  • How can people even say the fruit stinks? It's the best goddamn fruit there is!

  • It's taste better if you make durian smoothies out of it!

  • i called this fruit "vagina fruit" its smelly but its so fuckin good!

  • My mother said it smelled like my cat..

  • what

  • Even bear grylls wouldn't eat that

  • why don't u try to plant the seeds?

  • @labitmu

if you live in a NON-tropic area, you will wait until your funeral but the seed will never grow

  • I love fresh durian. Unfortunately, it is too expensive. I have to settle for the frozen ones.

  • watching white people eat durian is always entertaining

  • I have six trees back in my village in Penang. The trees are tall and the branches growing almost perpendicular to the main trunk. The fruits are found on the branches as well on the trunk itself. The leaves are quite distinctive, and I'd recognise them anywhere, since they have a silvery sheen on the underside. The King of Fruits is a slice of heaven, without a shadow of a doubt!

  • looks like a fucking dousche

  • oh, god i smelled one before in Andrew Zimmerman would say "That smells rancid!"

  • IT'S BETTER FROZEN! :D

  • heard it smells like ass

  • @itzMarioable I think it smells like old garbage.

  • get a knife to cut the durian!

  • United Kingdom has that fruit sell in Birmingham, London and Liverpool Chinatown.

  • i am European and i am live in the United Kingdom.... The smell was strong and i like to eat the edible one...

  • smell piyou!! that is such strong smell on the king of the fruits!

  • omg I love durian I only had it once at a raw food potluck.

I had made one of those fruit flowers arrangement & had brought some raw vegan chocolate dip sauce and we started dipping the durian in the chocolate (from whole foods) and everyone loved it.

I didn't notice a bad smell much. I think maybe that is stronger if it was not previously frozen like ours was

We were in heaven saying it tasted like eating raw chocolate éclairs but all healthy of course. I tasted like custard I would say

  • This is not an insult I just want to say you have a very interesting accent! I want to say you are from Australia but lived in the southern U.S. for a while? anyway, Nice video!

  • You dont even pronounce the name of the fruit right!

AND YES IM ASIAN AND TO ME THATS JUST COMMON TO US..

    (im just sayin)

  • You don't suck on the seed of a Durian, it tastes like shit.

    It's not a Peach.

  • Chermoya!

  • The guy is a Texan isn't he?

  • wow you were really brave in trying the durian, even after smelling it! But the expression afterwards was pretty priceless :D like you were going to puke.

What i find with durian is the the first bite is always the best, but if you continue eating it tends to get a bit sour for some reason. The texture is the best. I think the best way to eat it is to chill it so that its like ice cream :)

  • don't forget Thailand.......... =_=

  • i love bizzare foods! he hates durian. but someone got him to taste, and like it in a different way last week. and he liked it :P

  • I think the best way to describe the taste of durian is that the consistency is like a cherimoya (or if you've never tried cherimoyas, then it is similar to custard), and the flavor is like vanilla pudding/custard pudding with sweet yellow onion added to it. So, a yellow onion flavored vanilla custard pudding. It is very creamy and rich, tastes like it's something that would have lots of calories in it. hahaha. I love the stuff. It's an expensive addiction, but i love it!

  • They actually have nets that catch the durians.

  • my teacher went to asia and brought us all little candy treats called the GOLDEN DURIAN. it tasted like sulfur. we had 4 students who puked in the class. my teacher was put on probation for being unprofessional

  • Lovely young man; so refined in his manner of speech and being. Thank you for the description of durian. I think I might just try it some day.

  • search for video "Malaysia's Durian Wonderland " in youtube there are plenty of types of durian. Try the real ones not hybrid. they taste much better

  • I grow these for a living and can tell you for a fact that that is not a durian. That is obviously a carrot!

  • whear do u get the fruits i live in scotland and they dont have them in tesco a huge supermarket

  • you can open a durian by using your own body weight. Just stand on it and push , the ends will crack. Simple way to open durians , used to do it when we stole durians from the orchards :D

  • I love durian

  • LOL you bought it. Me, as a Malaysian, I FRICKKING PICK MY OWN DURIAN FROM MY OWN DAMN ORCHARD!!! Ha Ha!!!

    (Why do I even brag?)

  • @BBBDaman556FinalForm

AND LOL, YOU PUT THIS UNDER ENTERTAINMENT!!!

  • @BBBDaman556FinalForm I, too, have my own orchard. (albeit it is a family property currently)

  • :o) this video makes me laugh. you look like you're about to vomit but you manage to keep it in. congrats!

  • Dude go to indonesia.

$5 for teh finest quality in jakarta

    Honestly homeland of Durian

    PS: sory bad engrish

  • I love cherimoya!!

  • i bought mine yesterday and it was very expensive...i cant wait to try it....but the problem is i dont know when to open it....in other words...i dont know when its actually ripe so that i can see the slits

  • That's a good question. You'll notice two things. One the smell will become stronger and also you'll find some of the slits start to open up naturally. Just pay attention to the smell most of all. But these things are typically sold fairly ripe, you shouldh't have to wait more than a day.

  • @changdae11

If its green its not ripe to open it u can use a knife from the top to chop it down and if your strong u can do it with ur hands

  • I just got back from NYC and had no luck finding durian in Chinatown. We must have gone to five little grocery stores.I guess its not " in seaso " .

  • Season I mean.

  • you should look in Vietnamese supermarkets (if they have some in NYC) because the ones in California have them all-year-around

  • Well,I don't live in Southern Calif anymore.I rarely visited the markets either.I did buy a can of "jackfruit " at a Asian store recently but haven't opened the can yet.I may go to a big Asian store in another town near mine and see if they have any?

  • I think the bad smell is overrated. When people say it has a bad smell as if they mean it smells like trash but it's not that at all.

  • to me, it smells like it taste's, very sweet, i dunno how people smell trash from it...but fortunately i only smell sweet.

  • i'm really curious about this fruit now... i want to try it..

  • u should try it.... honstly the worst thing about this fruit is the smell but the taste is amazing =)

  • do you know where i can buy it?

  • umm i guess the best place to look for them are in asian super markets like T&T

  • the fruit not grow in the top of the tree the fruit grown in a branches.

  • Your point is senseless. All trees start with branches and grow upward. Look at any durian tree or any tree for that matter and the fruit are on the branches and since the branches are up top this is a legitimate statment.

  • LMAO!!!! i think imma go to china town tomorrow, to buy one! lol

  • @dakeasy The fruits can grow high up at the top branches and also the lower branches. Fully matured durian trees, of course, have high branches. (the durian tree happens to be the tallest among fruit trees, if I am not mistaken). There are few durian trees in my family fruit estate/orchard that have circumference equal to that of a circle made by 3-men holding their fully-stretched arms.

  • @UltimaGravitas Peace from Malaysia.

  • DURIAN = KING OF ALL FRUIT

  • i like this guy....hes not like those other white guys that describes it as onion

  • you sound like mr. garrison...

  • i love to describe durian as my exgirlfriend.

I love durian but i just cant stand her sometime.

  • Nice video David. Happy to see you can eat it and keep it down. I happen to really like durian fruit myself.

  • did you do some sort of research or for fun?looks like you make an effort about the fact :) thanks for posting the vid heheh

  • FRESH!! FROM CHINA TOWN> Look at the fruit. Thats NOT frozen :-)

  • okay then.just asking...

  • the fruit your were thinking of was a cherimoya maybe

  • @dakeasy it's fresh when it just fall from the tree and that is when it tastes the best. try frying the flesh with a bit salt and sliced meat until its golden brown. you'll noticed it taste different.

  • did you get the fresh or the frozen one?i always heard people from the US got it frozen.i swear it taste better than ever when you eat it fresh.come to my country and taste the fresh one :D

  • so about 300 people watched a white guy eat a giant fruit

  • Looks like it. What has this world come to?

  • Hey Guy No Prob!

  • Its Zimmern Not Zimmerman

  • Hey guy thanks!
