@vanna4animals hey! dont worry too much - aussies, particularly farming aussies like those in the small towns that were hit (not all of them are farmers, but a lot of the areas decimated were farmlands) are incredibly protective of their animals. A story last night was about how one farmer was going to keep his chickens safe. Also, in the floods, and man took his boat out in the roaring tides to save horses desperately trying to cling to the roofs of houses, and he saved every single one. :)

Trying to compare south east asia to north queensland is silly. Most cyclone storm fronts have faded out before they can reach the australian coast,which is why australia gets very few cyclones despite having large parts of the north in the tropics.

I live in New Orleans, Louisiana and after Hurricane Katrina, then Hurricane Rita, destroyed much of our homeland on the Gulf Coast there were a lot of hateful and ignorant comments that people made about the disaster.

I lost friends, family, and property in the storms. I wouldn't wish that pain on anyone and it appalled me to see that some people made jokes about the situation and were happy that it happened.
