  • Lee and his Hearts were one of the best a Capella groups out of the 50's from PHILADELPHIA. There is still so much soul and tenderness left in Lee's voice even at this age that will never be equaled. I saw him perform over twenty years ago at an Oldies Show where he had a female singer and one young male to form his trio. He still brought the house down.

  • Oh Lee, you and Butch White were still sounding so sweet. Butch Curry, Butch white, Ted, and Roy are all gone but you still can hold your own. Remembering the good times on Woodland Avenue, so many groups singing on the corners and at the recreation center. Mr. Hytower had this dance joint and we use to go there to dance, drink a coke and listen to the records of the day. Boy that was such fun. Nothing like that today!

  • So great to see the great Lee Andrews with an all male group!

They never made any recording less that great.

Their best releases were Lonely Room, The Fairest, Just Suppose, Bluebird Of Happiness.

I knew Lee's dad for many years who was a singer for The Dixie Hummingbirds, but he never told me that Lee Andrews was his son.

  • Incredible version, so many years later. Lee Andrews is a great talent and gentleman.

  • Couldn't wait to grab my favorite girl and dance to his velvet sounding tunes. Met him at the Philly dances in the late 50's and into the 60's. GREATEST voice ever and one classy guy.

  • Lee was doing a solo performance at the old 19th hole lounge one night on Jenkintown rd. in North Hills, Pa. around 1975, and he and I were bs'in about other groups of the doo wop era. I was toasted, but he was cool as usual. Among the well known groups of the time, I considered him to have the top voice of all leads, but my best friend couldn't believe I said that. I threw in Willie Winfield to appease him, and the disagreement ended. He is a class act all the way.

  • He seems like a genuinely wonderful person! His soul shows through his face. I love this song!

  • This song is one of the great songs by Lee. He has a great voice. I am also from West Philly.......

  • Thank you!!! I used to listen to this with my older brother who passed away in 1969 at the age of 25. He's still with me in the musid.

  • GREAT!

  • This video is priceless. Lee Andrews

sings like he knows what we've all been

through. Love his vibrato. Thanks. Barbara

  • You're Welcome. Glad you liked it.

  • I love love Lee Andrews. He sang songs of great tragedy and heartache. I will love "Long Lonely Nights" for all eternity.

  • What a great man, Mr. Lee Andrews. Lee and his Hearts have made many guy's and gal's oh so happy over the years.

  • I love Lee Andrews-- I had a chance to meet him years ago at a local concert, and he was SO nice to his fans!!! Thanks, Ben.

  • I want to add my thanks to you for posting this, Schrooms. I believe Lee recorded this one after he had gone solo. Why he is not more famous is beyond me. He had impeccable taste in his song selection. One of the greats from West Philly.

  • Yes Lee,you are a great singer,and i didn't know off you until the other day.Thanks again.

  • The great Mr. Lee Andrews!!! What a privilege to see this great performance!

  • this has always been my forite song of theirs...beautiful!

  • Thanks Schrooms, for putting on video one of the greatets voices of the Doo Wop era, Mr. Lee Andrews. I strongly feel that Lee never put out a bad song. If you can come up with "The Bells Of St Mary" by Lee Andrews & The Hearts, I would appreciate it.

  • Lee Andrews. So underrated as a vocalist. I always found these lyrics to be funny, though. Apologizing to his pillow because he's crying into it! LOL. Nonetheless, one of the most underrated lead singers of the era.
