This is like a bitter song from the 80's about the social disappointment in the capitalist society right? I mean the failure of unions to fix things for their members in front of the economical crisis. ??
I believe this song refers to Union City New Jersey, where Debbie Harry worked and lived for a while as a dancer.. I happen to live a half a mile from Union City NJ.where that has been common knowledge for decades.
The group were just superb on TOTP! All my school mates fell 'in love' with Deborah Harry..!
