Sounds like a 2 liter wrc on helium! Brilliant! When the Portugal Rallye was in the Wrc i went for three years to a stage in the north, in the serra da Peneda-Geres, where i could see nearly 1 km of the stage, but i cannot remember the name of it. I don't know if you could help...

Skoda just started testing their version of the VAG 1.6T that will be shared with VW and Seat. A Fabia S2000 1.6T is quite likely but I'm still not sure if they will do a WRC version. VW will probably be the brand that will join the WRC. Mirek on some forum said that development for a VAG WRCar is at an advanced state. The new regs are designed so that a team could buy a S2000 version and eventually be able to upgrade it to the WRC version.

Toyota is thinking about the WRC. They are looking at using a Yaris or an Auris WRC, but new rumors say that a Yaris WRC is a possibility. It would probably be based on the next generation Yaris, which is bigger and wider than the current one.

In regards to the car, I need to see more before I decide how good it is. You can put a cage in anything and do at-speed drivebys 50 times. They need to truly beat up that suspension - bumps, dips, ditches, and maybe a couple serious jumps - and do some repeated sharp cornering at speed, some hairpin turns, etc., before I declare it a 'great' car.

@ps3dubbs VW and Toyota are interested in the WRC, but we shall see. VW would be 2013 at the earliest, though 2014 is a possibility. VW and Toyota haven't made their final decision yet. If VW does decide to join the WRC, then an announcement will be made some time next year. Saab might join the WRC, but it won't be for a while, since they don't have the right vehicle for the WRC, and Spyker might use the 9-2 for the WRC.

@rendezvous65 VW concern motorsport plan was: VW - long rallies (dakar , silk way) AUDI - long circuits ( LE MANS ) SEAT - "short" circuits (WTCC) and ŠKODA - normal RALLY...... now, when the Škoda has a best S2000 car ( basic for 2011 WRC ) this plan must be remaked - VW - wrc and dakar , audi - lemans , and škoda only IRC .... this is nasty prosecc by VW , VW dont like Škoda because (for example) the Škoda Superb is same good car as a VW Passat but cheaper. I HOPE THAT ŠKODA WILL MAKE A WRC !

@wewerka911 I'll believe a VW WRCar when I see it on a rally stage. Skoda could easily do a WRCar, as they only would need to retune the engine for a larger restrictor, install an enhanced aero kit and better front brakes. Those are the only differences from S2000 to WRC next year. It would be a 1.6T, but the WRCars get all the better goodies. I agree with you that Skoda should join the WRC, and it wouldn't require that many changes.

@wewerka911 Rumor has it, that Skoda could use a version of the Seat 1.6T used in the WTCC, for their 1.6T car. VW could even use that engine if they do consider the WRC, but VW likes to talk a lot about something, and not actually doing it.

Are you having a laugh!!! A MINI Cooper not looking good in WRC spec!! The Counrtyman which this car will be based on is brand new and on the money. Being backed/developed by Prodrive you can guarantee success (remember Subaru?).

The original Mini Coopers dominated WRC way back when and won the Monte 4 times, so would be good to get some heritage into the modern WRC and not just watch Citroens and Fords.
