@TheBeefyWizard35 I'm usually the one who defends the audience, but after hearing how clear it sounds on their cd, I'm starting to side with the "shut up" group. Haha.

Hey ya'll :) This is Jason Mabie from the 2003 Men's Octet (Shout), (Nirvana medley), (3rd solo in My Girl), etc. I just moved to L.A. and I'm working on building a presence in the scene here. i actually think its better with peoples' laughter in the background. shows that they love the performance and adds onto the funniness of their performance
@blinkmdg this is the kind of reaction acapella performers try to get from their audience, there is an element of humor and casual-ness (lol is that a word?) at these kinds of concerts. the people are supposed to laugh...just fyi.
@yishbot yeah in your redneck trailer-trash mud holes. In the rest of the civilized world we actually listen to the song instead of mindlessly hooting during it, ruining any chance for a normal person to enjoy the singing. If that's what your acapella groups strive for, then they're probably trying to hide their talentless performances by the droning of a crowd.
@blinkmdg Its a casual, fun college acapella concert. Sometimes people laugh and are rowdy, and for some songs they aren't so raucous. The performers try to be funny on purpose to get laughs, could you imagine if a comic was standing telling jokes and the audience was entirely silent?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@yishbot are you implying that a choir performance aims at the same crowd reaction as a stand up comedy act? I agree. It happens. But only in America. Even if this WAS a casual, fun, college acapella concert, this crowd reaction is stereotypical of any live performance over there. The act of getting psyched for no good reason is all a part of the definitive American herd-mentality.
@blinkmdg "shut the fuck up" "redneck trailer-trash mud holes" and other things you said were rude.
Yes, their purpose in putting on a song like this is to give the audience a good time and make them laugh, much in the way a stand up comic.
Maybe you think the audience is getting psyched up for no reason, but that might be because you are missing the jokes because you aren't as familiar with "The Lion King" and how this would be funny to a generation that it is such an icon to.
@blinkmdg Civilized people, no matter where they're from, don't go cursing and insulting others using terrible generalizations while hiding behind internet anonymity. I would imagine that they don't go around cursing or insulting others at all. If anything, you generalizing all Americans in such a way shows your own ignorance. But thats okay, I won't attribute that to you being Sri Lankan, its probably just because you're hateful.
No need to be so rude, i was explaining why something is.
@rockmyworldmichael it's not that he can't sing, he sings very well, its just that what he was singing in the beginning was a little bit out of his range
You can see none of them have ever watched Lion King, since they're singing Elton John's Can You Feel The Love Tonight instead of the Lion King version. Nevertheless, they're great :D
Love the Can You Feel the Love Tonight soloist....not only because he has a wonderful voice, but he's got such a dramatic flair to his performance! Bravo! Five stars!
It would be perfect without this audience ... I know that people were enjoying, but they are very noisy! But I loved the video! Do you boys sing extremely beautiful ! xD
@xxxRosexxx2 The Audience was probably comprised of students from the school and their friends and family. In other words, most of the people in the audience probably knew the performers. If you saw someone you knew up there doing that, you'd probably laugh too. ;)
The first soloist did fine in my opinion :P I gotta say, I personally think the men's octet back then is better than they seem to be now, from the videos I have seen. These guys just had a sense of taste and style- you need more than good voices for a good group. Great job!
I fucking LOVE that you went with the broadway version, yeeees.
Also, I do not hate the audience because if I was watching this live, I'd have the same reaction (Hell, I'm at home and I'm still like YEAH) You guys have some great stuff, singing and dancing included. Hell to the yeah.
I agree.. the girls in the audience were squilling, giggling and laughing waaaaaay too much.... But that's what young/old girls do....... . give the little girls "mellow out pills"..... I would say, "play it back" for them to hear themselves.....but I feel they enjoy hearing their "Girly Noise"..... and this is sad ... Lack of self control? Or is it simply, they don't care?
I'm actually surprised to hear the negative comments about the audience, it's pretty awesome to hear people enjoy it like I did. Dude, this is hilarious, not to mention awesome.
