Having both a ford 2002 f250 super duty 4x4 7.3 diesel and a 1989 Toyota 4x4 3.0 liter. Skill and experience can overcome most impediments, including sand dunes.

Second, the supplier that supplies Toyota's electronic throttles also supplies the American Big 3 with them.
Third, regardless of what media hype made you believe, Toyotas with electronic throttles do NOT have the most occurrences of unintended acceleration. I don't know who has the most, but GM vehicles do have about twice as many occurrences.

And you might be surprised how well the smaller vehicle might do. I used my 2 door '94 Explorer 4wd with 31" tires to pull an F250 with 39.5" tires out of mud. I also pulled out quite a few other trucks that were bigger and heavier with bigger tires.
The f250 most likely has thinner tires and it weights twice as much as the Toyota. The Toyota is one of the smallest trucks ever made so it weights a lot less. The f250 if it had all the right pressure in the tires and wider tires compared to the size of the truck. The f250 probably is just off the street and not custom at all and the Toyota is highly customized.

I am a Ford guy and I like Toyota. By the yota is around 2500 lbs. I weighed one a couple weeks ago the Ford weighs about 6500 lbs, so, yeah it was pretty obvious which would fair better. Next time use a tundra against an F150.

In addition to tire inflation, the Toyota driver is also much better at off-roading. Notice how he maintains consistent speed up the hill by applying just enough throttle to climb the hill without losing traction from excessive wheel spin, while the Ford driver loses momentum by hesitating slightly at the bottom of the hill and then spins his tires wildly, losing traction, as he tries to actually climb the hill. Skill and experience can overcome most impediments, including sand dunes.

@alecfordguy First off, the Toyota is an older one and doesn't have the electronic throttle that caused the problems with unintended acceleration..
Second, the supplier that supplies Toyota's electronic throttles also supplies the American Big 3 with them.
Third, regardless of what media hype made you believe, Toyotas with electronic throttles do NOT have the most occurrences of unintended acceleration. I don't know who has the most, but GM vehicles do have about twice as many occurrences.

Then again, since there isn't a NEED to do a tug-of-war in real-world situations, it's a moot point.
But recreational off-roading IS a real world situation, and the Toyota does better at that overall.
And you might be surprised how well the smaller vehicle might do. I used my 2 door '94 Explorer 4wd with 31" tires to pull an F250 with 39.5" tires out of mud. I also pulled out quite a few other trucks that were bigger and heavier with bigger tires.

The f250 most likely has thinner tires and it weights twice as much as the Toyota. The Toyota is one of the smallest trucks ever made so it weights a lot less. The f250 if it had all the right pressure in the tires and wider tires compared to the size of the truck. The f250 probably is just off the street and not custom at all and the Toyota is highly customized.

Third, the idiot let off the first two times in the Ford. Tires and air pressure as you mentioned.
