dang, they really did deprive this truck of its manhood. It sounds NOTHING like this now. I really wish it still sounded this nice though. Glad you got it before they did some work on it.. kinda sounds like a different engine under it all together now.
I know its been a while, but do you by chance remember the general area you found this truck? I am very interested in filming an MSL and an old slant back 320 with a maxon body like this would be a great first MSL video for me. thanks!
TERRIFIC VID Bill!!! Really enjoyed seeing one of these, I don't get the idea many with flat hyd. tailgates like that were made, sure enjoyed seeing the manual trash once again :D :D 5 stars to you + a fav/feature!
Terriffic find Bill... who wouldn't enjoy some more good old fashioned manual collections when the world's full of automation these days? Seems like it's been ages since you posted those Rainbow Disposal videos... and it has been ages when I think about it. Are a lot of these county's with vintage trucks and manual collections close together, or do you travel a lot? Also been a while since I've seen loose, unbagged trash -- get taken to a MRF by any chance? Great job again!
So would this particular Maxon be one of a kind with that flat + hydraulic tailgate? I also wonder if I've seen one with an enclosed hopper... can only recall Scott's videos with the open hopper Maxons. I bet this truck is a very ancient one... must be from the late 80s to early 90s I'm guessing?? Does Cal Disp. run any other interesting trucks that you might be able to get on video? Keep up the great work and can't wait for more =]
I said last operational MSL. They have one more in the yard but it's a CCC with the same body, however that is just a parts truck for this truck. The minute this one dies beyond easy repair, it's done for...
well man, these are really great videos. I really appreaciate the time you took to produce this...and all the others! Great job....what a really great bunch of guys here on Youtube, filming, editing and just dedicated to the cause! Cheers man!
Maxon square body with a hydraulic FLAT tailgate... it's like old school meets new school! Awesome find. You should check out the City of Redlands, I'm pretty sure they might still have a bunch of old Dempster FLs. Their yard is right off the 10 freeway, at Tennessee Street and Redlands Blvd.

That must be such a nightmare. VIdeos like this make me realize how lucky I am to have a semi-automated MSL!

Nice find! Love the sound when it's driving. And I guess those people don't believe in trash bags.

Does anyone use trash bags out there?
