Bel timbro, ma non mi sembra adatto a ruoli da basso: l'ho sentito cantare un ottimo Don Giovanni e mi sembra che gli calzi molto meglio.

Very beautiful timbro, but not for Basso roles, in my opinion: I've heard him singing very good in Don Giovanni. That seem the right repertoire for him.

@zoetta74 Yes, I think he'd be doing best on the Don Giovanni/Onegin type of roles. Those quite high baritone parts might suit him. But you can't deny that he pulled that off well.

@witness124 Yes, of course. His voice's beautiful dark colour makes him able to perform this aria in a very charming way. But I hope this is going to remain only a pleasant excursion from his main baritone repertoire.

@zoetta74 I don't know why so many singers insist on singing roles that are wrong for their voices. Most singers don't have extremely versatile voices with a wide vocal range. Among the darker male voices, only Sam Ramey comes to mind as someone who was that versatile and had a very wide range. His voice was also very flexible and agile.

Perhaps Samuel Ramey should be considered the last, in cronological order, of the greatest bass-baritone singers, as Cesare Siepi or Sesto Bruscantini were; who could act both roles of Don Giovanni and Commendatore as easily. But I'm still waiting for the next great opera dark voice. Am I waiting in vain? Please tell me I'm wrong! |:-)

@zoetta74 Someone will come along eventually, but I don't think we're going to hear anyone who combines Ramey's beauty of vocal tone, versatility, wide range, flexibility, and agility anytime soon. I've never heard another voice like his. Thomas Quasthoff' comes the closest, but he doesn't have Ramey's flexibility and agility nor his versatility and I still prefer Ramey's darker, richer tone quality.

Can hear anymore if Baritons sings Bass Arias... Great Voice and Technique, but please sing more Baritone Roles, i know its hard to work with High Tones, but to sing Bass repertoire without Low tones its a shame with this Voice..

@OpernDriver Yeah, his voice while singing bass repertoir reminds me Bryn Terfel who is also a baritone, but acts like he is bass-baritone. They are both trying to add some "bass colour", but only thing they get is a big tremolo; and because of that many people think that opera should sound like that... it`s sad.

Я согласна с товарищем bodiloto, Ильдебрандо - баритон, достаточно послушать как звучит его верхняя ля в Баязете, да, у него прекрасный низ, но не достаточно густой для баса.

нет я не про "Свадьбу Фигаро", а про "Дон Джованни",хотя и как Фигаро Ильдебрандо один из лучших, но Небребко и мне не понравилась в роли Сюзанны. Лучше посмотрите постановку Ла скала, там Диана Дамрау - Сюзанна, Фигаро - Ильдебрандо.
