people of youtube pls see in the relationship what you will. i personally like K/S cause i just do but its fine to see them as friends too. plus may i remind people of the term T'hy'la which means friend brother and lover. they can be all or just one but the creator of the show coined that term so it is completely legit to see them as lovers or brothers.
@datawolf39 From the novelization of Star Trek, editor's comment on t'hy'la and the lovers rumor: "I was never aware of this 'lovers' rumor, although I have been told that Spock encountered it several times. Apparently, he had always dismissed it with his characteristic lifting of his right eyebrow, which usually connoted some combination of surprise, disbelief, and/or annoyance. -->
@datawolf39 Novelization, Admiral Kirk comment continues: "As for myself... I have always found my best gratification in that creature called woman. Also, I would not like to be thought of as being so foolish that I would select a love partner who came into sexual heat only once every seven years." So if you want to try and use the book to support your gay fetish fantasy, then accept what the book actually says.
@Mikanojo actually i was using the information from a interview that i saw if you really must know and i dont think that you are being very mature by saying mean things just because i like this slash pairing. on yeah and by the way what you said to disneyholic08 is not that accurate. sure the hand things were kisses but just because vulcans go through pon'farr does not mean that they can only have sex every seven yrs. im sure serek and amanda were intimae more than that.
@datawolf39 There is absolutely no reference in Trek to support your claim. By contrast there IS evidence that once the pon farr final stage (plak tow) passes Vulcans lose all desire for sex, as shown in the TOS Amok Time. Regarding this slash.. if it were only someone writing a lemon story for some kink site or for their friends then fine. But this has spread online. Now this revisionist gay porn appears in searches for Trek. i wish to enjoy Trek for what is was thank you.
There is room in the universe for both points of view. This was the first K/S video I watched, had never considered the possibility before that point. It was a stepping stone to answering my own questions about sexual orientation. If one person reaches a greater sense of self acceptance as a result isn't that more important than fighting over eros, philios and agape.
Gosh people.. calm down. I think this slash thing is funny and everything and the video is great, so stop arguing whether they were supposed to be gay or not. We can't know it. No reason to get mad at each other. I love this video and can somebody tell what the song is? I love it! :P
Why do so many openly or still in denial gay men and a few perverted women keep insinuating and fantasizing about Kirk and Spock being gay lovers? Is it that you really are so ignorant of the many kinds of love that you cannot tell the difference between brotherhood and sex or is it just longing about the heroes you wish you could have had sex with? i have seen TOS, every episode now and if i had been alive and at least a teen in the 60s i would have wanted to have either of them as lovers.
@Mikanojo Well...when interviewd with the creator of the show and asked about it, he simply said 'if it was accepted at that time' and thats all. of course, the vulcan word, th'y'la means, friend, LOVER, BROTHER, as in, more than a friend, closer than a brother, more than just a lover. Theyre love was based on the Greek take on male/male love. and whats this about 'perverted' women? are you implying that there is something wring with loving a member of the same sex?
@Chloeissocoollad i am a lesbian. What is perverted about this whole star trek phony gay idiocy is that there is nothing in the series about it - rather a few perverts are trying to force it on the characters in lemon fanfics and these silly insinuative videos. I have no idea why you would claim the brotherly love between Kirk and Spock has ANYTHING to do with eros.. male/female love. And Spock NEVER used the word th'yla to describe his relationship with Kirk.
@Mikanojo Sorry that you were flamed. As a Slash writer I do see a different view of the K/S dynamic but I accept that is only my perspective. The way I see it is that we should respect each others different interpretations there is sufficent room for alternative views. I am grateful for the concept of slash, the internet doesnt have much to say abpout late blooming, but the K/S concept helped me to understand and accept my own sexuality (bi).
@JENATIM11 Oh please no worries? i was not offended by the comments. i wrote strongly as well. i have no issue with sexuality at all. i agree that too many people do confuse filios (brotherly love) with eros (sexual love) And confuse lust: the selfish desire to take, control and use -- with love: the desire to give, to honor and to yield. But when speaking of Trek, mai personal view is that i love it for what it WAS, not for what others wish it had been.
@JENATIM11 Why can people not simply accept the characters as they were actually portrayed, not dream up ridiculous theories about homosexual acceptance on television in the 1960s, not mix sound bites and video clips to try and make Spock and Kirk appear to be gay just to fulfill your own sexual fantasies about them? If you honestly like them for who they WERE, then let them BE who they were. If you honestly liked the show, then HONOR the show as it actually was.
@Mikanojo - It is sad that so many people distort the relationship between Spock and Kirk. They loved each other but in a NON SEXUAL way. Their bond made the show great.
@socalcraigster i agree completely.. people who have no respect for Trek, who have only immature ideas about love, who confuse it with sex - these people are dishonoring the memory of the show for the sake of their sexual daydream. Apparently young Mr. Shattner and Mr. Nimoy were such sex symbols that gay men and girls who get excited by gay men are having kink sex dreams about them and now trying to spread lies about the characters on YouTube. It is awful.
See the problem is that you are implying that the superior relationship is brotherly platonic love and devotion. Why should a person consider a loving homosexual relationship based on love and devotion, inferior to a platonic one? If that is your belief than that is your belief that is another issue entirely.
@Draqonelle1 It is NOT a matter of superior or inferior, it is a matter of fact as opposed to fiction. This can be applied to any characters in any book. Suppose that some one started a site or wrote a book dedicated to Harry Potter, but decided to make him muggle, claimed Ron was gay and Hermione was actually a death eater.. would you appreciate such a site or deny its claims as being a lying mockery of the original story? i love and respect the ACTUAL story, not the mockery.
@Draqonelle1 If Kirk and Spock had been gay it would have been fine. But they were not. Ever. And to push the lie until it becomes a small following of yaoi fandom just to give you and your little group one more reason to fantasize and touch your selves dishonors the characters, and the incredible work that Trek became. The fact remains, the characters were not gay, their form of love was brotherly, not sexual, and no amount of revisionist porn is ever going to change that.
@davidls11 The slash game is not American but it seems it took Americans to turn it into desecration of loving memories and assassination of characters, How does dishonoring a show by twisting the main characters into homoerotic fantasy in any way honor them? It is only honoring the fetish of some people who apparently do not have enough actually gay people in their lives so they must invent them.
If Spock and Kirk are gay how does that change the beautiful bond of love we all can see between them? We don't just say that they are gay as an insult, we want to find these sort of characters in our lives. The question is are you okay with a loving gay couple who will live and die for each other... some people can't deal with that. Because we all know that this show depicted such a strong love between two men that it actually started ALL slash fandom. We should be celebrating love in its IDIC
If Spock and Kirk are gay how does that change the beautiful bond of love we all can see between them? We don't say that they are gay as an insult, we want to find these sort of characters in our lives. The question, is are you okay with a loving gay couple who will live and die for each other? Can't we celebrate love and IDIC? The infinite combinations of lovers, brothers, friends, comrades? That make this relationship so compelling.
@Draqonelle1 I am lesbian, married to a wonderful woman, and have absolutely no issue with homosexuality at all. It is not really a question of accepting homosexuality, it is a question of letting some people who have no respect for Trek as it actually was, trying to reinvent the characters to suit their sexual kink. Saying that they were gay is a blatant lie, and the lie being spread dishonors the story and the author of the story.
@Chloeissocoollad i have seen every episode now. All of them. And all that i see is that some people WISH Kirk and Spock were gay, or they FEAR that Kirk and Spock were gay, because they really have very little understanding of brotherly love. The same idiots who thought Frodo and Sam must be gay because they hugged and Frodo kissed Sam on his forehead suffer from the same lack of wisdom.

0:27 is Plato's Stepchildren. One of those episodes from the third season when it really helped to be stoned when you watched the show. At one point, Kirk crawled around on all fours braying like a mule with a midget on his back. I kid you not.
Yeah. I've been slowly watching all of TOS episodes on Hulu and I can't bring myself to click on Platos Stepchildren. I was probably 13 the one and only time I saw it and I have no desire to relive the experience.
You're ace! *worship: Funniest thing I've seen for a long time, can't stop grinning while watching! Thanks for many funny K/S-moments, you really rock!! <3
I keep getting Star Trek videos in my "Recommended For You" list and I don't know why. I mean I've never even seen the show before. This video is cool though. Slash is always fun.
Maybe she's like me and YouTube recommended this to her for some unknown reason. But the video is still enjoyable even if you're not really familiar with the show.

You're right. I've read the song's lyrics some time ago because... I wanted to sing along correctly.^^

The Naked Time :-)

0:27 is Plato's Stepchildren. One of those episodes from the third season when it really helped to be stoned when you watched the show. At one point, Kirk crawled around on all fours braying like a mule with a midget on his back. I kid you not.

It's physically painful for me to watch that episode. It's like a car crash, it's like a car crash, horrifying to see, yet you can't look away.
CaptainQuirk 2 years ago 3
Yeah. I've been slowly watching all of TOS episodes on Hulu and I can't bring myself to click on Platos Stepchildren. I was probably 13 the one and only time I saw it and I have no desire to relive the experience.

Ugh..try watching it with your dad... Uncomfortable.

Yeah, but Barbara Babcock makes it for me.
I had a thing for her ever since "Black Marble" (movie, not a Star Trek episode).

Picard/Q would work if Picard loosened up a bit.
Kirk/Spock would work if....they were locked in a room together for twelve hours."

I keep getting Star Trek videos in my "Recommended For You" list and I don't know why. I mean I've never even seen the show before. This video is cool though. Slash is always fun.
luvsirpaul 3 years ago
Maybe you should just go with what's recommended - youtube obviously thinks you're a trekker at heart!
Simoneallen1 3 years ago 4
LOL. I guess so. I'll watch some Star Trek episodes. Thanks for the info. :)

dementia - just out of interest, why are you watching this if you're not fan?!
Simoneallen1 3 years ago
Maybe she's like me and YouTube recommended this to her for some unknown reason. But the video is still enjoyable even if you're not really familiar with the show.
luvsirpaul 3 years ago
If you like slash you should really watch the show - it's where it all started!
Simoneallen1 3 years ago 5
Slash started with Star Trek? I may have to check it out. Is the series available for download somewhere?
luvsirpaul 3 years ago 3
There are some episodes on the official website. Fans started writing slash in the early 70s - it was known as Kirk/Spock (where 'slash' c
