The films actually made the transition more gradual. In the books, she was even more unlikeable somehow, though her last speech here was absolutely uncalled for. I honestly wouldn't have blamed Sharpe one bit if he had slapped her. Good riddance to her. I hope she does end up having to go back to Simmerson!

Watching this movie at the latter stage of the chronological series where Sharpe encounters horrible characters from the upper-class elk makes me pine for the earlier movies when Perkins, Cooper, Hogan (not forgetting his first wife Teresa) and other characters were present during the Penninsula conflict

I've never been able to figure out why Sharpe didn't give Jane a good sound thrashing, I'd have liked to see him throttle Jane - or even better, if Sharpe turned Jane over to Simmerson so he could beat her to a pulp!

The films actually made the transition more gradual. In the books, she was even more unlikeable somehow, though her last speech here was absolutely uncalled for. I honestly wouldn't have blamed Sharpe one bit if he had slapped her. Good riddance to her. I hope she does end up having to go back to Simmerson!
