@MegaBaseball29 I disagree he double taps easy throws and does not look comfortable at all. He is obviously athletic and rangy but SS does not appear like a good position. I think they have him playing outfield in the minors because of his speed. But dude is a very gifted catcher and a dynamic hitter.

dont believe that will happen? Try it, get in a catchers position with your right foot dragging and try sliding into blocking positions and see how awkward of off balance it makes you.
Also, when he gets up to throw the ball down, he's throwing across his body awkwardly because he needs to angle his shoulders higher almost like throwing from deep center, you wouldn't have your shoulders parallel to the ground because then you'd be throwing across your body and not as hard as you could be.

his right leg is draggin behind him in an effort to get a throw off better, but when he goes down and blocks the ball he won't be to tight and not relaxed and the ball will bounce off to the right. And when he has to slide over to the right, his left leg will stay up slightly opening up a gap in between his legs, his shoulders will be hunched over and he will be leaning over to much causing two problems, one the ball can bounce awkwardly off of im, and also he's a smaller target to block.
shortstop: when fielding he kept his top hand over the ball and he got around the ball and kept it left of centre which is very well done. Arm action changes for everybody. Probably didn't need to go to ground on the back hand, if he had taken a better route it would look cleaner.
Hitting: look he has pure talent, but that drift needs to be fixed, it's gonna affect him when the pitchers get quicker. He has raw power, good rotation, fast hands and good bat path.
are you only talking about catching mechanics or are you talking about other stuff? and how old are you? and you never named off catchers with great mechanics? are you ever going to back that up?
Im talking about catching mechanics only. Im 14. And I can't think of that many. Mainly because I haven't been able to watch any major league catchers for a while. All I can really emphasize is Joe Mauer. A lot of young new catchers coming into the majors have great mechanics. If you really care that much I can give more examples..
By the way here is a video I just found in the related videos section that is actually pretty much correct when it comes to mechanics. /watch?v=-w2-V0jB72o
you already said that, and you are still contradicting yourself. First of all, im 14 years old, hes 17 and a prodigy. NO SHIT SHERLOCK. Second of all, his mechanics are shit, who cares how physically above average he is, because I'm talking about mechanics.
Shut the fuck up. I never said I could hit that far bitch. I can hit homeruns with a wood bat. in a MLB field. He did it once he wont ever do it again. Especially with a wood bat
1. Aluminum bat FOR THE MOST PART just has a bigger sweet spot, not necessarily a better sweet spot. Most of the time, with a wood bat you can hit the ball just as far as the aluminum bat, just not as often.
2. You dont think he'll ever hit a ball out of an MLB field?
3. Your right, 550 feet, he can really hit it 600 feet with a metal bat.
4. The guys 16 or 17. Wait til hes 21, 22. Guys still get stronger well into there twenties.
5. If it's not such a big deal, then why can NO ONE else do it. The fact that he hits the ball farther than anyone else his age that uses an aluminum bat is more impressive then the numbers and how far it actually goes. That goes on to tell you maybe he has the potential to ATLEAST be the best player of his generation.
Oh and by the way, whats your point with being pitched 60 mph? The faster the pitch, the harder the hit. And also, the "600 ft" homerun shown on his E:60, wasn't hit off of 60mph pitching, it was atleast 70 or 75. I'm in 8th grade and I max out at 74, 75.
oh he wont do what again? hit a home run on an mlb field? you are a fuckin dumbass. hes playing junior college and has 6 home runs this season with fences that are 335-400.
GET THE FUCK OUT OH HERE!!!! He didnt hit no 600 foot home run. i watched that show and it rolled across the highway and went rolling another 100 plus feet. kid get off Bryce Harpers dick. Good for you im 15 and i throw high 70's mid 80's. good for you
Im not on his dick dueche bag. If you haven't noticed this whole conversation before you jumped in her has been about how I think his mechanics are shit. But clearly that doesn't mean I don't think he's incredible, because your a dipshit. And it didnt roll across the highway. They say dont believe everything you here, but if the kid can hit 550 ft off bp pitching, go fucking figure that he can hit a ball 600 feet off decent speeds.
By the fucking way, Im 13 and I max out at 76, and Im well into 99 percentile for kids my age's velocity. And im not going to be throwing mid fucking 80s in two years. Get a grip, what are you on steroids or something? 15 year olds dont throw mid 80s. My coach has 14u, 16u, and 18u teams, and the kids on his 18u team can top at upper 80s, maybe 1 of them can hit 90, 91.
so let me get this straight. your mechanics are right and 9 out of 10 major league catchers are wrong? so your mechanics are better than MLB catchers?? lmao you are one pathetic loser. i bet you are like some 13 year old dumbass who thinks you are the shit at catching and cant even get the ball to 2nd base without 2 hops.
when he was recieving the ball when he was framing pitches his body wasnt square he was cheatin his body to get the throw off faster and if he was softer on his front side and a little more in control i thing hed generate a ton more power
he wasn't cheating to get the throw off faster, he just has bad mechanics as a catcher. I've noticed that for some time, and I've noticed thats really one of his only major flaws.
even though bad mechanics as a catcher isn't as big of a flaw as say bad mechanics as a pitcher, but I've still noticed thats one of his only things he really needs to work on if he wants to be noticed more for his fielding abilities. Clearly he can throw the ball down to second better than most, and he can even do it from his knees, just because his physical abilities make up for it. I just think, when you have good mechanics your just thought of as a smarter and better player.
Do I have to be a baseball scout to judge that he has bad catching mechanics. I could tell you what is considered good catching mechanics and its easy to tell if its being done or not. I have seen it in many videos and im just making a judgement based on what I have been taught, not only what I have been taught but what ARE the right catching mechanics. He CLEARLY hasn't been coached well on catching.
oh so let me get this straight. everything that you have been taught is completely correct? and everything you do as a catcher is always right? you are a complete dumbass. i bet you think your catching mechanics are perfect and you probably think you are the shit too.
yeah he clearly hasnt been coached well huh? its not like he started at catcher for the 18U team USA team
you are completely wrong. You probably dont even catch. Im sorry, but my mechanics are right. Mechanics are done one of two ways, the right way, or the wrong way... You're not somewhere in the middle. You don't have to be the best catcher in the world to have good mechanics and vice versa.
Mechanics are mechanics and he doesnt have them, that doesn't mean hes not a prodigy of a ball player... 9 out of 10 major league catchers dont have the right mechanics.
Wow what are you guys talking about. He isn't off balance. I think he is getting his stride foot down a little later than normal, but some guys can get away with that.
But seriously don't try and put other players down to make yourself feel better, it just makes you look weak
thats good but id like to see him face real pitching... and did you see the aflac game? prime example. he does have a pro swing and great arm for catching but lets see how he can do against people that our his level. thats when we will find out how really good he is.
that aflac game was just a bad game. it happens to everyone. however thats the best competition hes played. so it couldve been a bad game or it was just that difficult.
@tboner01213...... ya the aflac game was with guys as old as 4 years older... thats like u when u were 12 playing against bryce.... ya bcuz off a 90 mph fastball youd hit 4 bombs in 1 game
Kids an amazing player, but that back hand he displayed was ugly! but other than that and the lil double clutch here and there yea he's pretty good! His back foot is all over the place and he is off balanced but seriously ask him if he's comfortable at the plate..
He is amazing at catcer and shouold stay their because im a shortstop and i can see he has a great arm but bad form at short pluse he double clutchs everytime he shlud definetly stay at catcher
He has skills more than any of you who shouldn't be talking even though you all sit on the chouch and watch baseball day be cause your to damn lazy to get a job doesn't mean you can give you shitty comments about a him when he can throw faster than most MLB players and has set world record for the 502 ft HR he hit at topicana field at the age of 16 so if can do better at his age then let your actions speak louder than your words or shut the hell up!!!
ya defiently doesnt have a weak arm buut i agree that he might have a little trouble blocking balls in the dirt buut once he gets to the drafted theyll work with him on that, he'll be fine tho
never make it as a catcher. weak arm and changes his stance when they tell him they're going to throw it in the dirt. need to have one stance and be able to react. mabye midle infielder but needs to get rid of that pump before he throws. don't have time for that in the bigs
Weak arm huh...Did you by any chance see the aflac all american game? He threw out one of the fastest kids in the nation and he almost back picked a kid from his knees at 2nd. Consistent 1.8-1.9 down to second also...I dont think that qualifies as "weak"
He is dropping out of high school and getting his GED and going to a juco to play baseball for 1 season and he will prlly be the number 1 pic in the 2009 draft next year
maybe it's just me, but that doesn't look that incredibly fast. I mean, he'd throw out anybody I know with seconds to spare, but doesn't look like the incredible hype I've heard about. But what do I know, if I saw him in person not just a video, it'd probably look like Jesus.

The fact that he hits the ball farther than anyone else his age that uses an aluminum bat is more impressive then the numbers and how far it actually goes. That goes on to tell you maybe he has the potential to ATLEAST be the best player of his generation.
noahmcdx 1 year ago
Oh and by the way, whats your point with being pitched 60 mph? The faster the pitch, the harder the hit. And also, the "600 ft" homerun shown on his E:60, wasn't hit off of 60mph pitching, it was atleast 70 or 75. I'm in 8th grade and I max out at 74, 75.
noahmcdx 1 year ago
oh he wont do what again? hit a home run on an mlb field? you are a fuckin dumbass. hes playing junior college and has 6 home runs this season with fences that are 335-400.
StraightCash081 1 year ago
GET THE FUCK OUT OH HERE!!!! He didnt hit no 600 foot home run. i watched that show and it rolled across the highway and went rolling another 100 plus feet. kid get off Bryce Harpers dick. Good for you im 15 and i throw high 70's mid 80's. good for you
JEudave13 1 year ago
@JEudave13 They have no exact measure of the hit you faggot
JEudave13 1 year ago
Im not on his dick dueche bag. If you haven't noticed this whole conversation before you jumped in her has been about how I think his mechanics are shit. But clearly that doesn't mean I don't think he's incredible, because your a dipshit. And it didnt roll across the highway. They say dont believe everything you here, but if the kid can hit 550 ft off bp pitching, go fucking figure that he can hit a ball 600 feet off decent speeds.

StraightCash081 1 year ago
By the fucking way, Im 13 and I max out at 76, and Im well into 99 percentile for kids my age's velocity. And im not going to be throwing mid fucking 80s in two years. Get a grip, what are you on steroids or something? 15 year olds dont throw mid 80s. My coach has 14u, 16u, and 18u teams, and the kids on his 18u team can top at upper 80s, maybe 1 of them can hit 90, 91.
noahmcdx 1 year ago
@noahmcdx your 13 and throwing. 76 that is pretty damn hard. i think i might of hit 70 when i was 13 and im 18 almost 19 and i only hit 90 once
Codesco2212 1 year ago
thanks, do you play college ball?
noahmcdx 1 year ago
@JEudave13 um no you dont throw mid 80's sorry. if you prove it to me through video i will believe it
Codesco2212 1 year ago
so let me get this straight. your mechanics are right and 9 out of 10 major league catchers are wrong? so your mechanics are better than MLB catchers?? lmao you are one pathetic loser. i bet you are like some 13 year old dumbass who thinks you are the shit at catching and cant even get the ball to 2nd base without 2 hops.
StraightCash081 1 year ago
when he was recieving the ball when he was framing pitches his body wasnt square he was cheatin his body to get the throw off faster and if he was softer on his front side and a little more in control i thing hed generate a ton more power
756F 2 years ago
he wasn't cheating to get the throw off faster, he just has bad mechanics as a catcher. I've noticed that for some time, and I've noticed thats really one of his only major flaws.
noahmcdx 2 years ago
are u a catcher?
StraightCash081 1 year ago
yeah.
noahmcdx 1 year ago
even though bad mechanics as a catcher isn't as big of a flaw as say bad mechanics as a pitcher, but I've still noticed thats one of his only things he really needs to work on if he wants to be noticed more for his fielding abilities. Clearly he can throw the ball down to second better than most, and he can even do it from his knees, just because his physical abilities make up for it. I just think, when you have good mechanics your just thought of as a smarter and better player.
noahmcdx 1 year ago
are you a baseball scout? have u seen this kid play catcher in a game or are you just judging him by this tryout?
StraightCash081 1 year ago
Do I have to be a baseball scout to judge that he has bad catching mechanics. I could tell you what is considered good catching mechanics and its easy to tell if its being done or not. I have seen it in many videos and im just making a judgement based on what I have been taught, not only what I have been taught but what ARE the right catching mechanics. He CLEARLY hasn't been coached well on catching.
noahmcdx 1 year ago
oh so let me get this straight. everything that you have been taught is completely correct? and everything you do as a catcher is always right? you are a complete dumbass. i bet you think your catching mechanics are perfect and you probably think you are the shit too.
yeah he clearly hasnt been coached well huh? its not like he started at catcher for the 18U team USA team
StraightCash081 1 year ago
you are completely wrong.
9 out of 10 major league catchers dont have the right mechanics.
noahmcdx 1 year ago
his hitting technique has changed alot from this video to the ones when hes playing area code
Nbaseballstud5 2 years ago
last comment. he definatly wont play SS he takes too long to get rid of the ball.

KilljoyO672 2 years ago
yo stop hitting with a metal bat hit with wood thats your real power.
osv629 2 years ago
Wow what are you guys talking about. He isn't off balance. I think he is getting his stride foot down a little later than normal, but some guys can get away with that.
But seriously don't try and put other players down to make yourself feel better, it just makes you look weak
CAG1993 2 years ago 11
ya and whose the one here who hit a 570 hr?
sbballer123 2 years ago
thats good but id like to see him face real pitching... and did you see the aflac game? prime example. he does have a pro swing and great arm for catching but lets see how he can do against people that our his level. thats when we will find out how really good he is.
tboner01213 2 years ago
that aflac game was just a bad game. it happens to everyone. however thats the best competition hes played. so it couldve been a bad game or it was just that difficult.
Lysergic32 2 years ago
@tboner01213...... ya the aflac game was with guys as old as 4 years older... thats like u when u were 12 playing against bryce.... ya bcuz off a 90 mph fastball youd hit 4 bombs in 1 game
sbballer123 1 year ago
Kids an amazing player, but that back hand he displayed was ugly! but other than that and the lil double clutch here and there yea he's pretty good! His back foot is all over the place and he is off balanced but seriously ask him if he's comfortable at the plate..
7JMoore7 2 years ago
back foot moves to much on swing off balanced
RaNDomSnIPe29 2 years ago

Rocker2396 2 years ago
ya defiently doesnt have a weak arm buut i agree that he might have a little trouble blocking balls in the dirt buut once he gets to the drafted theyll work with him on that, he'll be fine tho
peteisaboss 2 years ago
never make it as a catcher. weak arm and changes his stance when they tell him they're going to throw it in the dirt. need to have one stance and be able to react. mabye midle infielder but needs to get rid of that pump before he throws. don't have time for that in the bigs
dcam84 2 years ago
Weak arm huh...Did you by any chance see the aflac all american game? He threw out one of the fastest kids in the nation and he almost back picked a kid from his knees at 2nd. Consistent 1.8-1.9 down to second also...I dont think that qualifies as "weak"
crashdavis06 2 years ago
Hes 16. You idiot. Obviously Hes still learning. Hes already better than any 16 year old ever to play. Just think what he will be like in 5 years
XxFallenxTrooperxX 2 years ago
