Really like this song, in fact most of TK & the Pack's music. No matter what the issues were between TK & GFR Terry was a very talented man and helped to get GFR out there. Remembering Terry this month as it's 7 years since he was brutally stabbed to death. He paid the price by saving his daughters life! R.I.P. Terry Love & Peace!
In high school, I played drums with two good bands and both of them did this song and Better Man than I, the girls all went nuts for Terry Knight and the Pack, this is actually a Viet Nam War protest song. I always loved the drum work in this song. It was huge in Cleveland, Ohio in the 60's. Thanks for posting it, I have both of their songs on 45 rpm's, they may even be worth money these days, Lucky Eleven label. Great songs.
I bought this album when it first was released after seeing them on Dick Clark. I still have some of their stuff as well as the Terry, Don and Mel two record set ( there was also a Mark, Don and Mel two record set album greatest hits compilation. It's available on Amazon in a different format now.
he was the original producer and manager of grandfunk until mark blew up at him about a money issue and he killed grandfunk railroad untill they settled out of court and the album pheonix came out under a new producer i think todd rungren i,m not shure because he produced alot of their later stuff but they became too pop with locomotion and bad time to be in love .
Terry Knight had such a beautiful, powerful voice. It is such a shame that it is silenced forever. Many of his songs had a powerful message too, like this one. His cover of "I Who Have Nothing" is better than anyone else's.
TenStarsplus!!!! I remember this from 1969, the battle of the bands at Sherwood Forest in Davison, Michigan, and going there on my motorcycle!!!! I was 26 years old and living dangerously!!!! Thank you for posting this fantabulous video of this all but forgotten song, a personal favorite!!!
@BigDuckKetterer Im happy you love it, this particular song always move me so much, from the first time I heard it I was blown away, I was sleeping over at a friends house after a school party far from my house, and when we went to sleep he put on a tape with some 60s music on, this song was on the tape and it blew my head clean off, such a good message, such an excellent voice, so good :)

@BigDuckKetterer This was well before 1969. Terry Knight had left the Pack and went solo a couple of years earlier than 69.
