  • troppo forte!!!!!!

  • Disney would later retroactively use SOPA to censor this scene from all copies of FMJ.

  • 15 ppl are terrorists or vietnamese.

  • Greatest ending ever I sang it to school hella loud in 8th grade everyday

  • watching this part of the film, I believe I've developed my own interpretation of "Full Metal Jacket": the film, for me, seems to be a metaphor of growing up. For example, the first half represents childhood, with the privates being like babies and later kids and Hartman being a very strict father figure, while the second half is a methaphor of puberty. If you think about it, when you watch this ending, it kind of makes sense, at least for me.

  • "I haven't got time, For this mickey mouse bullshit!"

  • sick of people using paint it black

  • @burnopfieldbloke It didn't help tour of duty ripped it off a couple months after full metal jacket came out.

  • @burnopfieldbloke he did not add it to the video, thats the song at the end of the actual movie

  • Stanley Kubrick in his interview 'Stanley Kubrick's Vietnam' by Danièle Heymann says: "What I wanted to suggest here was that these boys who are fighting this war are very, very close to the children they used to be, when they sat in front of the television and sang the Mickey Mouse song [...]"

  • I first watched this with a group of friends and me and another friend had paint it black as our ringtone so when it started we both jumped up trying to find our phones XD

  • when i heard the mickey mouse part my reaction: WHAT THE FUCK XD

  • Shit.. What a fucking great way of ending a movie :)

  • I believe one of the main reasons they sing this song is because its a way of going back to "the world". They'd seen enough of war and had to deviate from that mentality because of what they had experienced. A simple mickey mouse for them could go a long way.

  • Kubrick brought it all together. As humanity, we all want to be together and band together for something that we know. But.. we will always have other motives. And as humans we will exploit those motives as far as they can possibly go. Humans are born evil and taught good. Ultimately, Marine Corps was the best thing to be.

  • no one could for get mary jan rotten crouch

  • M-O-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E

  • Mickey Mouse was never made more epic than in FMJ :D

  • Everytime I see the ending for this movie, I always expect the annoucement for the next movie to play over the credits song...

In my case it was: "Up next Bruce Willis has to take on the entire government in Mercury Rising".

As it played the first time I saw this movie Lol :D

  • Best ending to a movie EVER!!!

  • Full Metal Jacket is a serious film. Not flippy...and this scene is a bit out of context. The film itself, in it's entirety should be watched. A distant second to Apocalypse Now, I would say...but nevertheless, worth watching, if you want to know some truth about war.

  • @55ella2007k you'll know some truth once you've signed up for the military and have actually seen war.

funny thing is, even veterans do not agree with the typical anti-war view as expressed by kubrick and his ilk.

your perception of "truth" is nothing more than an illusion. war is not something you can sum up in a 2 hour movie, as brilliant as kubrick is, he's not a philosopher, but an artist.

  • @zackhanscom My Marine Corps dad told me decades ago that he was going off to war to save the world for the Mousketeers. I don't think Stanley Kubrick is against war -- the end of this movie says the same thing my Dad told me when the original Mickey Mouse Club was still on every kids' TV set at 5 p.m. Wars are necessary as long as you are fighting on the side of Walt Disney.

  • Mickey Mouse ties Joker in with Pyle. Remember when the drill sergeant said "what is all this Mickey Mouse shit?" Right before private Pyle killed himself?

Private Joker failed to save Private Pyle, and that was Private Joker's first exposure to death. In the end when Private Joker kills the girl, that was Joker's first kill.

  • @Ospire i'm not seeing the significance of that particular connection. the mickey mouse saying is more a general term for something nonsensical and silly. it's more a general theme about the senselessness of war. other micky mouse references are extant, like at the correspondent's headquarters there's a mickey mouse doll.

what joker is doing singing along with everyone else is that he's become a casualty, in mind and spirit to the senseless nature of war.

  • @Ospire the first confirmed kill on the block xD

  • Sometimes I really feel the need of Stanley being alive again. Like 13 masterpieces aren't fucking enough.

  • You know, for me it's strange & scarry that adult people, who are not men already, can sing only a song for kids. That is the only thing/song what connects their soul. That is that scares me because in Hungary there are song which are for soilders especially.

    Sorry for my bad English

  • Paint it Black song in Twisted Metal Black!!

  • ...This scene disturbed me, idk why, its not a bad scene all things considered, but marching through a burning village singing a kids song...yeah

  • @DemonLord120 picture your self their. You have to ligten the mood. This is a good way to do it.

  • TypicalYanks god bless them

  • sTONES!

  • I don't like most War movies, but this is one of those that I just love

  • @panicked94 because this movie isnt about warheroes, but over war itself, not showing u.s. army over all, but the cruelties of war and what soldiers following orders go through ... it's more an anti-war-movie, not a war-movie ;)

  • I'm in a world of shit, yes. But i am alive, and i am not afraid. Motto of my life

  • even though this is Marines. we sing this too. its the shit and everyone knows it

  • Excellent film and scene. Kinda felt sorry for the Viet girl who was praying as she was dying...even though she killed 8 ball, Doc J and Cowboy. It was so well worked and acted though. Awesome.

  • Fuck this gave me chills when I watched it the first time. Brilliant!

  • It's interesting, when i watched this movie for the first time,i was disappointed because i wanted more.I thought kubrick was clever,if you notice when the scene fades, and the music comes on,you don't if its really the end,or its going to another scene. When kubrick's name popped up,and i went ''ah man,no!''If your only complaint after seeing a movie,is that? Its as close to perfection as can be.Ive never been more held in suspense in watching a film, when i watched this movie for the first time.

  • @TheGatorfan93

I felt the exact same thing. Although fear not, there is more! FMJ was based off the Gustav Hasford novel The Short-Timers. There is a continuation of this book called the Phantom Bloopers. Both stories can be read for free off of Gustav Hasford's website. Both are well worth the read!

  • @TheGatorfan93 Kubrick was truly a genius, wasn't he?

  • @Arrested101 Damn straight, simply the best as far as im concerned.

  • paint in black, such a brilliant ending music selection ever, stanley you're rock...

  • Amazing movie!..It's crazy how they trained for Nam

  • A MASTERPIECE OF STANLEY KUBRICK

  • I love films with good endings.

If the film is top and then the director even puts a brilliant ending on it it's such a great feeling after watching^^

  • @Bart1893 couldnt agree more

  • 13 ppl had their eyes gouged out and skull fucked

  • Just fcking love it: Adore Kubrick!

  • But I am alive, and I am not afraid.

  • I only wish this didn't have subtitles

  • I look inside myself and see my heart is black

I see my red door and it has been painted black

Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts

It's not easy facing up when your whole world is black

I see a red door and I want it painted black

No colors anymore I want them to turn black

I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes

I have to turn my head until my darkness goes

  • WHAT IS THIS MICKEY MOUSE S**T?!

  • Is that you John Wayne? Is this me?

  • @videogameguy24 We'll let the gooks play the indians!

  • wait, Who's the leader for you and me?

  • what is the title of the final song???

  • @Fanty94

The Rolling Stones - Paint it black

  • @grozde thanks ;)

  • @Andres0869 Agreed. It's stupid as fuck too.

  • THE rolling stones <3

  • what war is this?

  • @bugone13

    Vehitnam

  • @thefamilyadams you spelled it wrong

  • @thefamilyadams Vietnam no h in vietnam

  • @bugone13 vietnam

  • mickey mickey mouse mickey mouse then paint it black with the stones WHAT A KICKASS WAY TO END OFF A MOVIE

  • What actually happened when people got back from vietnam was they got spat on by normal people walking by. Screaming at them for calling them child killers and everything. They did what they had to do. But all everybody see's in them is what the media portrayed them to be. There are vietnam vets who are homeless are people tend to be scared of them because some do have a history of becuase mentally unstable. Also the part where the "bird is the word" song didnt fit, it was funny but it didnt fit

  • @MondoMiniman Exactly you have a 12 year old kid shoot at you with an AK and you dont shoot back. As far as im concerned if there old enough to try to kill people in a war there old enough to die in war.

  • @whatizthisidonteven Perfect Response Ive ever heard/read.

  • @whatizthisidonteven In a war situation, you find yourself doing all kinds of things you never thought you'd have the heart to do in order to survive and make it back to your loved ones in one piece.

Case in point: My brother is in Afghanistan right now. He's the type that would never hurt a fly, yet the first letter he sends home tells about how he feels having killed his first enemy. His exact words were "It made me think of when we used to shoot frogs with BB guns, and Mom would give us

  • this sob story about having taken a baby frog's parents away." Of course, we were only 5 and 8 years old at that time (I'm the elder brother), but the story had such an effect on us that we stopped doing it. I sent him a letter back basically saying "In war, different rules apply. It's either you or him, and you can bet that if I had that choice, I would definitely choose me."

  • @MondoMiniman every song selection and shot that is shown is there for a purpose. Kubrick puts images in all his movies that dont seem to fit but are in there for a very specific purpose. The song fit in the movie perfectly because it is expressing more than just background music for the film...

Watch all of Kubricks films and you will notice the use of the tracking shot and music to express very different ideas and express deeper meaning

  • This song: "paint it black" is epic espceially the Sitar playing throughout the song

  • I'm English, but God damn I have respect for American 'Nam vets

  • this is why i wanna be a film director and writer my inspirations Stanly, Sam Rami, Doug Walker, James Rolfe and my all time fav....Steven Spielberg

  • Hitler and his beloved dog Blondi comin' to getcha, dog-eating barbarians.

  • Vietnam eats dogs. Literally. In a world of shit.

  • @etbella3 Well actually, Dog meat ain't bad.

  • I uncle was a marine in vietnam. He didnt say much about and thats all you really can say

  • those guys who fought there are tough as nails i just cant imagine having to live with those memories and dreams and to see a homeless vet out there it kills me inside and what does congress do about it jacks*** just like always they deserve better

  • "I am in a world of shit, yes... But I am alive. And I'm not afraid."

  • 13 people fucked a person in the ass and forgot to give them a reach-around.

  • man i could listen to that mickey mouse song all day.

  • One of the Best movie about human and war.

  • perfect 'n kick all asses!

  • :32 WHAT IS THIS MICKEY MOUSE SHIT?!

  • @TheKOEIwarrior brother, they sang songs in english to keep other us troops from ambush each other.

  • @mjhogan823 I was just quoting Gunnery Sgt Hartman earlier in the movie.

  • who said that...who the fuck said that!!!

  • @laughsxgiggles

No one likes you. People fishing for thumbs ups on YOUTUBE are fucking pathetic.

You're also a racist, and therefore not going to make it in life.

  • @rolln2013 I love how what you said got you thumbs up. Hahaha, nice man.

  • @rolln2013 lol what did i say again?

  • m-i-c-k-e-y m-o-u-s-e mickey mouse, MICKEY MOUSE! mickey mouse, MICKEY MOUSE!

tune, paint it black by the rolling stones aint bad either

  • A great ending

Hardened Marrines singing a kids song in the dark of night

While the major city of Hue burns to the ground in the backround.

  • it's the best because it showed it how it was...the other movies like platoon and and apocalyspe now...kind of glossed over it with drugs and the individual's stories...this was about the whole squad with Joker as the main character....sorry haven't read the book yet....but will do.

  • @robertanthonyplant but you've gotta remember, alot of the soldiers took drugs in vietnam, it was their way of escaping from what was going on around them, it was a horrible war and should never have happened, but there are some fantastic portrayals of it and i think it should be preserved in history forever as a war just as significant as WWI and II, not to mention it lasted longer than both of them put together

  • Epic.

  • 13 people work at the anti-mouse corporation

  • sent me chills when paint it black came on

  • Joker were gonna have to put you up for the congressional medal of UGLY!

  • One of the best war movies ever it's a must see.

  • One of the best war movies ever.

  • @roastoo00ooveges i removed lots o lots o typos

  • sorry to anyone ive made angry with these comments.

  • i need to watch my grammar : ( type more slowly

  • and it is just doesnt make sense for it to sit and do nothing when the world is going to shit.

  • Kubrick was a genius. This is the most powerful ending of any war movie I've ever seen.

  • I wonder if there will be films like this about Iraq in twenty years. I guess making films about wars that America has lost is their way of dealing with it. Haha America, home of the loosers.

  • @roastoo00ooveges Right. We're losers. Which is why we rule the world.

  • @Halo4Lyf What world do you rule? The world of debt, hurt and curruption? America is going down hard. It is failing as Rome did. Soon you will be begging the Chinese for help. The Jews won't lend you anymore money, and you won't be able to afford bullets for your guns. The World speaks now of how little respect America has. Your pride has sunk you, for pride is a mortal sin and God has judged you and now delivers his rule upon you. Hahahahahahahaha you rule your demise.

  • @roastoo00ooveges The world that oxygen-thieves like you currently desecrate with your greasy and ironic presence.

Ah yes, the mighty Chinese... with their 700 million mostly illiterate peasants in grinding poverty and inability to feed their populace or fuel their economy without imports. They depend on us to keep their current economic system functioning--and when it fails, societal collapse will result.

Hard days ahead for everyone. We'll survive. Many others won't.

  • @Halo4Lyf 700 million may have been the populace with you were a lad, but now it's 1.3 billion. They are the worlds greatest trading partner. They constantly prove this through FTA's and good working process. They pay their bills and are not run by Jewish scumbags like America. They can call 100 million trained men to arms. And you're so stupid that you think they are illiterate? Most Americans cannot even point out their own country on a map! You will die.

  • @roastoo00ooveges I stand by the statement, I'm perfectly aware of the population of China. 700 million of that 1.3 billion are mostly illiterate rural peasants who live in grinding poverty, in homes with dirt floors and no power or running water, and who still farm by hand and animal power.

This is because the PRC focuses on modernization and expansion of cities, and mostly ignores the rural areas, where the majority of their population still lives.

We'll die? You first, Kiwi cocksucker.

  • @Halo4Lyf I guess you get your information from wiki or something. I have actually been to rural China and seen first hand their lifestlye. It's actually better than you may think. Running water et al. They take care of their people in more ways than the USA does it's people. Your just blinded by the ignorance your media encourages you to foster. America, home of cowards.

  • @roastoo00ooveges i totally agree, there are parts of rural china that boast some of the oldest and toughest people on earth. and lets not forget that america actually lost to the north vietnamese, which ironically were peasants mostly. but china have as good if not better military technology, a large highly motivated and well trained professional army of 1 million, and 3.5 million reserves.

  • @cozstuart I dunno when people are going to get it? The reason peasents often beat a better equiped, better trained army comes down to passion and blind commitment. This movie hinted at that. My arguement that America, (once a great nation) has won battles and lost wars proves this. America has also proven that war is good for economy, to a point. That point has passed. Now it's time for someone else to have a go. I just wish Americans would realise this and retreat while they still can.

  • @roastoo00ooveges two words fucking communist is all i have to say you illterate chinese cuban vietmanese whatever the fuck you are go take a shit in your moms hole and try to read a book

  • @megatjjo21 At 19 I'd expect you to at least have the brains to check my profile before commenting on my nationality. But, this is what I've come to expect from the "fire first, look later" American attitude. Calling me a commie is rich from you also, you are a part of the biggest democratic lie the world has ever known. Ah, and check your spelling and grammer sunshine, before you go shooting your mouth off. Now, do you have an arguement worth reading? No? Well then get back to your PS3.

  • @roastoo00ooveges It's "Shoot first, ask questions later"........retard

  • @Hold423 Clearly you have a stronger grasp English than most.

  • @roastoo00ooveges ok i admit you have a point that i shot my mouth off a little early but america isn't shoot first ask questions later for example we gave saddam several months to pull out of kuwait in 1991 and currently in iraq we have so many rules of engagement its nuts! again i apoligize for shooting my mouth off but still dont go and bang the american attitude weve been been hit many more times than you and new zealand is a largly overlooked country but we have th largest army in the world

  • @megatjjo21 We all know why America, (or should I say Israel) invaded Iraq. But does Saddam look as bad now we can all see how hard it is to control Iraq? It's a big mess that has cost America it's economy, respect and culture. Now even America's allies are looking at America and wondering if it can afford to carry on like it is. I am pissed with the USA for what it's done. For the record. New Zealand has sent more men to war on forign soil per capita than almost every other country. Ask around.

  • @megatjjo21 Furthermore, New Zealand has well equiped trained men at arms. I served in four countries during my time, none of these theaters were to defend my soil, or for gain to my nation other than international respect. For rour generations my family has been at war from Africa to Europe and the Pacific. We sit around the table and all wonder were America is going currently. ROE? Pah, dont get me started USMC ignores most of them. China out numbers the USA by around 500,000 fighting units.

  • @roastoo00ooveges i want disrespecting new zealand i study history and your military didnt fuck around in world war 2 in crete they were the last to leave the island and many stayed to fight as guerillas. i wasn't saying america was better than new zealand i was just bsaying weve been attacked alot more. as i said i know my history and i don't disrespect people i believe everyone is equal. unless they have commited crimes, for example 9/11 was unprovked attack against innocent people.

  • @megatjjo21 1/3 of Americans now believe 9/11 was a "Reichstag fire". That is, an internally led attack to gain the will of the people to justify a war in the Middle East. I'm not sure. But if it comes to pass that this is true, then there is a big problem. Either way, while there is war, there is room for other countries to rise up financially. Money buys power, and now it seems America is poor while the Chinese are rich. So who's winning? Everyone looses in a war over time.

  • Comment removed

  • @roastoo00ooveges China may be rich, but their people are way worse than you could ever imagine.

  • @datguy197 How would that be? I have traveled north to south through China. I've seen a little poverty there, but all things taken in to account, they aren't that bad off. The cities are rich and the country is poorer yes. But I met many happy people even though the had little. No one appeared to be staving! If you break the law and get caught then things are understandibly bad though.

  • @roastoo00ooveges Well, I've been to China too, and other than the people who are fortunate enough to have a house (which are small) a lot of people live in nothing much more than a small "structure" (wouldn't quite call it a house). Thats one of the problems with a very over-populated country. Not enough money to go around for everyone. Also, Communism makes it to where its like everything is everybodys.

  • Is that you John Wayne? Is this me?

  • @videogameguy24

Who in the fuck said that!?

Who is the goddamn communist twinkled toed cocksucker down there that just signed his own death warrant!?

    LOL

  • @videogameguy24 Who the fuck said that?!

  • @slimshady0297 whos the slimy tinkle toed mother fucking cocksucker over here who just signed his own deathwish

  • @videogameguy24 WHO SAID THAT? WHO FUCKING SAID THAT? WHO'SE THE TWINKLED TOED COMMIE COCKSUCKER WHO JUST SIGNED HIS OWN DEATH WARRANT?

  • Gives me chills every time
