  • I wanted to thank you for posting this vid. My brother dropped his and it landed on the corner nearest the power button. The button was stuck so he used a screw driver to pry it out and in the process damaged the internal power button pieces. I found a replacement (used) on eBay for $6 which was way better than the site I found selling it for $29. Keep up the good work!

  • I had spilled my whiskey sour on my beloved Nook Color and am wondering what I can do other than the rice trick that did not work to fix it.

  • Just a quick addition, when you are removing the battery panel, there are 3 foam or rubber squares. if you pull on those, it will disconnect the power, volume, and battery connections.

  • I'll open it up take a closer look.

    Thanks for the quick response!

  • The volume toggle is jacked up on my sons, it goes to full volume when de-pressed. I haven't taken it apart yet, but do you think it would be repairable or would I need to get a new toggle switch. Is there a place that sells replacement parts for it?

Thanks in advance for anything you can advise me on.

  • @hoodwink55 It depends on if it's the actually electronic button, or just the plastic piece causing the issue. My first guess is that you could fix it yourself, just adjust whatever is pressing the up button all the time. If that doesn't work though, I don't know of any places that would sell parts. Sorry.

  • where is the battery (how that comes off)?

  • @egoda It's part of the metal back cover, kinda inside. I never tried to take it out because it's weird, and I never had a need to.

  • Where did you acquire a new screen? Do you have a lead you can share? That is really the only thing stopping my from rocking on the plethora of units that BandN won't warranty that I can fix and resell.

  • @cmi2000 I got it off eBay, but it was the LCD only, and the LCD and touch screen are attached. I was never able to actually fix the device..for me, a cracked LCD was a device ruiner :(

  • I'm Wondering if you might be able to help out here. It appears as though my power button/plastic casing has taking on damage. The power button depresses, but does not come back out like it's supposed to. I have to stick a small screwdriver in there and pull it back out or else it turns off again 5 seconds after pressing the button. I was going to take it apart as per your video but I don't have a torx 5 screwdriver. Do you know if there's supposed to be a spring that pushes the button back out?

  • @sonicclang Hmmm, there is no spring that pushes it out, and I can't think of a good way to approach fixing the button without a torx 5. I went to home depot and bought a full torx set (which will come in handy often) for $6. with a $250 nook, a $6 repair is worth it (in my opinion).

  • take apart the nook color? I wanna throw mine against the wall and see what it looks like broken!

  • What happened to your screen?

  • @jceggbert5 It was actually my girlfriend's, and slipped one day on the ice and landed on her purse which the nook was in, just a slight crack in the LCD, but obviously a crack in something like that is somewhat fatal for the device.

  • Could you remove the front bezel without removing the back? Mine is lose and my nook color keeps shutting down.

  • @toniann2011 No, because of how the screws are positioned, it's absolutely impossible. Sorry.
