Fastest way to do it and get AP is just fighting against Don Tornberry and using Tidus OD every turn =). Maybe a little slower but you are killing 2 birds with one stone

@MasterJackPacker When Zanarkand get's destroyed at the beginning, Auron gives you a sword on the highway, "A gift from Jecht.". It's called the Longsword I think. However, I have one that looks exactly the same but it's customized. Diferent abilities alter a weapon's design =)

Fastest way is equipping tidus with electrical weapon and armor and attacking the electrical elementals in the thunder plains. You have the Overdrive charged for every turn, your weapons heals the enemies, and you take no damage. Overdrive, heal (enemies), repeat. It takes about 1-2 hours. Thumbs up so people can read this.

I got Blitz Ace in Thunder Plains. The Overdrive mode Slayer fills the gauge by 1/5 every time you kill ANY enemy, even if you kill them with an overdrive, so you can almost pull off an overdrive every 2 battles.

I beat FFX without using the Sphere Grid once. Mind you, it took several years to complete it and was a pain, but I am the only one I know who has done it before. Anybody agree with me that it is EXTREMELY hard to do?

You can do this pretty early in the game:

After Guadosalam, buy a Lightningward armour for Tidus and go to the thunderplains. Get the Loner OM and then start looking for a Gold Element, then just dish out Spiral Cuts on it. Since its an elemental, it will take less damage from the attacks and you can hit it as much as you want it will resist. If you can at this time, have it so someone casts Reflect on Tidus before escaping, that way the element can recover itself when attacking Tidus.

I went to bikanel island an set his overdrive mode to slayer, put triple overdrive on his weapon and used energy rain when there was 3 enemies, doing 9999 damage each it'll kill them in one refilling his overdrive in one battle

you can easily get blitz ace as soon as you get to the travel agency in the thunder plains. when you pick up the thunder shield, equip it and get into a fight with one or better 2 larva. have loner and they heal themselves. you can get it in one match. its easier with haste

@Flipazn777 Neither. There's several comprehensive guides online that tell you exactly what you need to do in order to beat the game without the sphere grid. It takes a LOT of customization and item collecting, but it's really not all that difficult. The first time I played the game I was around 10-12 and thought the sphere grid levels were my actual level. I got to Djose Temple without leveling. So it's possible.

@tnasisi It's quite possible to beat the whole game, including all of the optional bosses, without ever touching the grid. (Although Shinryu involves and incredible amount of luck.)

@lindh76m if it is only No Sphere Grid it is kinda easy BUT time consuming, since you can customize weapons, No Customize on the other hand... i'll be praying for Greater Sphere to drop Auron a bracer with Auto-Phoenix inside it..

@lindh76m oh and to add some note, the boss starts from the first Sphere you fought in Macalania is ALMOST ALWAYS susceptible to Poison, so using Poison Fang for the rest of the battles (ALL Seymour, Sanctuary Keeper, Spectral Keeper, Yunalesca) will easily hold them off in No Sphere Grid run (just steal from some wasps when you got Rikku the first time)

I did this but in the start of the game. It took me some hours to get to energy rain then it went really easy. If you vs 3 guys and you do energy rain once all your overdrive will come back when you have slayer... Hope this helps!

There's also another way, but it's freaking freak XD

First time you face the sinscales (Zanarkand with Auron) have Tidus kill them until he gets Slayer. Go on with the game normally, but change his OD mode to that ASAP. Now, with Rikku, kill fishes until you're tired of it. And in Besaid kill dingos until you learn Haste. In the ship to Kilika, cast Haste over Tidus and keep killing sinscales, forget Sin. Thus, you can get Blitz Ace before facing Lord Ochu :D

OBTAINING LONER OVERDRIVE MODE AND BLITZ ACE.

Thunder Plains, AFTER Tidus got Yellow Shield outside Rin's Agency.

1. Equip on Tidus.

2. Fight Thunder casting enemy (Larva is best)

3. Kill other enemies if there are any.

4. Rikku use a Chocobo Feather on Tidus. Not essential.

5. Other characters escape/die so that only Tidus is left.

6. Defend for 60 turns to learn Overdrive Mode "Loner".

7. Then Escape.

8. Set Tidus' Overdrive mode to "Loner"

9. Repeat Steps 2-5 above

10. Defend with Tidus until Overdrive Bar filled up - 7 turns

11. Perform Overdrive Slice and Dice: Perform 10 OD's Energy Rain: Perform 20 more OD's Blitz Ace: Perform 50 more OD's

12. If you attack between OD's instead of defend and have a Lightningstrike weapon equipped, you will heal the enemy and so it won't die.

13. YOU will not die because of Lightningproof so battle could go on forever

@ffxCrompty74 There's a much easier way to get it. Although it requires 35-40 minutes of grinding right at the beginning of the game. The first battle where you have Sinscales in front and behind you, you can actually acquire 2 sets of 4 overdrives (for Auron and Tidus) in the 35-40 minutes of grinding.

I decided to stay on besaid island (before kilika) one time and just fought till i leaned it, got a few overdrive modes to and had yuna with level one black magic then I put her back on her white mage path. And without doing that I lean it way before the calm lands its not hard or difficuly its not like Cloud or Squall. All you have to do it perform over drives along the way. Slayer helps. Once you have that you don't even need to try

triple overdrive, slayer overdrive mode and energy rain spam wins all IMO. Tidus will get the first attack because of his speed (if you dont have rikku on your party) and then he will just energy rain and everything will die and with slayer + triple OD he will get full overdrive gauge from the 2/3 kills that he gets ( only 2 and 3 monster battles in besaid)

I got a way! First, set Yuna to healer mode. Then Tidus Warrior mode. Let Rikku kill herself with magic Or tidus can kill her. then yuna use full-life on Rikku then her overdrive will charge half. repeat one more time then yuna overdrive fulled. entrust yuna's overdrive to tidus. then use energy rain. use this many times then u might master it!!!!!!! XD

theres actually an easier way that can be done much earlier in the game at the thunder planes the first time. get the shield outside the rest place that has null lightning. get into a fight with two larvae after getting loner overdrive. and there you go. they heal themselves and you dont get hurt. it goes by pretty quick

the amount of overdrives u need Tidus to use is total. the count doesnt reset when he learns a new overdrive i think. and u dont have to use energy rain, it can be any overdrive

Blitzace gives a huge amount of damage to an enemy (more then Slice and Dice on a single enemy) Tidus hits the enemy 8-10 times, then unleash a massive AOE damaging attack.

use overdrive 20 times for slice and dice

40 more times for energy rain

60 more times for blitz ace

total overdrive uses: 120

LOL The heartbreaker? I got like 5 of those. Triple Overdrive with Four Slots. I don't exactly who I got it from but I've been beating Earth Eater and Greater Sphere so one of those should give it to you. For triple overdrive you can bribe that sand worm from Bikanel island 900000 for 15 average winning formulas. (You need 30 for triple overdrive)

I second the sinspawn farming to get it, it's a great way to farm AP early on, too.

I've beaten the game 5 times without bothering with blitz ace or wakka's reels. It's not hard at all if you have the patience to customise your grid. The final boss shouldn't need blitz ace, it's unfortunately a very easy battle.

Fastest way to get blitz ace is to learn the "slayer" mode at the very start at the game by killing 100 sinscales that infinitely respawn and don't attack, then in the fight against sin's fin on the first boat ride, KO the other two fighters, haste yourself and keep doing spiral cuts and killing the other sinscales to recharge. Then you have Blitz Ace after the game's third boss battle.

Just to clear the questions about the low health, it's a No Sphere Grid Challenge.

In the challenge, you don't use the sphere grid. Of course, the challenge is voluntary, just to make yourself a better gamer, nothing else really.
