I always wondered what the mechanism is for the pod to make a soft landing. It doesn't even look like to have one. In real life it would be like putting a human in a metal box and kick it out of an airplane resulting in instant death when it drops on the ground with 500 mph LOL

It slows the pod to a survivable impact speed, but even so some ODSTs still suffer minor injuries on landing, as well as the possibility of death. They sign up knowing they could easily die on impact on their first drop.

However, they mad a new version for this trailer, so unfortunately typing it into YouTube or wherever will give you the old version, as, as far as I'm aware, a studio recorded version was never made. You can only get it by editing out the background noise from the trailer. The song is in Welsh.

So many people dislike ODST compared to the other Halo games. Personally, it's my favorite second only to the original Combat Evolved. The storyline was great, the characters awesome, the combat was solid, and the setting was just beautifully done. I think ODST is a culmination of everything Bungie had learned from developing the campaigns of the past three games.

Saying Halo 3 has the best campaign, though, is like saying Return was the best Star Wars movie. Besides all that, the original Halo had the best storyline, campaign, and the most memorable LAN multiplayer ever. But this is an ODST trailer.
