@MehboobLota No, it won't. They're great, but there is no "king", because every 4x4 has it's strengths and weaknesses.
Landcruisers are stronger than most, but they're certainly not "king". Various Jeeps, the Suzuki SJ/Jimny, the Defender, the RR Classic - all have various strengths and equal the Landcruiser overall. None of them are "king" because they're all awesome in their own way. There *is* no "king".
@cimqe No, it's not the king offroad. The RR Classic could, arguably, have claimed to be - but the modern RR has been evolved into a road car at the behest of RR customers, and as such isn't that great offroad. It's certainly not bad - in fact, it's still damed good - but "king" it most *certainly* is not. It doesn't even have a solid front axle.
I'm sure this guy was just messing around that he's tires dont even have tread. An idea how bad the tread looks like probably looks like a Formula 1 tire.
He's put the terrain response system into sand mode. That disengages the traction control and would make all four wheels spin like this. In mud or snow mode it would drive straight out even on road tyres as the abs and tc would stop the wheel spin and send power to the other wheels. I am an advanced offroad driver for Landrover and do press work and driver demonstrations all over the world so know the capabilities of these vehicles.
If all the wheels had traction, the fact the car isn't moving isn't the car's problem... It's the tires obviously... They haven't no traction at all.... and I bet the air pressure they had at that moment is the right one... for the road... So please, don't blame on the Range Rover. Still is a great car....
Btw, just the fact of all whells had traction almost prooves Range Rover is a good offroad car. Nowadays, there is one or two cars with diff lock...
@blknwte Nope, this model range rover didn't come with diff locks. There weren't reintroduced untill 2007 when they added Terrain Response. Then they came with a locking centre & rear diff.
down to bad driving 98% of the time, yeah tires pay a big part, the biggest mistake most make in this situation is to rev the sh17 out of it, where as low revs wins the day in this situation, better still put it in 2nd high, low revs, gives better torque and better grip, low range would be worse it would just dig a hole, varying the revs, ie, gently reeving repeatedly, no more than 2 grand rpm helps to gain traction and gets you moving,
@fulnaizi you have no clue about sarcasm and my L200 did have a central diff lock and trick traction control that stopped the wheel that was spinning and put power to the wheels that had traction.
most jap 4x4's have no centre diff, or didnt when I was interested!
So they have the same characteristics as a locked centre diff, but any time u used 4x4 it was like this so u couldnt use it on the road, like u can a range rover with a centre diff, to me though land rover have ruined their cars with technology, no choice, but still; could I get this car fixed in the wilderness by a simple mechanic or any modern shite?
Select this and select that..why on earth do people have to have all of these electronic gizmos on 4x4`s nowadays..decent tyres help no end.
I was into Landrovers for over 20 years until I bought a Landcruiser 90 series, glad that I did and have never looked back,it does everything that my old Landrover products did without going wrong and rotting.
1. this is a 2002-2004 rangie, i.e. with no terrain response to select
2. these are most likely the stock goodyear hp's, great on tarmac, decent on sand, suck in mud.
3. you CANNOT lock differentials on the L322
4. you select low range, TURN OFF DSC (dynamic stability control) go gentle on the pedal and you're out in no time
same thing ha penned to me when i first got the L322, once you get used to the car its an exceptional offroader (to me better than the defender i used to own)
@kokkinos7377 Finnally, someone who knows what the're taking about i've been commenting the exact same on this video for years. Stability Control (DSC) is not mean't for mud, its mean't for pavement and situations where minimal wheel spin is key.
these Rangerover are too heavy for serious off road, you need a suzuki samurai or a lada niva , you cant just blame the tyres it is the vehicle that is not suited to the terrain ;-)
If any of you know about off roading you would know that its the tires that's the problem here, you put those Z rated street tires on anything and it will slip in the mud and to those that say "low range" in real life that will just make you rev to hi and stick in the mud, low range is for hills and rocks not mud.
lol all you jeep fan boys. just google rr offroad and look at someone using one correctly, easily the best offroad vehicle bar a bowler wildkat (which is built on a landrover
Well the tires were the worst possible. With the right tires, it can do wonders. See " /watch?v=4U-yFmnu0sY" or "/watch?v=AEd4qdvN8_U&feature=related". It`s like trying to go with a skateboard on sand.
Range Rovers simply disgust me in every way. Their drivers; obnoxious, horse-riding, lifeless, posh knobs. Usually. And "Why buy a car when you can get a Land Rover?". Well, since you asked...
@yuri250333 Not the problem. His problem is not enough right foot, and no mud tyres. Low range would've made his problem worse, not better - he needs momentum to overcome the dismal lack of grip his summer tyres are giving him, and low range wouldn't give him that.

It has a centre diff with a locker to prevent transmission windup during road driving, as opposed to, say, my Zuk which can be switched to 2wd or 4wd (lo/high) but has no centre difflock, and as such needs to be driven on the road in 2wd to prevent transmission windup.
city boys think that they just buy a 4x4 and think that they can go anywhere! well city kids, its just not as simple as that! rule NO 1, off road tyres, rule NO 2, a winch and rule NO3, experience!
@Tapajara True to an extent but it's actually just bad tyre choice. It's a capable off road vehicle but fitted with road tyres as the majority of the market for them is merely posh people who drive them round town, not people driving across fields.
@TheSatnylle Not in 2007. From the 09Y model onwards. Some supercharged models had the new electronic rear difflock (e-diff) before that, but I don't think even they had them in 2007.
fords chevys and any other american wannabe 4X4 are useless like just look at videos and u will see what i mean i am an off road man myself and always found range rovers and land rovers to be the beat in the buisness always have been and always will be
@ducky1514 Sorry, but I have to stick up for the 'mericans here - various jeeps over the years have rocked pretty damned hard, and matched the LR's in many ways.
Let's face it, though, decent 4x4's are built, not bought. And if you know what you're doing, you can build a decent 4x4 out of anything with solid axles.
@ducky1514 That's funny. Rover has worst depreciation, worst customer satisfaction, worst mechanical reliabillity, etc etc. Now Toyotas, Nissan, etc are made in the US. I'm not saying US vehicles are superior but Rovers are for people who love to fix blown head gaskets, dead fuel pumps, leaking airbag suspension, etc etc. I'd love to wheel one but I can't stand the down time. I'd rather buy an I-6 engined Jeep Wrangler and fix it for cheap than pay a premium for Rover parts. Rover quality sucks
I own a 2004 L322 Range Rover Vogue 3.0 td6 and i can assure you don't notice if you are on a highway or of you are in the middle of the mud, my Rangie has never let me down and I went on muddy roads with very very used M+S standart Good Year Wrangler (let's say 2 tyres were illegal to use :) )
Get proper tyres!!! Never had any issues like this with my old '84 Rangie, even in the worst terrain it's just change to low, engage diff lock and crawl out...
@akpolo21aong To be fair, this isn't the RR's fault - it's the idiot behind the wheel and crap tyres. Drive a Defender like that with those wheels and tyres and it'd be just as crap.
I'm not saying RR is as good as LR - hell no - but this vid doesn't prove anything other than idiots buy RR's.
Just like most SUV's, owners fit standard road tyres. We had really bad snow last winter and lost count of 4x4's stuck in snow with low profile 'sports' tyres. I drove past in a VW Polo with snow socks on.

Which this LR doesn't have at the front...

Never had any issues like this with my old '84 Rangie, even in the worst terrain it's just change to low, engage diff lock and crawl out...

and that is why range rovers are the best off road vehicles in the world they even above the hummer
ducky1514 3 months ago
@akpolo21aong To be fair, this isn't the RR's fault - it's the idiot behind the wheel and crap tyres. Drive a Defender like that with those wheels and tyres and it'd be just as crap.
I'm not saying RR is as good as LR - hell no - but this vid doesn't prove anything other than idiots buy RR's.

Just to reply, everyone says they are good off road.

Just like most SUV's, owners fit standard road tyres. We had really bad snow last winter and lost count of 4x4's stuck in snow with low profile 'sports' tyres. I drove past in a VW Polo with snow socks on.
