The guy has also played a total of like 20 games in two years, he's still battling injuries, and no matter how good he plays defensively, 12 pts is not enough from a player who was a #1 pick when kevin durant is putting up 30 and playing decent defense, and being the leader on the worst team in baskettball. Oden has not lived up to the hype and if the analysts said anything else they'd be lying

And considering Oden is a DEFENSIVE player who only averaged (I think) around 15 points in college (keep in mind I am not the biggest college fan) then for him to score around 8 a game on limited minutes at the NBA level pretty much translates over pretty well.

Second of all, that is exactly it. Durant plays on a crappy team so its alot easier for him to put up numbers and develope. Chances are, even if Greg reaches the peak of his potential will not even be as good as Brandon Roy on his own team. He has a ways to go before he is even the second option on offense. And with a backup like Przybilla, if Oden is not playing well then he is out of there in a heartbeat cuz Nate has the luxory of having a starter quality backup center on the bench.

It's been by design that he's been gradually eased in to games. Why rush when the Blazers are good even w/out Oden. As Blazer fans, yes, his performance has been disappointing at times, but remember he IS a rookie. The expectations have been that he should have busted out like Shaq, but understand that Orlando had a HORRIBLE team before Shaq making it that much easier for him to have dominated.

In Oden, the Blazers are growing a tree, not a weed.
