  • you people are so stupid

  • Chuck Norris builds endurance when he drinks lava

  • increase by 5%... then the example he gives is increasing from 8 to 10 miles in 1 week (25% for the math challenged)

  • How this guy needs to build endurance; ditch that TERRIBLE running style

  • Does this apply to competitive high school swimming?

  • I like trains

  • is it good to go from not running for 2 months straight from when i was in shape, to going back to every day and as much as possible instantly? cause thats what im doing right now

  • like if u can run a 6 min mile

  • whaaaaa... i should do one day super special?

  • whaaaaa... i should do one day super special?

  • actually the fastest mile is 3:43 by Hicham el Guerouj

  • @TootirTrootie no the fastest mile was 3:54

  • could you check my channel out and help with some running advise as a 9 year old that runs 5 km

  • run Forrest run

  • as a professional boxer I can jog 1 hour even though I rested & did nothing 1 week before, but when 1 month before the competition I jog 1 hr & 30 mins uphill & its very exhausting.

  • I'm 9 and I ran 5 miles in 10 minutes :p

  • @TootirTrootie um no you didnt...

  • @TootirTrootie Well you obviously dont because the world record is about 4minutes per mile.

  • Awesome backdrop. My kind of gym - trails and trail running. Nice post!

Stay healthy, and happy running, friends!

    .CS

  • It's funny how he talks about starting off at 8 miles and going up 2 miles per week when I can barely run 2 miles without stopping...he should know that the people watching this video obviously don't have great fitness levels, if I could run 8 miles allready why would I be watching this?! :p

  • so, basically, you just have to run alot

  • i need to run continuously...i have never been able to before...but i am going to run the same distance for months on end to get rid of my walking when running...the shortest distance i cant run continuously is 2km...

  • This is so true. I jumped from my usual 7 miles to 11 miles in a little over a week, and now I haven't been been able to run for an entire month. The tendon on my left foot is messed up.

So yeah, building up slowly is key for injury prevention.

  • i learned...........nothing

  • Runners are crazy!! Cycling is the way to go!

  • It's a lot more difficult to run a mile in under five minutes than to run a few miles. I can jog 4 on a good day, but can't do a mile in under 6.5 minutes yet.

  • How to build Endurance:

Step 1: Get off you fucking computer

    Step 2: Get some shoes

Step 3: Go outside and run

  • @AnnaBanana24135 I'm finding step 1 kinda hard

  • @AnnaBanana24135 You copied the comment from 'How to Build Stamina'.

  • @AnnaBanana24135 You are so right...!!

  • @070StraatJochie070 thats impossible but its not if u r Ussain Bolt

  • @izzatsuhaimi931 he doesn't need endurance, he sprints....

  • i wish i could run a fucking block.

  • I was lookin for endurance in bed...

  • Great info !

  • i love running what is happening inside me when i run is unbelievable

  • he would look awesome running with a mohawk

  • i have to run at least 1,86 miles in 12 minutes

    any tips on that??

  • @070StraatJochie070 you could walk and do that no problem

  • @azza..very well put.

  • I am confused he says you shouldn't goo up more than 5 percent a week... he then say one week you run 8 miles, the next you run 10 then 12 etc...

5 percent of 8 miles is 0.4 miles.... so you should increase from 8 to 8.4, then 8.9, then 9.5 etc

  • we are literally built to run. we are one of the best long distance runners on earth. we can run an animal till it collapses. then we have an animal just lying down on the ground in front of you. that gets more meat than using a bow... but no one cares now cause of stores... just saying. if you dont run your denying your heritage. anyway...

  • Isn't this by big sur? Looks familiar I've jogged on those trails before.

  • so i run a 22 minute 2 mile, i have 2 months to bring it down to 12-14 minutes. any tips on tht?

  • @pyro69man you better work on that now!

  • @TheSundayDelight yea, i have been since july. at first i couldn't even do 1 mile. but lately i haven't seen any progress

  • Used to run 4 miles back when i was in the military. But that was like 10 years ago. Ever since i been on my butt watching tv or in front of my computer. I'm not fat or chubby. But im completely out of shape. I can barely run half a mile. But i'll get back to the shape i was in before. Thanks for the vid.

  • It's for P. E

  • Running 1 mile a week will not do anything for you. Because if you decide to run 1 mile a week, your wasting your time. Cross country is a consistent sport you have to run at least a mile a day. Then move up to 2 or 3 miles but at your own pace. You have to keep at it.

  • @horseylassx1. I have to run a mile every Monday at school

  • @jermvader51 me too

  • I cant even run a mile

  • god, anything with 'livestrong' i love..

  • The advice for building it up slow is GOOD lol, I was running 12 miles a week then bumped it up to 24+ one week and got myself a nice little case of achilles tendonitis that i've been nursing now for about two weeks.

  • Hello, my name is Howie English I do not know where to start.

I need a trainer for an upcomming event 167 km to help raise money for kids with special needs. I reside in Vancouver Canada.

Curious, interested, willing to discuss... ?

    howie_english@shaw.ca

  • @henglishable i don't think you'll find help here...

  • @GreatBlueKnight Such numbers are a subjet to dimishing returns. Which means that the numbers dont really stack like that, what he is saying is that if you run for two weeks like this, then by the next week you might be able to run 5% longer then last week, he never said these numbers stacked on the amounts of weeks.

  • y u running on a dirt road

  • endurance is a mind state isn't it?

  • @MaK9123 In a way. but your body can only take so much before it overpowers your minds thoughts to keep going.

  • I like to build endurance when i run with a plastic bag around my head

  • @Lookin4mw2lobbys bahahahahaahah the best comment

  • @Lookin4mw2lobbys i dnt get it

  • About how much to bump it up, I heard something about a golden 10% rule. That you shouldn't increase your distance or speed with more than 10% per week. Obviously this should be taken as a guideline as 10 of 2 miles won't feel much like an increase at all, but you get the picture. I suppose it's either speed OR distance, but I don't remember where I read this, so I can't really confirm that theory :) Anyway, can anybody (and preferably Tim) confirm this as a good rule of thumb?

  • Wait Wait wait Ok did u jut see that at 1:46 next to his head :O

  • I will be running the 5k half entirely barefoot @ over 100+ degree heat.

I am already pushing further than this, and have done runs in 105 degree heat where the feet were really cooking up so to speak, but running that heat just made my feet stronger and more capable to run cooler days for extremely longer distances. Almost a 60% increase.

Push yourself hard as possible, or just entirely go barefoot. No shoes, no vibrams, just human flesh to the ground or asphalt!

  • This guy runs ultras?

His form looks like a weekend jogger

  • @hippoyell Looks can be deceiving.

  • @SJisMyHometown

    guess so

  • you can always get some weight on you so your faster little to small:)

  • @echosasuke I had an african type for me on a "black keyboard"

  • 5%?? WHAT A LAZY BUM. YOU PUSH YOURSELF UNTIL YOU ARE CLOSE TO DEATH! THATS HOW THE AFRICANS DO IT. THEY ARE ALREADY HALF DEAD AT THE START OF ALL MARATHONS AND WIN BECAUSE THEY ARE EMPTY BODIES RUNNING LIKE MACHINES. AND LIKE ALL MACHINES THEY DON'T FEEL ANY PAIN. SCUMBAGS

  • @maniac9565 how did you increase the endurance of your keyboard?

  • @maniac9565

    your caps lock is brocken.

  • @Mesjasz Your spelling is broken.

  • Ok so a

  • and run with it lol nice pun Timmy!

  • Here's what not to do... go from never running more than 10km in your life to getting marathon fit in 2 months. Get an achilles injury on your last LONG run (44km) 1 month b4 race day. Take 3 wks off and do some light jogging days b4 event. Run the marathon and finish with a stress fracture in the metatarsals. Don't run at all from July to December and do a 17km run to test fitness and end up with a biceps femoris tendon injury which has played up since. Endurance is easy. Injuries, not so much.

  • BWWWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAA @oOCarlsonOo "Disformed Brick" Hahahahahahahaaaaa! & @TWALITCH the UFO - HOLY SH*T!

  • Incredibly bad form :/

  • great tips.. he kinda looks like tiesto's american cousin :P

  • @hassanmaqsood lawl wasnt trying to figure who he looked like

  • And run with it! hehe was that a joke?! :D?

  • No offense, but his running style is ridiculous.

  • @slomo8888 MAN YOUR JEALOUS

  • So this is a guid, for finding a good guide?

  • After two weeks of running 5k - 10k each day, I improved my 800m time by 30 seconds.

  • theres a alien species aparently living on earth called rods they travel as fast as the one that went passed his head at 1:49 search em up on youtube :)

  • it's a bird...

  • thats right its ufo, i manage to printscreenshot that object flying fast...is that ufo....

  • this is a really easy work out.

  • Good tips. In my experience you also build endurance A LOT faster if you allow your muscles to FULLY heal between each run, be it one or two days or even more.

  • To gain endurance I don't run higher mileage, I run higher altitude. Running hills is the best way, in my opinion.

  • hey am 15 and i play rugby,i play on the wing so i got alot of speed :) but u could never ever have enough endurane or stamina but i only get to train when i go to practice which is only 3 times a week so is there any exercise i can do at home??

  • @darion507 umm no 1 cares how old you are haha

  • @bloodstorm200 ohhh yeahh..haha..prick..thanks for helping

  • @darion507 You're welcome ;)

  • @darion507 For rugby i would imagine interval training is pretty great. Two lightpoles sprint, two lightpoles easy or something like that (You can find better plans on the web). Maybe two times a week, so you get some rest in between, or on rugby training days.

  • @Elantry yeah thanks i do prints from 1 field goal to the other for 1 min. and rest for 30 secouds i do that for 1 hour and it helps alots during games thanks dude

  • @darion507 thanks i do sprints from 1 field goal to the other for 1 min. and rest for 30 secouds.i do for about 1 hour.i really helped thanks alot

  • u want fast loss do HIIT

  • This is true. You want to increase your distance every week and one day each week.

  • does distance running realy get you the most lean?

  • @11033066099

I'm no expert but distance running increases endurance, yes, but it also induces muscle wasting. Speedworks are better for "leaning out" without wasting muscles like if you want a body like ryan reynolds' you should be just doing 1-2 speedworks a week (a fartlek or a tempo run) and then easy paced runs of 2-3 miles 3-4 times a week.

On the contrary, just run and have fun. Don't mind the details unless you're an athlete or you compete :P

  • @vlysed hey thanks yo!! that realy helped out!, alota people's judgement on EXACTLY what to do has been very hazey. But the only thing i dont know about is what a "Tempo" run is?

  • @11033066099 Yes it burns more calories than any other exercise.

  • @lollerskates1992 REALY!?? more than Sprinting??

  • @11033066099 Doing sprints will wear most people out a lot more quickly, so if you're doing purely sprints in your running workout it will be a relatively short workout. On the other hand, if you're just doing endurance running at a steady pace, you'll be able to run a lot longer than you could if you were doing sprints, hence burning more calories. Also, your body will be sweating for a longer duration of time with endurance running because you'll be out in the sun longer, burning more calories

  • @lollerskates1992 Incorrect. Interval training is actually proven to be a more intense workout, and is more effective at burning fat. 20-60 or minutes of correct interval training= short distance (100m-400m) sprints + short rest periods combined with plyometrics at high intensity will burn more calories than 20-60 minutes of pure jogging.

  • @lollerskates1992 That's incorrect it's been proven that sprinting(more specifically HIIT) will burn more more fat and keep more muscle than longer distance running. Longer distance running challenges your lungs and your mental state, more than your body. Where sprinting is just physically hard to do, therefore activating fast twitch muscle fibers allowing for faster fat burn. Not saying either of them are better than the other, just saying what you said is completely wrong.

  • @AgentSpiral How do I train fast-twich muscles?

  • @r2d23678 wannabe soldier muthafucker, I bet you can't even pass your ASVAB!!! ahaha.. now go smoke your cigarettes and get drunk you fat slobby bastard.

  • @area51er6 fail, I'm in the Army now, now go away faggot.

  • palos verdes nice

  • Man, bumping up for me is like, a minute more.

  • @CPU119 no. endurance is primarily used for pacing over distance. for some this could be just getting through their first 5K. but if you want to place (get a medal) you want to train for endurance in order to hold, say an 8 minute mile pace for the race.

  • i want build enough endurence to be fit enough but not marathon runner fit ... how would i do that ?

  • @KEOO8 have you tried the couch to 5K workout? it's pretty darn good.

  • @SParkApCider thanks il try it

  • 5%.. 10-15% increase is key.

  • Im 17 and wanted to challange myself... I didnt train for 3 week because of a foot injury, but then one morning i decided to run a Marathon before brekfast! I felt very rusty and slowmo but i put on my shoes and started to run. 3h 30min i was back home... I had just finished a marathon or more (45km) without eating or drinking anything during that day. The real great thing about it is that ive never run past 15km before, so this was a huge step for me. Is this dangerous, cuz my legs r in pain?

  • @ScaredOfMars no you didn't

  • @yluna217 ....yes

  • I'm supposed to run a half marathon in late March, but I've been having a hip pain.

I decided to rest for a week or two, but I'm cutting too close to the race date and won't have enough time to build mileage and speed. I have been running long distances before but I'm slightly rusty now. Should I actually run this race?

  • lol all i learned hello my name is tim borland

  • lol before this video I saw an advert for Timberland and i only just realised this guys name is Tim-Borlan

  • Looks like nice weather indeed. Nice vid.

  • It's looks to hot there to run, cloudy days are better

  • @area51er6 pussy

  • @area51er6 Hehe! Believe me, running in the heat makes the process faster; I'm living proof!

  • Great video nothing like hearing the best tell you how to make your game better!

  • STUPID ADVERTISEMENTS

  • get it? run with it? XD

  • He is not really saying much i will try one long run a week i guess.

  • I gotta be honest id much prefer to do it 5-7 days a week than going to the max on 1 day only. I find doing cardio rope/running I am building endurance at a slow but steady and noticeable pace.

  • @Twisted86 i think he is saying, 1 day you have a long run and the rest of the day you have short runs, not run only once a week, I dunno thats how i see most people build their training schedule for endurance

  • Do people actually have time to run 14 miles a day?

  • @jeenyus720 i run 4miles to and from school so its 8 miles, 2 miles at pe thats 10, thats me though idk bout people that arnet in school

  • @jeenyus720 i do...

  • @jeenyus720 wake up earlier or stay up later. your choice.

  • or try barefoot running...

  • @UBCBarefoot or not, we werent raised barefoot and cant change the way our body adapts to wearing shoes over our whole lives. find me one elite runner in the U.S. or other well developed country's that trains barefoot and ill think about it. dont believe everything you read

  • @taylort36 how about Anton Krupicka? Leadville 100, Western States 100, that good enough for you? so you don't think you can train your feet the same way you do to all your other muscles when you run? I've made the transition and am not having any injury problems, maybe you shouldn't believe everything big shoe companies tell you about what to wear.

  • @UBCBarefoot Yes i believe you can train your feet, as a collegiate runner, we do our cool downs in bare feet. But running 80-90 miles per week on bare feet after rarely doing it for 20 years of your life is an injury waiting to happen. how many miles do you run per week?

  • @taylort36 Absolutely not, it is a slowww process. You would get stress fractures almost instantly if you started that fast. Modern day running shoes tend to alter your running form, unless you know how to run midfoot it is very difficult to do with the large heel pads that they come equipped with. Running barefoot you are naturally forced to run midfoot, thats all I meant by it. The guy in the video is heel striking hard! if you have ever felt the difference you know this is not efficient!

  • @taylort36 , Most all of the elite marathoners from Kenya, Ethiopia and other parts of the world that produce champion distance runners actually do allot of their training barefoot. The practice of wearing bulky running shoes is (for elite runners) is to condition their body to run with more weight on the feet. This is why elite runners consider the running shoes that you and most other people wear "trainers" During a marathon, elite runners run in "racing flats"

  • @minuteman2006 yes but as i said, we werent raised barefoot. they were rasied barefoot and therefore are already accustomed and adapted to not using shoes. And i understand the concept of trainers and racing flats, Im a collegiate runner. We do some barefoot training as well on our cool downs after workouts, but at 80-90 miles per week our bare feet would be destroyed without shoes.

  • Bruce Lee ran 16 Km every day.

  • @Maxaker67 That's irrelevant, not to mention when you run every day prettymuch all year 6 miles isn't long.

  • @123helenkeller wait, you say running 16 Km everyday is nothing special? Then whats is it? Well I dont was trying to say it like only Bruce could do that nono dont get me wrong, anybody could do that, but its still amazing.

  • where is this video shot? somewhere in new mexico maybe? it looks really nice

  • @Vamperlis it's california, don't you see the Ocean?

  • Here's what worked for me. When I first started jogging I just jogged for 3 minutes. Every day I will add 1 minute to my jog. Now I can jog up to an hour :)

  • @maindeeboyz Just keep working on it,there is no competition and your running at your own pace.Best thing you can do is if you do take walking breaks during your run,try to cut them out and run at a slower paced jog.Works for me.

  • @maindeeboyz that's good! i weigh 8.5 stone and i'm about 5 ft 4, it takes me about 11mins to do 1.5 miles. i'm currently training for army selection :P

  • @CoffeeBeatsTea you want to get it around 10 mins mate and try interval training its wicked or if you play football keep at it because thats another form of interval training

  • JUSTT RUNNN

  • :) make picture big , go frame to frame , stop around 1;49 , there is a silver object against the blue sky . Close circuit tv for our landlords.

  • wtf is that a UFO at 1:50? lol

  • wtf was at 1:50???

  • @texas0075 An insect?

  • I like the ufo behind his head at 1;50 can he run that fast ?

  • @TWALITCH that was cool!!!!

  • @TWALITCH nothing behind his head

  • @TheMichaelcookie theres something that moved down from left to right really quick at about 1:48 just look carefully at his head

  • @TWALITCH wow freaky shit, good spotting

  • i need to run a mile in under 9 minutes to get 60 bucks cuz they think i cant cuz im kinda chubby, but i think i can do it cuz last year i ran a 10 30 and i was straight up fat so i should do it and then, get me some new shoes, baybay!!

  • Bro when you said 14 miles, I was like "Oh hell no" lol
