Did'nt quite get how to solder the wire to the output jack. Looks like one black wire. Do you splice it? If so, which one goes to the ground? Thanks, Ron
There are three wires coming from the output jack, and one wire coming from the bridge ground. Star ground together all the grounds, hook the output from the main pot to the output hot lead, the battery lead coming from the output jack to the battery 's positive terminal, and you should be good to go!
Okay, so I'm not sure if this is a stupid question or not, but I took the stock pickguard and pickups out of my Strat and am trying to replace it with a prewired Lace Sensor pickguard. I'm not sure how exactly I'm supposed to solder it on because there are no free wires. Maybe I'm just dumb, but there's no harm in asking, right?
umm this seems to b the only helpfull vid but i need an answer, i have an hss strat and a HH prewired pickguard, is there any way i can make my hss into an HH strat? i have a squire i want to upgrade
please please can some one tell me if its a good idea to put a dimarizio on a davemustaine signature v with humbukers i wanna know how to change them too
Help!!!! I have a guitar just like the one on the video. My problem is a hum noise in my amp. When i put my guitar in my leg the noise is greater than if I put it flat on my bed and this happends when I use the pickup selector swith in the first, third and fifth position. The second and fourth position seems to work noiseless. Anyone have an idea what's going on ??? My amp makes no noise when the guitar is not connected. Where is the problem ?? My amp or the guitar itself ?? Thanks guys.
@MrUssylover single coil pickups picking up 60 cycle hum. when its flat on your bed its not picking up the amp's tone so it doesnt hum, but on your leg the pickups are facing the speaker, picking up the amp itself.
second and fourth positions are 2 pickups together in a hum cancelling manor, wirin crap basically.
nothing is wrong, just ignore the hum or turn your gain down a little
Why doesn't it fit? Are you trying to install a 21 fret pickguard on a 22 fret neck guitar? Is the neck cutout too small for the neck butt? I'd need more info in order to help you out ... thanks for writing though ... Will
Will, this is a terrific video. Thank you for sharing it. We've featured it in Guitar Kit Builder online magazine. Please let us know if you have any objection. Thanks.
Greetings Will, Just checked out your "How to install a pre-wired pickguard assembly" video. I found it very informative & helpful. Thanks again cause I`m getting ready to do this to one of my guitars this weekend. After watching you, I feel confident in not srewing anything up. What sometimes looks easy, can be a pain in the butt when you have grandkids around. I usually have to wait till they get picked up to attempt anything like this.( If you know what I mean.) Thanks again! Peace - Oscar
@Metallicaforever95 NO , the standard strat bridge rout can not accomodate a floyd for their different demensions , but u can buy a floyd pickguard and a standard strat prewired and swap the pickguards
Yes, but you may have to trim the guard a little bit around the bridge cutout, if the mounting screws are different. Go slow, cut conservatively and it should be fine

Can you tell me why you switch the pickgaurds? And not just take the old out and stick the new in and wire the jack up?

@guitar62751 Besides, he says in the video that it'd take less than 30 minutes.

Be easier and get the Dimarzio Pre Wired Pickgraud. only takes like 5 mins. and all you need is a Screwdriver and a Wire stripper/cutter.
