  • Hmm, strange that there is no mention of Sarah Jennings, Duchess of Marlborough, with whom Queen Anne had a lesbian relationship. Nor any mention of Hugh Despenser, who was undoubtedly King John's lover, nor the Duke of Buckingham who was King James I's lover. Very strange video indeed!

  • Isabella of Valois was really really beautiful...

May I ask, whose wife was Isabella of France? I remeber she was the wife of Edward II but I don't know for sure

  • @RaffaellaQ Yes she was the wife of Edward II :)

  • @RaffaellaQ yes, she was beautiful but alas Edward ll preferred the company of beautiful young men. She and her lover Roger Mortimer killed Ed by shoving a red hot poker up his behind while he was imprisoned at Berkeley Castle ewwwwww!

  • @Realalma Actually, I was saying that Isabella of Valois was beautiful, I wasn't talking about Isabella of France... And there is no proof that Edward was killed with a red hot poker up his behind, it's just a legend... But the fact that he preferred the company of young men is obvious, especially with Piers Gaveston (well, I think that was his name).

  • way to go Denmark keep marrying those British royals :D

  • Eleanor of Aquitaine, my inspiration and my ultimate homegirl.

Catherine of Aragon, the people's Queen.

  • Eleanor of Aquitaine is the person in history I'd like to meet most. I don't know if I'd like her or not, but she was some kind of super woman!

  • Nicely done! Thanks!

  • get ready to put Kate Middleton here

  • Elizabeth Woodville was quite beautiful

  • You left out the Duchess of Windsor, married to Edward VIII

  • @samk1101 Eddie eight abdicated before getting married!

  • Catherine of Valois looks scary.

  • They are interesting, I agree. The song is equally beautiful, too; good job =)

  • I love this video and the music so much!

  • charlotte was a black girl shes pretty pitiful that racist want to cover her up with that hideous makeup

  • @jon76398 Sorry she wasn't covered in make up. According to reports by physcians to the Queen after her death she was a lightly pigmented woman of Afro-Portugese descent. I think the painters of the day tried to make her features more European.

  • i am blushing, i never even thought of jane grey, i guess she was queen for a few days wasn't she, shortes riegn in history i think :P

  • George 1 divorced his wife in 1694 before he became King of England, therefore Sophia would not be considered a queen consort of England to her husband. Sorry for the mistake

  • techincally dudley should not have been included, there is not evidence that he and elizabeth the first had sex and they wern't even married consorts were royal spouces

  • @hyperswain The man in the painting is Guilford Dudley, husband to Queen Jane "Lady Jane Grey"

I believe you are refering to Robert Dudley

  • What happened to George the first's wife Sophia Dorethea. Wasn't she still his wife when he became King of England?

  • @kisha1682 Sophia Dorothea's marriage was dissolved before George became King of England, so she is not generally counted as a consort

  • 3:15...........Mary Of Modena! a goddess!!

  • Philip II of Spain looks so fear-inspiring/liquorishy

  • Almost the 2/3 are French, The english king have French blood

  • animegirlUK I LOVE YOU !!!!!

I haven't come across anyone else who understands the importance of calling English Queen Consorts by either their surname if they have one, or their Royal Patrimonial House name.

Alexandra of Denmark and Mary of Teck... quite correct. Bravo.

It is, technically correct to refer to the Queen Mother as Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon for she did have a surname. But it is equally correct to call her Elizabeth of Stathmore and Kinghorne, her father's Earldoms.

  • Eleanor of Aquitane has always been my favourite, just ike her Husband was my favourite King.

  • @MrJosh1901 She is the person from history I'd like most to meet. Her second husband must have been a handful, too!

  • Team Parr all the way!

  • Wow! Excellent!

  • Great video and the music added a nice touch to it!

  • Good comment AnimegirlUK.

  • My favourite artwork in this vid is Queen Adelaide of Saxe-Meningen, the detail on the dress is wonderful. Closely followed by Queen Henrietta Maria of France

  • For some reason I think Elizabeth Woodville would have been the best looking of them all- I don't know why-just speculation.

  • No, Mary of Modena was absolutely breathtaking.

  • what's the song by Vangelis? Chariots of fire?

  • It's called Rachel's Song
