Action war nicht unbedingt notwendig, das hat den Film eher kaputt gemacht und ihn auf das Niveau von normalen Hollywood Blockbustern gebracht

Shutter Island kommt mit wesentlich weniger Action aus und ich find ihn viel besser :)

Burton deserves more credit than he gets. Sure some scenes are corny, the clown henchmen were stupid and the first one suffered from studio interference (Robert Wohl, Prince promotion). Burton had great villians, a far more interesting and gloomy Gotham City than Nolan's Chicago setting.

But what really makes the Burton movies is Danny Elfman's soundtrack. Pieces like "Descent into mystery", "cathedral" or the Penguin's theme at his death scene and the Main theme are timeless classics.
