• from who is this song? I really love it... :)

  • beautiful isn't it?

you can see it perfomrmed by the artist here on YT -

    The Cinematic Orchestra

Ma Fleur, To Build a Home

  • D'Aosta....just,like,my,last,name¡¡

  • good last name! :)

  • Trains and castles some of my favorite things,:)

  • I like whiskers on kittens and warm woolen mittens too :)

  • lol:)

  • ps. why did it look like you were entering a horror movie at the end (the tunnel lights looked eery red.)

  • I did not add any effects on that part so I think it was a result of going from outside to a dark tunnel quickly and how the camera lens reacted.

  • This is definitely one of the most inspired videos on youtube. It's evident through the dramatic shots of the seemingly historic places you recorded. There needs to be more of this.

Return to Italy. This is not a request.

    You have been warned.

    5* miss LeSaMilano.

  • Thank you - what a fantastic comment to wake up to!

I miss Italy for sure - am going back for a visit in March! :) (whew!)

  • Truly magnificent video...brilliant music... Thanks for taking me on the trip with you this evening...

  • thanks you Suze! it's a beautiful place- one of my favourite spots in Italy.

    Happy New Year!

    Lesley

  • Yesssss! I AM THE 1000th VIEWER OF THIS ART! In your face 1001.

  • always happy to have your footprints here sir! xx

  • Jackasses have hooves

  • but thoroughbreds leave lucky horseshoe marks :)

  • Beautiful! It reminds me of my 1979 trip to Austria. Those locations can't be too far from the border...

  • Your'e right, it's very close to Austria. Thanks for watching!

  • 13 September 2007

    Bellissima, dulcissima LeSaMilano

    "DRUM"

  • grazie mille ! :)

  • Monumental vid. What a treat to come back to such class. The way you pace them, put them with the music is awesome. I just love watching your stuff. Also loved the brolly! Fave and save for Max - he's studying castles this term. Cheers, Lesley x (it's good to be home)

  • I'm glad you're home, Lesley - you've been missed!

Getting a comment from you is like getting a bouquet of flowers, just the right touch at just the right moment.

    thanks xxx

  • I bring you sunflowers because their symbolic meaning is adoration. They were our wedding flowers. I've so missed this connection with you, you've been in my thoughts lots. L xxx

  • Beautiful video. Very well done. Ciao, complimenti (e 5 stelle)

  • grazie Giovanni! xx

  • How come i just came upon your channel? Loved the video, loved the song, loved everything...Faved and rated 5 estrellas.. Anyeong!

  • Well you're here now! and I appreciate your nice comment and the il favorito e le stelle!

  • it's my pleasure..anyeong!

  • Nice scenery.

  • It's a beautiful region - one of my favourite places in Italy :)

  • This one might be my favorite yet.

    Favorited and featured.

  • I'm glad you enjoyed! thanks for the fav and feature :) wow!

  • I am without words again, Lesly, but I am not without emotion. Thank you. :-)

  • Thanks Betty, I love knowing your were here :)

  • I loved being here. Most of all, I love coming back in order to spell your name correctly ... Lesley.

  • This video represents what being alive means to me. And I've never written a comment remotely near this on YouTube. Che bella canzone. Ma che bella. Grazie. - John Reagan

  • John thanks so much for that. You slay me :)

  • Oh my God, you are SO good at producing. Vito has been to Valle D'Aosta and is from near Valenza. Since I was 15 I would drool all over his yearly vacation videos up north. Words cannot express what I am feeling just now. I will retire and die an old man in Italy. There's a love if Italy in me that must be from a past life. Thank you for this, thank you thank you, wonderful Lesley :)

  • I didn't realise Vito was from Piemonte - a beautiful region too. I've been to Alessandria which is near Valenza on one of the many drives I've taken.

I had that same love of Italy, too John...one of the reasons I ended up here - well that and I married an Italian guy! You'll get here my friend, if it's in your heart, everything's possible. :)

  • I watched this the other day and couldn't think of anything to say that hasn't already been said. The mountains and clouds reminded me of a brief visit to Austria many years ago and your choice of music put this one over the top.

  • Well thanks for the return visit dear. Austria has that similar look of green green fields and is spectacular. Glad you liked the music, too... one of my new faves! Lesley :)

  • Beautiful! Loved those clouds on the mountains!

  • They were stunning - altoguh I could have used a break since I wanted to film the Matterhorn! augh!

  • wow...9 honors and several for most discussed. Mostly from threats to poor angel boy Johnnny. I want a cut.

  • oh you'll get a cut alright JR....got out the sharpenin' steel and whits is polishin' the ol's hatchet. :)

  • Everything is violence with you. violence violence violence! :)

  • Wow! Anakin has mentioned a few times that your editing is great and he wasn't wrong :)

  • Thank you, Gary's been quite kind in his praise - I do enjoy the diting but sometimes get bored with the video before I get through. I'm about finished with the season's travel vids and will be moving on to something less attractive soon, perhaps fun videos even. Not as fun as yours though :O

  • ha ha tell me about it, I've done that a few times, got 1/2 way through a video and when it becomes a chore it's time to move on to something else and revisit it later.

And based on what I've seen already, I look forward to the fun ones and in fact... I've just had an idea! I'll get back to you ;)

  • damn it! I'm still editing a stoopid travel vid and you're gonna be making a FUN one! arg! me want FUN! haha oh well, I can always count on you to take me away from my drudgery :D

  • hey travel vids can be fun, I went to Vegas in March and it turned into an epic 8 Part series and although I do say it myself, they are some of my most fun vids, my favourite is featured on my channel page :)

oh and the video I had just thought of was going to involve you, however it's a good few weeks away before I'll get a chance to do anything with the idea. I'll be in touch ;)

  • oh I've already made my way thru a couple of your vegas vids and haven't yet started to edit my roman villa/lake snooze fest! My husband is SO NOT a good straight man, so my gags fall flat and always end up on the cutting room floor! I know! I need a Mr. Funny! or... Showgirls!!

  • glad you told me it was you responsible for the influx of comments into my inbox, normally when old videos get commented on it's almost always spam telling me about hot girls dot com (or something like that) It is an epic series so take your time, you don't want 21CC burnout! ;) Oh, and The Hoover Damn (Part 5 I think) is the closest to a more typical holiday video :)

  • I did it! one fell swoop - and first time I have ever done that! wicked funny - I'm fear I'm completely immature and wildly jealous. But I'll get over it somehow - or just watch more of your vids... but now I better share the wealth and watch some nipster/napster/zapster wotever! the legions of fans are calling ! LOL

  • is now a good time to mention my epic Christmas and Valnetine's Day series, they were pretty good... *just joking* ;)

  • oh for the love of....

I have to save something for breaking up the boredom! Will relish the moment...

    L xx

  • It was a response video to the valentines series that first drew my attention to 21stCenturyCats videos-they were brilliant! lol!

  • oh no! now I HAVE to go watch anothe 21stCC series - with a ssj endorsement (hell I've already spent HOURS watching vids tonight! augh! clawing my way away from computer....NOT! LOL)

  • Why Ladies...allow me to retort. I want to thank each of ya for sending me those love e-mails and those rather interesting pictures of yourselves. I intend to sell them to "Mature Woman Booty Magazine" this week. The computer I plan to buy is not in stock until next week. Its a good one...and then I'll have each of you professing your love to me :) *evil laugh* You all got some serious payback a comin :) Nothing will save ya:) Nothin.

  • Blowin in the wind....

  • I think it's some hot air indeed. :)

  • Only salesmen and consultants are full of hot air. :) I just picked on you two in the beginning and U had to go to the sanatarium and get more people to back you up :) I guess ole Johnnny must seem to be invincable to you poor gals. :) Which is true.

  • your vocabulary is good JR, but I think you meant to say 'invisible'

  • Actually I meant invincible...but you know how my typing is. I can spell ..just can't type well and don't proof. I guess I should start shouldn't I "Teacher Lady". You ain't gettin no apple from me!

  • What a treat, Lesley! Big thanks! I adore castles and that whole era, clothes, etc...

A few years ago I found a for-real builder of castles...the real thing, all the details, drawbridge, etc...and top quality...(waiting list of probably at least a year!)

VERY very tempting, that is! :D

  • all the rain we're getting would help make a loveley water-front property, but then I'm sure tehe builder will throw in a moat! :)

  • Oh, Lesley! That was so beautiful - and there's another record that I just have to buy. It fitted perfectly with the video - and in my head. I loved it. Thanks!

  • Thanks Nathan!..I LURVE The Cinematic Orchestra!!

  • I'm beginning to! I've had this video running nonstop whilst checking out emails, etc. It's amazing!

  • posse backup arriving here.....sorry, DG, havta answer that email later.....where is he? hidin again???????? always runnin scared, the lil varmit!!!

  • No problems, FG. We gotta set priorities :) Oh, I've started the video again by entering that code. Now I'm gonna have to sit through the song once more before I got to bed. :)

  • :) couldn't do much better, methinks...now, dream ze golden dreams there, DG ....aahhhhhh.....:)

  • Boo

  • Thanks for showcasing some of my castles. I want to sell a couple of them becasue they are so small. Great video with the usual great editing! Please show Italian women. :)

  • Some of your castles are a bit drafty, sorta like those frilly little undergarments you so enjoy wearin'.

Thanks and I'll be uploading some vidoes with more eye candy soon.

  • Eye candy would be good. All these posse girls are just down right scary lookin. Like they fell from the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down :) JR is bored with American gals. Show Italian women...under 50 ofcourse :)

  • hmmm. This is so wrong Johnnny Ringgo. You're in big trouble again. Pardon me, I've got to make a few smoke signals.

  • I am a beacon for trouble...love it :) When U go runnin and cryin to your posse..be sure to tell them that proper hormone therapy can help resolve the mental issues in the autumn of there lives :) hehehe

  • You are a beacon, Johnny!! Must be them red silk panties you wearin'! You yellow bellied cowgirl, scairt to show yourself anywwhere but a pretty video like this?

  • You tell im Minn, sissy's gotta come here and muss up the place!

  • I think he's mixin the meds and some drink....;)

  • your bacon's cooked Ringgo!

  • Just ask...I got me a brand new hatchet!

  • I'll show YOU bored - right up the side of your head with a board!!!

  • Just like U kilt daddy but you used a shovel.

  • Daddy's not kilt, son; he was over the house just yesterday eating some good ol' corned beef hash :)

  • Not that one..you get all the dads confused momma. My daddy was Errol Flynn. U met him in that cantina down in Mexico when U was hidin from Child Protetive Services over my brothers and sisters.

  • No son, you're all messed up! That twarn't yo daddy! That was Clint in Mexico; and I wasn't hidin', I was buying vanilla and tequila!!! And, o brother and sisters are right here - take your meds boy!!!

  • He don't know how to act, Mother on accounta that bump he took on the head when he was a young'un!

  • He hit his head WAY to hard; he just can't figure fact from fiction!

  • That war'nt his head - that war his face! That's why he dun't show it none - just them beady li'l eyes o' his. He's too darn ugly. He's bin living in darkness and feeding his delirious fantasies :-)

  • You got a point there - chikkenman :)

  • chickenman, tell the truth and shame the devil!!!!

  • LMAO! I can afford to be brave, standing behind MotherReiver! LOL

  • ;-P

  • get behind me!!

  • hahaha Mother ! smack upside the head!! LOL

  • LOL - this silliness has gotten you 9 honors so far; what a beautiful vid to be doing this on, but ol JohnnnyRinggo picked the time and place (and on Oddsweb vid too!)

  • Ain't I just gonna slap some nasty on you the next time I see you JR! And wash that mouth out with some good ol' lye soap too! I think you have the posse pi~~ed! Round up, ladies! He's like a snake, slithering away when noticed!

  • polishing the ol' filet knife now.....

  • As always, an incredible video! You can take a magical beautiful place and make me feel like I am there :)

  • Oh thanks Mother, I'm so glad you could come along. Hope you brought an umbrella :)

Brian told me you have a cookin' video up and I am making my way there now. I love corned beef and can't get it here!! yummy!

  • Thanks for invitin' me along. It's easy to make; come on by!

  • You kilt daddy momma.

  • Just when I thought the silliness was past, here you are!!!

  • Ohhhh..Mother...I ain't ever goin away...it's only begun. I am relentless :) There is only the future for you and your pusse..I mean posse...and there lies madness :)

  • You better say posse -- that's not an acceptable "typo"

  • just a typo mamma :)

  • I'm glad, it'd hate to get mad *for real* -- I'd rather just have fun :)

  • Yes mam.

  • Heck I leave for a few hours and yer causin' all sorts of trouble over here JR!! What in tarnation?!!

  • What a beautiful magical place that is. My partner would adore it. Wonderful film and loved the music too. What is it.

  • Thank you - it is a lovely spot on the planet and less traveled than others in Italy and Europe, which makes it even better for me. The Music is The Cinematic Orchestra, from the album Ma Fleur, To Build a Home is the track.

  • Oh the history there. i would have no idea what century those were built or if time or war ruined parts of them. It makes me remember what a young country I live in. Another great film!

  • It is hard to for me also to get my head around the age of civilisation and it's traces here. The castles are 600-800 years old, but there are plenty of antiquities much much older, say 2000-4000 years old. This valley has always been an important defense position so was constantly occupied for millenia. Many of the castles were destroyed by Napoleon 200 years ago, but many were left fortunately! Thanks for watching - I always appreciate your nice comments!

    Lesley :)

  • Lesley, can I come live with you? On second thought, my husband and kids might not like that. Beauty all around you!!! 5-star vid!!! ((HUGS)) Lisa

  • I think you'd not like where I live and work, but would love where I visit - I am a constant tourist and have the good fortune to live in a place that is a traveler's dream! Thanks Lisa :)

  • You just get better and better at this. You certainly have found your niche with this filming, editing, putting it all together. You're a very special artist. And it helps to live so close to such awesome scenery.

  • Thanks Ann, you're so kind. I feel very lucky that my subject matter is so easy on the eyes!

  • what a cool video. music is straight on. what beauty u have around you

  • Thank you - I love the music too and the regio iss one of my favourites here. It was one of those times that-

because we had a rainy holiday - will stay with me because I saw it from a totally different perspective.

  • Bravo, Lesley. Damn, I miss Italy...

(Uh oh, another morsel for Rangeley's skillet, I'm afraid!)

  • thanks Tom, Walt Disney sure saw a lot of magic in Val D'Aosta!

What would Disneyland be without the Matterhorn?

I'm sure Brian's already uploaded a virtual video buffet today! haha

  • Wow Leslie...What a STUNNING production!! I love how some of the footage seemed to switch to either black and white or a subtle splash of color. Brilliant work! I also loved that part near the end with your hands on the castle wall. You seem like a very tactile person. Loved this!! And awesome song too. Brilliant!!! :)

  • Gosh thanks Gary! Your comments always make me feel like I'm doing something right! (it's that artist's eye of yours)

I have touched buildings and stones ever since I was a child - I think the first time I recall doing that was at stonehenge, my way of feeling the echoes of those who went before I guess.

    :)

  • Oh trust me, with your videos...you are doing everything right!! You really are on an artistic role!

I love that "feeling the echoes of those who went before." Awesome!

  • I really miss Italy :-)

  • I miss California too, but would miss Italy as well if I wasn't here :)

  • That was beautiful! Thank you for making this :-)

  • Glad you liked it. If I could only play piano and write my own music!!

  • Maestro of the video.

  • bow <>thanks! :)

  • Wonderful! I discovered the Dolomites this year.. can't wait to explore further :)

  • Oh, the dolomites are incredible. Spent a couple of weeks up there last year which was my first time up there. Will definitely return!

  • Stunning, simply stunning.

  • Thanks, it's a beautiful place so there's a lot beautiful things to film! :)

  • Awesome! Love the train! You must have shots all around you! Stunning castles. Seems like they are just littering the place. Jealous again

  • Hey my friend, been missing you! I thought of you when I through that train bit in....I only wish I'd gotten a plane but...too cloudy! Really, the castles that remain (that Napoleon didn't tear down during his stint here) do seem to be strewn everywhere, but not haphazardly, as they are all stragically placed high up and along the precipices on either side of the valley as a sort of messaging system in the event of invasions, which occurred on a regular basis apparently!

  • MY goodness! 2 hours away....let's see for me that is Orlando and Mickey Mouse..Oh so not the same!! The closest I get is Cinderella's castle :(

So beautiful! Thank you for sharing!

  • how strange this connection - you know Disney loved the places and castles of this region,(the real Matterhorn is there!) and I can see why - it's magical!

  • wow they look almost fairytaleish... thanks so much for this upload! it looks like a really exciting place! :¬D

  • It is beautiful - and indeed some of the casltes look almost fake - sort of Disneyesque - but you know Walt Disney based many of his animated creations (and theme parks!) around the places and castles of this region, and I can see why - it's magical!

  • I enjoyed the sights very much. Thanks for the trip! I could almost feel the coolness of the stone as you ran your hand across it. Beautiful video Lesley.

  • I have a habit of touching the old stones, as if I were feeling for a heartbeat. I've done that since I wasa girl. Thanks :)

  • me too. =D

  • You live in the most AMAZING place! So beautiful Lesley!

  • Isn't it though? It's amazing that valley under the Matterhorn is only 2 hours from my house in the hectic city :)

  • Bravo!!! I don't even know where to begin. I love the use of color, the horizon shots, just breathtaking. Love it.

  • Thank you, Val D'Aosta is one of my favourite regions of Italy and has a colour palette that inspires! :)

  • Purdy!

(I always say that on your vids. I wonder why.)

  • Hey Bill, how's it coming with vegas??

thanks for the purdy! I like purdy!

  • I always enjoy your videos. It's a little vacation for the mind. Thank you for making them! You're great! 5*****!

  • Golly gee thanks Rex. (you know I can't help but making them, it's an all too common and painful addiction here, but we can all talk about it together)

    xx Lesley

  • very beautiful lesa! i live close to Milan Tn and it looks nothing like Milan, Italy. lol

  • I'll bet it doesn't!! Milan is a big crazy city! I bet they drive better in Milan TN too :)

  • Breathtaking Lesley! Thankyou for sharing. hugs, Chris

  • thanks Chris..let me tell you climbing up some of the rocks and cliffs to visit the castles really does take your breath away (you have to hoof it up ! gasp!)

  • These are amazing...Thankyou!

  • The castles here are quite stunning and sometimes hard to believe they are anywhere from 600-800 years old. They sure don't build a house like they used to!! lol

  • Haha deffinitly!

  • Wonderful scenes. Some of those places will be in demand as global warming raises sea levels.

  • Thanks John - yes, what's a medieval castle witout a moat anyway?

  • LOL....true enough.

  • Beautiful vid Lesley! I love the serene atmosphere you've created with your filming/editing(effects) and music. cheers, Jeroen.

  • Thanks Jeroen - I tried to piece all that rainy (pre-IJssel flood waters)footage together and glad it worked! :)

  • It sure did! I will go again to the river, it's one metre higher now.

  • take your wading boots my friend!

  • haha I will, and you haven't seen me cramble that bridge!

  • This vid took my breath away. Beautiful scenery, and wonderful music. Thank you so much for posting this. 5 stars, and faved!

  • Oh thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed. It's so hard to convey so much beauty surrounding you at every angle onto a 3x4 inch video.... I appreciate the stars and the fav! cheers, Les :)

  • Those are some pretty sights^^ I really loved this :o) And the song is pretty, too!!

  • Thank you - it's a beautiful region. Amazing how differnt it feels in the sunshine - would have been a totally upbeat video (and diffent music of course) because it's surrounded by snow-capped mountans and green valleys and birds chirping!!

  • absolutely gorgeous! lovely music too.

  • Thank you ...I love the music too :)

  • Beautiful stone. I think I was a stone mason in a past life! And I loved the music. Well done.

  • I'm a stone nut too! gotta reach out and touch it ya know!

    Thank you :)

  • I might have to do something with the stone wall I built... just need the right music. Hmm....

  • I see a visit to Sir Rangeley's channel! :)

  • resident Rock Star at your command!

  • See! This is why I count of you folks! I married a drummer... somehow he's of no use. ::wince:: rock star... I get it!!! Ok, enough of that. Stone wall... music... come on people!!! :-D

  • but it's a Wonderwall
