Germany was left in ruins from constant bombing on both sides & would've suffer the same fate as Japan if the bomb had been available. Germany was working on developing the bomb but couldnt complete it, as were the Americans; it was called The Manhattan Project. Robert Oppenheimer, an American Scientist, was the father of the Atomic bomb. German scientist helped develop our rocket/icbm program from their V2 technology & contributed what they knew but they didnt give us the bomb!

Also, at the end of the war it was found that they were far behind us. Partly because most of the scientist that working in this field were Jewish, which they considered inferior. If anyone, the US owes Albert Einstein, a german jew more than anyone else for helping build the A-bomb. Germany did not give the US the atomic bomb, which is a common misconception. They gave them missle and jet technology.

We dropped the bombs because it was payback for the Pearl Harbour bombing...Bottom line: We should NOT have dropped the bombs. All we had to do was to show a "demonstration" to ALL THE WORLD LEADERS to witness a "test," of the bombs destructive power. If you surrender, your country would be spared. Any leader would have shuddered after witnessing the power. Thus, the war would have ended...Sad that America used the bombs WITHOUT demonstration first...We were WRONG

Actually we did do a demonstration first, then we sent it to the leader or Japan and told him if he did not surrender Nagasaki would be just like the city in the demonstration. I also learned that on the low Japan was experimenting with REALLY High Tech weaponry before we bombed them. They actually had a Ray Gun...It was crude though. It cooked you from the inside out like a microwave in seconds you were dead.They were gonna hit the world with that but luckily we bombed the SHIT out of them

Amazing video. Kids of today, please watch and learn. This is some of the only footage you may ever see of the *human element* of nuclear war. Color and B/W footage was shot after the war, but classified by the US government so "Average Citizens" could insulate us from the reality we bombed civillians--mostly women, kids and the elderly. There was an alternative to dropping the bombs on the two cities in Japan, an alternative proposed by some of the scientists in the USA who had made the first A-bombs. They proposed a demonstration of one bomb off the coast of Japan to the Japanese leadership. If they still refused to surrender, then the USAAF would carry out the planned attacks. Why was this not carried out?
