This is the greatest Isolde available to us at the present - she is singing Waltraute in the Met's new "Goetterdaemmerung" while the incapable Debbie Voigt gives us another underwhelming Wagner Portrayal of Bbruennhilde!!!
@AlexanderBritain I was at the opening night performance. My wife and i really enjoyed ourselves. Debbie Voigt did a good job. But Waltraud Meier was great. Bear in mind though, that Waltraud has a small part, and could really cut loose. Also, I don't think she is willing to sing Brunhilde, so how well she would have done as Brunhilde is a moot point..
3 dislikes ? i would like to hear what scholars/experts opinions of this performance and my personal gold standard..kirsten flagstad w/ w. furtwangler conducting the philharmonia.are.
She's beautiful. Her voice is a wonder! I had the pleasure to hear and to see her in february in Berlin, as Ortrud in Lohengrin. She was the best part of that performance. :) She still sounds so young! Her technique must be flawless.
