@surfingtube This is a source of controversy because unless you order an iMac with the optional SSD, apple doesn't include the mounting bracket in the bay.  This means you would need to disassemble the logic board to get to the SATA port on the back to plug in the drive. Essentially, it's going to be work that voids your warranty, but it can be done.

@philhaffmans I should do a video on this topic. The Lion installation creates a restore partition on the boot drive. To restore from this partition, hold down Option key at startup, select the Restore partition, and you're good to go! Alternatively, you can create a USB restore drive. The iMac doesn't have this yet, but you will be able to restore from Apple servers if you replace the drive and don't have a USB restore drive.

btw ftr..incase anyone didn't already know or realize this..the video card that is inside the Imac is a MOBILE version of the 6970. 1gb and 2gb vram models are both mobile. However, so far all the gaming demo's i have seen WOULD make me question that considering sc2 installed STRAIGHT into snow leopard or lion ( aka no win 7 through bootcamp or parallels) still APPEARS to run at 2560x1440 rez, max eye candy at 24 fps or higher= DAMN NICE considering.

@n0rion7 I have some mixed feelings about my dual-drive experience so far. It's more work to manage and since my library is on the HDD, it means that it becomes a bottleneck for operations on the SSD anyway. So...I probably would still do it...but it's not a flawless experience for me.

@BroFresco The RAM is cheap to upgrade yourself, I would recommend sticking with 4GB and purchasing your own RAM for much cheaper. If you watch my more recent video, I show you how much cheaper it is to instal the RAM yourself. I would recommend upgrading to the i7 CPU which gives you a not insignificant performance boost over an i5. SSD won't boost gaming performance, just loading speeds.
