Most countrys use tape these days. It makes it easier to see, and the sweat in your hands wont let the baton slip..Its not cheating at all, it's just to make sure that your routine don't get messed up for no reason : )

Australia use tape?? As do other countries I've noticed.. infact at the 2009 International cup I hardly saw any batons without tape?? out of at least a dozen countries.

We French people put black tape because when it falls while pratising it w0uld hurt less ;)

In Italy we put it because it's easier to see and catch it.

In Canada that would almost be considered cheating, we don't do that. The NBTA is completely different than the CBTA and WBTA as far as standards and guidelines go. I guess if it works for you then great, but we don't need the tape to make a proper catch.

sorry, but that's part of the sport. You should be able to do the tricks without the tape if you're at this calibre.
