The USCG Medium Range Recovery (MRR 700NM range) fleet is being upgraded to the MH-60T. The upgrade is primarily avionics. Glass cockpit, coupled autopilot, moving map etc.
Ah. I'd say they never do anything that cool here, but then i remember a few years back the National Guard was doing practice landings in a wooded area that was pretty much my friend's back yard. He didn't tell me about it, i came over there, and we were out back smoking, when out of nowhere this black hawk comes roaring over his house. And lands like 20 yards away from us. I was like " what the hell have you gotten me into this time?" lol
The Coast Guard is upgrading the HH-60 to the MH-60T, also the Navy is replacing the SH-60* with the MH-60R and MH-60S...but at least the Army paints their MH helos black, that's cool I guess :dunno:
Yeah that would be an HH-60J jayhawk. But thats pretty cool. What air station was that out of, cause i know you can send in a request for a jayhawk to do a flyover or land at public events from air station cape cod
yeah, you're right, check my videos out. I'm only in half of them. I guess being a Coast Guard MH-60J (and soon the MH-60T) crew chief and mechanic, I don't know what I'm talking about
Im am very sorry if my comment rubbed off the wrong way with you. I am a student pilot who's only real goal in life is the fly the Jayhawk. I live near Air Station Cape Cod and watch the Jayhawks and Falcon Jets fly over all the time. I read the books and i've only seen that helo as the HH-60J but considering your a crew chief and mechanic you would know the truth.
Still wrong on the designation. HH-60 is the designation for the USAF Pave Hawk. Coast Guard is only SH-60 with a couple of different variants. HH-60G crew chief here.
I remember going to this too. i was at woodbury at the time though but we walked across the field to see the coast guard helicopter.

That would make every kid there want to be in the coast guard

the Coast Gaurd version is actually an HH-60, not an MH.
misfit137 4 years ago
You're right. Thanks for the correction!

The HH-60B is the Navy Only variant. The HH-60J is the Coast Guard variant.
MAVWOLF 4 years ago
You mean the SH-60B. There is no such thing as a HH-60B.
