  • mini coopers are fun! Nice job!!

  • wow great one!

  • Nice render dude.

  • @lukassstyyy cool, thanks! =) i love people who do tutorials!

  • tech's powerful today, but it'll take programing nerds years to really get the grip how proto realism should look like.

  • great animation, what did you render it in? plug-ins? im interested in the back plates, i diddn't know about them until now

  • @gobacktorussia hey! thanks ;)

    rendered using maya's mental ray.

    nope, no other plug-ins.

as for back plates, maybe this can help? :D

  • @minifong oops, I cannot post the link here, so I'll PM you ;)

  • it's not bad, but you need to add motion blur. that should add a bit more realism to it.

  • @effectsfreak oh yeah motion blur! I see... I never thought of that... I'll try rendering cars with mb the next time round. thank you! =)

  • Nice work ronald :)

    Got a few comments.

The shadow is a bit too dark and it blend too much with yr black wheel but i know its hard to do nice soft shadow in AE.

And at the side of the road, overlap it with some sand and grass. So that it the road will

blend in nicely with the grass and surrounding.

The ending shot, the window is too dark. Maybe yr car no interior? Cos if can see through a bit will make it more interesting and more realistic.

Keep it up. Looking forward to yr next work!

  • Thanks weiren!

I agree that the shadow is too dark! Oh, it's nothing got to do with AE, I had a separate shadow pass. :) When I was compositing, I had the luxury of a high-definition render and when large, the shadows look perfect on my display. After compressing to a playably compression and youtube's compression after uploading, something bad happened.. :P

  • Yeah, I observed that the grass and road looks a little CG, but it's REAL! It's a stock photo, so I didn't think of retouching that part. Nice suggestion! Shall take note the next time I work with stocks ;)

  • On the contrary, the ending shot is the ONLY shot that has the interior!! Hahaha, because I'm award that that's the only shot that we should be able to look through the glass because of a relatively lit background.. Again.. the compression killed it..

  • Probably I'll open up the AE file and do some tweaks when I have time ;D

    Thanks for your comments!

  • great!! especially from the back..

ps: how long have u been doing 3d?
