they do. By your logic no one should be allowed to critique anything unless they're a professional in that same line of work. Well, good bye every review site or reviewer of anything I guess...
@Amoah1000 I accidentally removed your second comment(damn phone, makes the options too small) but I'll reply to it nonetheless. You say I act like a professional critic? How exactly? I gave my opinions, and gave my reasons for having said opinions. You don't need to be a professional to do that, where have you gotten this video, exactly?
@DJTJ1001 Yeah...my motivation/kick for making videos has been shot for ages, NEED to make these things more swiftly, especially since they're such simple videos to edit, the only difficult part is the script actually!
A fair review you made there. I personally thought it was a bit underrated when I saw this movie, probably because I didn't know about the formularic plot and characters at the time.
But that said, did I want to get the DVD? Nah, not as much as Pixar's other flicks and I'm surprised that it's getting a sequel since I didn't think it was that positive with everyone.
@Darkmessiah2 I'll tell you why it's getting a sequel, the same reason most of the mother company (Disney) made most (not all but most) of its sequels. Merchandise sales, and money. Sad but true.
Your hilarious man, and I think they did have a black car it was a low rider and talked street. I did like the tiny bit of heart the film did have with that small town kinda feel and the town cop they accidentally gave some depth to. This films sequel flipped virtually every element if the first film on it's head.

It can relate to your point about the potential of the characters. You mentioned A Bug's Life. The most classic scene is when a leaf disrupts the ant line and they all start freaking out. In Cars there wasn't anything like that.
HiddenWingz 9 months ago
@HiddenWingz I must admit the race scenes are incredibly exhilarating, the camera work in them is astonishing, as is the animation. I feel bad for not mentioning that in the review now.

Long comment warning:
A LOT.
HiddenWingz 9 months ago
@HiddenWingz Yeah, exactly. Normally Pixar films when they're announced make me go "Wow, that could be interesting!" or "How the hell is that going to work as a film?" and most of them ended up surprising me. (I remembering scoffing at both The Incredibles and Up, and I ended up loving both films, especially the latter)
Cars I was like "Has this not been done before?" I didn't go into it all that skeptical though, as opposed to Cars 2.
LeonSKennedy828 9 months ago
did you lose interest in video games? good review by the way, toy story 3 is my favorite pixar movie.
giodude101 9 months ago
@giodude101 Somewhat, I must confess. Far from completely though.

Matter's voice was Larry the Cable guy, a very popular comedian here in the US. To be honest, there are in fact people in some southern US states that have a very similar accent.

@tommynemec2 I know who he is, but I don't really know anything about him, per say.

THE STORY SHOULD BE CARS DRIVING PEOPLE OFF CLIFFS LOL
welshgamer98 9 months ago 6
@welshgamer98 There's not much they could do with a premise like that =p
LeonSKennedy828 9 months ago
that said Cars 2 looks like it will be much better, if you can look past the fact that they are all cars (I still think that's stupid), it's looks like they are going to use the fact they are cars this time and also the plot looks a lot less standard.
Also Lighting Mcqueen will presumably only be one character this time, rather than the, jerk who abundantly changes for the better midway through because the plot needs him to, he was in the first film.
buc555 9 months ago
@buc555 Cars 2 looks corny as hell, I really am not looking forward to it at all, I will still be giving it the benefit of the doubt though.
LeonSKennedy828 9 months ago
The real problem I had was also that they were all cars. Why? that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard in my life!
How do they reproduce? How do they pick stuff up? How do they eat? How do they go to the loo?
I also did review of this a long time ago, in fact the link is over there >>>
buc555 9 months ago
@buc555 Wait...that was you?!
*goes over to what is easily his favourite Cars review and checks the uploader*
Daaammmn...you've commented on my Little Mermaid and Cars 2 videos and I had no idea it was you!

Everytime someone asks me why I didn't like this movie, I will link them to this. Good job, I agree.

I have never felt like watching Cars
footloose20005 9 months ago
@footloose20005 If you're a Pixar fan I would still give it a watch, it could have something for you :)
LeonSKennedy828 9 months ago
@LeonSKennedy828 Yeah i'm quite a big pixar fan, may decide to watch it sometime :)
footloose20005 9 months ago
I do respect the fact that you brought up very fair points for your opinion, but I actually have a huge liking to this movie, and I wonder if Cars 2 will improve upon it further. By the way did you know that Cars is the most successful Pixar film ever?
ZRPGRevamped 9 months ago
@ZRPGRevamped If you mean in terms of merchandise then yes, it is. The highest grossing Pixar film to date is Toy Story 3 though, and it was Finding Nemo until that film came out. I think Finding Nemo is still their highest selling DVD, but I could be wrong.
LeonSKennedy828 9 months ago
@LeonSKennedy828 I'm actually just going off of Game Pro magazine as a reference because it has a calendar section and it said something like "This day the sequel to the most successful Pixar film, Cars, comes out in theaters."
ZRPGRevamped 9 months ago
I do think more strongly of this film than you do, but this is still an awesome review, with many good points!
supergodzilla12 9 months ago
@supergodzilla12 Thanks :) I did try to explain myself in as articulate a manner as possible, which is why I regret swearing as much as I did (mostly when I was discussing Mater)

@PointlessAndAwesome I keep forgetting about those videos, fuck x.x
LeonSKennedy828 9 months ago
You can't really say that the Little Mermaid isn't a classic.
EnoughSaidInc 9 months ago
@EnoughSaidInc I never said it wasn't regarded as one, I just feel it doesn't deserve to be seen as a classic in my personal opinion.
LeonSKennedy828 9 months ago
@PointlessAndAwesome If you want to see what happens when I ad lib entire reviews, look at my Burnout Paradise review from several years back, and the Sonic Unleashed review that I deleted as well. I missed out a lot of points, stuttered like crazy etc.
LeonSKennedy828 9 months ago
@OogletheOwl True. Can't believe I didn't mention that in the video.
LeonSKennedy828 9 months ago
@OogletheOwl Yeah, You're right, shouldn't they call it A Cars Life of Car Story?...............Pixar knows what they're doing.
markr98 9 months ago
@markr98 Just because they didn't call it something less original than "Cars" doesn't mean Cars wasn't an unoriginal title.
LeonSKennedy828 9 months ago
@LeonSKennedy828 Yes, I know.

TrilbyMenetti 9 months ago
@TrilbyMenetti I loved Finding Nemo myself, to me it was one of the most emotional Pixar films, and the humour in it made me feel more amused than say, this film did.
LeonSKennedy828 9 months ago
@LeonSKennedy828 Both Nemo and Incredibles reminded me of a good Don Bluth movie. They had lovable characters, great animation, and didn't BS around with the hardships of the protagonists.
robertreturns 9 months ago
@robertreturns There are a lot of Don Bluth films I have not seen as of now, but I want to rectify this one day. (I especially want to see The Secret of Nynph...no idea how that's spelt, but oh well)
But yes, I loved Finding Nemo for those very reasons.
LeonSKennedy828 9 months ago
@LeonSKennedy828 NIMH is amazing and my most recent candidate 4 best animated movie.(Toy Story and Beauty and the Beast are the others.
robertreturns 9 months ago
@robertreturns Nice :) Shall have to check it out when I get the chance.
LeonSKennedy828 9 months ago
@LeonSKennedy828 Fair enough. I may consider reviewing it similar to what you did with Cars and The Little Mermaid and Confused Matthew's Lion King review, but I don't know if I can be asked. FN isn't that bad, I just find it rather irritating and it got far too much recognition than it possibly deserved. I'd still rather watch it than a good number of films, like Home Alone 4, Ice Age 2, etc, but compared to the Pixar films surrounding it like Toy Story, Monsters Inc and Up, I was disappointed.
TrilbyMenetti 9 months ago
@TrilbyMenetti I don't see Cars in the same way Matthew does The Lion King, that only really applies to The Little Mermaid, I did think Cars was a poor film but it didn't annoy me as TLM did, be it the film itself or its critical reception.
LeonSKennedy828 9 months ago
;-( I fucking loved this movie xD I first watched it when I was 10 and I've loved it since.
EvilMrChicken 9 months ago
@EvilMrChicken Fair enough, opinions will vary, I guess.

Or have a white english car come out and have fucked up teeth and drink tea!
DalueCommentarys 9 months ago
@DalueCommentarys It will not surprise me at all if Cars 2 has a character like that, since one of its core themes is a world wide trip. Expect to see a LOT of sterotypes if the original is anything to go by.
LeonSKennedy828 9 months ago
I've been watching ur videos for a while now and all i can say is You're a stuck up know it all prick, You're always criticizing something or swearing about it I doubt you could write a good script for a family movie yet you "tear" this movie to shreds. You act like you're a professional reviewer. The movies are aimed at kids for a reason.
Amoah1000 9 months ago
@Amoah1000 I believe criticising is something a critic should have, otherwise there's no point most of the time. You must have never seen Confused Matthew (the person who had issues with The Lion King and The Incredibles), who is arguably much worse than Leon is.
But though I've never got around to watching Cars, I may do eventually. Nice to see you back Leon.
TrilbyMenetti 9 months ago
@Amoah1000 By your logic, all critics must fit into that description, be they professional or just "for fun, hobby critics" and in regards to the movie being aimed at "kids" that's hardly an excuse to be quite frank, Pixar normally make FAMILY films, and to suddenly revert to this kind of dummed town storytelling...yeah, it's quite jarring.
LeonSKennedy828 9 months ago
@LeonSKennedy828 If you watch is as a kid u'll think oh this is funny and clever e.g batman and robin, power rangers movie etc. But later on you might look back and think it was poor but still like it
Amoah1000 9 months ago
@Amoah1000 I guess....though, Cars may be a bad film but it is NOWHERE near as bad as Batman and Robin or the Power Rangers movie....or Power Rangers in general really.
LeonSKennedy828 9 months ago
@Amoah1000 Also, I don't get paid to write this stuff, they do. By your logic no one should be allowed to critique anything unless they're a professional in that same line of work. Well, good bye every review site or reviewer of anything I guess...
LeonSKennedy828 9 months ago
@Amoah1000 I accidentally removed your second comment(damn phone, makes the options too small) but I'll reply to it nonetheless. You say I act like a professional critic? How exactly? I gave my opinions, and gave my reasons for having said opinions. You don't need to be a professional to do that, where have you gotten this video, exactly?
LeonSKennedy828 9 months ago
@Amoah1000 *this idea, rather.

DJTJ1001 9 months ago
@DJTJ1001 Yeah...my motivation/kick for making videos has been shot for ages, NEED to make these things more swiftly, especially since they're such simple videos to edit, the only difficult part is the script actually!
LeonSKennedy828 9 months ago
A fair review you made there. I personally thought it was a bit underrated when I saw this movie, probably because I didn't know about the formularic plot and characters at the time.
But that said, did I want to get the DVD? Nah, not as much as Pixar's other flicks and I'm surprised that it's getting a sequel since I didn't think it was that positive with everyone.
Darkmessiah24 9 months ago
@Darkmessiah2 I'll tell you why it's getting a sequel, the same reason most of the mother company (Disney) made most (not all but most) of its sequels. Merchandise sales, and money. Sad but true.
LeonSKennedy828 9 months ago
@LeonSKennedy828 Its a good flim but too much marketing
