  • I was very happy when hill won the WDC from schumi, and still am xD . Best regards from Portugal

  • muito bom piloto um grande idolo e muito melhor queo vettel

  • Proud to be named after him :)

  • In honesty, Damon gives the people that haven't been an early start to Motorsport hope that they can be successful as he started racing cars at 23.

    Damon Hill!

  • @CptBird He got some pretty fast gene...

  • A great driver and childhood hero...

  • did more in that jordan in 98 than schumacher will ever do in a merc

  • brilliant! the true 1994 champion in my opinion

  • The guy was just different. He overcame (before all else, a famous pop), the most prominent team-mates ever as in Mr Prost & Senna... overcame it all. I dunno, just different, supplied us with awesome drives with Arrows & Jordan too. What a guy. And yes, 96 will stick with me for a long time but hot-dam, he made hard work of it...

  • I <3 Damon Hill

  • Damon nearly raced for McLaren in the 1998 season, he was offered a contract that stated he only got paid when he won races, so he didnt take it.

Ironically enough, he probably would have won a few races that season if he had taken it up lol

  • @DarudeF1 Thats very interesting, I know when he left Williams he had an offer from Ferrari but didn't want to be 2nd fiddle to Shuie. I have to say thats a very odd contract, payment when races are won?! Since he was a Champion you'd think they'd come up with better than that! However would've been nice seeing him partnering Mika... but then where would David have gone?

  • @Suprahampton have to say there, I rate David along with Andrea De Cesaris alike (serious, who cared where David went - waste of a race seat to be honest) but yes, a few teams gave DH an option (race win basis)... why didn't he take it?!?!

  • @theholygoofable Well if he'd gone to Mclaren... he would've been with Mika. I think he wanted to go where his developmental skills could be used... EJ wanted him for 1997 but had 2 drivers under contract... perhaps DH only went to Arrows as a gap year until he could get into Jordan?

  • Legend!!!

  • was that princess Diana at the podium greeting the champs? awesum!

  • @heavyaby003 British gp Silverstone 1994, Damon won... Princess Diana was asked if she'd present the winners trophy

  • What is the name of his wife :) ?

  • @4JUGE4 Georgie Hill

  • @4JUGE4

    Georgie

  • THE 7 WORLD CHAMPION THAT MICHAEL SHUMACHER DID....

I THINK DEMON HILL DESERVED IT MORETHAN SHUMACHER

  • in Arrows he was incredible...

    its like win with minardi...

    and he got...

  • Brilliant Champion, it was a pleasure to watch him.

  • great driver

  • Awesome song, great vid, superb driver... WIN

  • One of the legends (Y) Respect !!!!!!

  • Re blasos1983 - Damon started in F1 with Brabham (akin to a pedal cart) and was Williams' test driver until Senna's death. He was twice cheated out of the championship by Schumacher and, after his championship, produced stunning drives in uncompetitive cars (Arrows & Jordan). Mr blasos1983, you obviously have a pidgeon's knowledge of F1 and I truly pity you for your stupidity and bile.

  • @PaulCastle001 He was Senna's team mate when he died, he was also the team mate of Alain Prost all season the year before when Alain won the championship, he got the drive when Mansell was booted out after winning the 1992 world championship.

Mansell won the indy cart series in 1993 while Damon Hill was also booted out of the Williams team in the year he won his championship.

  • @lionsse16 Mansell wasn't booted out. He refused to drive with Prost. Also, Mansell was lied to by WIlliams. Mansell, after his history with prost at Ferrari, was very clear that he didn't want Prost as a team mate. Williams agreed. Midway through the 92 season it emerged that Williams had been holding negotiations &and were ready to sign Prost. Mansell walked away from F1 after winning the world title and became the only driver in history to hold the Indycar and F1 titles simultaniously

  • az egyik legkiválóbb pilóta volt. egyszerűen imádtam! :)

  • not a bad driver, far from being one of the best though

  • Frank Williams hasn`t had as good a driver as Hill since he let him go. Had he kept him on he`d have almost certainly been in WC contention with the sponsors eating out of his hands.

  • @kevinabalo88 That's a load of BS, Villeneuve almost beat him in his debut season in 1996 but for mechanical gremlins. Hill was the Jenson Button of the 90s, average driver best car by far.

  • @blasos1983 Too many variables in your answer, Villneuve, almost.

The bottom line is Williams went off the radar after Hill left and have not been back since.

You might not rate Hill but Christ he`s 10 times better than Button!

  • @kevinabalo88 Hill left then Villeneuve won the year after THEN williams went off the radar!

  • @kevinabalo88 That's actually a pretty good point. I hadn't thought of that before but Hill was the last in the line of great drivers that Williams used. Mansell to Prost - Senna -Hill. Villeneuve did a good job I guess but everybody since then was a dissapointment.

  • Too bad Damon Hill didn't win the Hungaroring race in 1997 with the Arrows-Yamaha. That would have made him the guy who did the impossible.

Such a shame Damon Hill only got to F1 in 1992, when he was already 32. Had he dubuted in his 20's he may have had twice the wins.

People sometimes forget Hill was born in the same year as Senna. Senna started in F1 back in 1984.

  • It's interesting to note that Damon Hill currently has a better win to races contested ratio than Alonso.

Hill won 22 races in 115GP's

Alonso won 22 races in 142GP's

Bear in mind Hill was in his mid 30's when he won his races, AND fought Schumacher in his prime, had Prost as a team mate. Beat Villeneuve another champion, Ralf Schumacher and Coulthard when they were his team mates.

Hill's wins to races contested ratio is 19,1%. Alonso's is 15,5%.

Damon Hill is one underrated champion!

  • @AlexDeLarge90 You ignore the fact that Alonso wasn't fed from a silver spoon like Mr Hill was at Williams. Alonso started at the bottom (Minardi), then transformed Renault from an average team the the best team in F1. You also neglect the fact that Alomso is 2 time world champion and is the youngest double world champion. You clearly lack F1 knowledge, I suggest you look up 'Formula One' in the dictionary, it's right next to 'fuck you'.

  • @blasos1983 What silver spoon was Damon fed with exactly? He was test driver developing the FW14B that won Mansell's championship, promoted to race seat when Mansell left & became team leader when Senna died... most other drivers worked their way up from lower Formula developing skills from a young age. Damon DID driver lower Formula but was still quite old when he did it

  • @blasos1983 A very distorted version of the facts. Hill had to deal with a very different kind of pressure. After Senna's death he was suddenly forced to lead the team in oly his second full season. To come so close to winning the title (Let's not forgot Schumacher & Benetton cheated him out of it) was a huge achievment. It is unfair to dismiss somebody's achievments based on where their career started. By that measure we should also dismiss Ryan Giggs' football career shouldn't we?

  • @AlexDeLarge90 I agree with that. I think the reason why I was never a massive fan at the time was that I always felt he was a little bit timid. However, that race that changed my mind was his 2nd place finish in the arrows at Hungary. It was, without a doubt, one of the gutsiest drives ever seen in an F1 car. He was under rated, definatly.

  • @AlexDeLarge90 But at that time Williams was THE car on the field

  • Cool tribute to my favourite driver, Damon Hill. Now could you do a tribute to Nigel Mansell please, he's one of my other two favourites, - the next being Lewis Hamilton.

    My three true sporting heros.

  • respect...

but i particularly think he wasn't that good. great car, OK driver.

god sake, never was or will be the greatest... it's just pathetic stating this...

he was just an unlucky driver... he had to compete against a guy that cheated - and tried to - a lot of times... ppl may say he was a bad driver, but i don't think so. my opinion is he had to drive under unfair conditions.

  • Nice bit of arse at the end...

  • Beautiful bits of arse at the end, especially the one with the tattoo on. :-)

  • Respect from Scotland.

Damon is a great F1 driver.

  • nope Schumi is a legend

  • @hegyimutymuty

He is. But he tainted his own reputation with his antics in 1994 and 1997. Also, his 5 years of dominence came during a time where the car was head and shoulders above the rest, There was no driver that could match Schumacher's ability and Ferrai's use of team orders was infamous. Schumi was a great driver but there will always be questions marks over certain elements of his sportsmanship

  • Ahhh use the fleetwood mac Chain song for damon

  • Respect from Holland. Damon is an legend. Great driver.

  • Respect from Brazil

    Great Driver

The last one true English driver on F-1

  • Right on bro!

  • Still can't understand why Williams didn't resign Damon. He was good in 94 and 95and became WC 96. I think he was way better then Frentzen who replaced him.

  • although a massive damon fan for a long time, the true fact is damon could of gone to a better team then arrows, but it all came down to money.....sad fact, but he signed his own fate there, he went where the money was for world champion

  • Frank Williams got a brainfade and believed that Frentzen who had beaten Schumacher in karting had the skills and speed to beat Schumacher in F1.

We all know that means nothing. Jan Magnussed dominated in F3 and won 11 out of 15 races, but when he came to F1 he only ever scored a single point.

If Hill had remained in Williams in 1997 I bet he would have won over Villeneuve again.

  • So good to see this, Hungary 97 was so frustrating, it would have been one of the most amazing wins ever. Hill was so underated, i know he was not a Senna or Prost, but damn close in qualyfiying and in some races he was untouchable, and it was not just the car. I did not like him at first but as he progressed it became clear he was a real talent, not just a name, I loved Suzuka 94, probably one of my all time fav GPs.

  • @kisscoverdoctorlove bella sintesi

  • His wife is very beautiful , what's the song used ?

  • yo momma

  • damon hill greatest ever.

    respect from italy!

  • @brucostaff LMFAO good joke

  • @brucostaff Now there is one wise Italian!! :-)

  • @brucostaff A very good driver? yes. The greatest ever? No. Never in the same league as Senna, Prost and Schumacher.

  • Hill is legend because he grew into the role of the championship competitor ("gladiator") after Senna had died. This was "zero hour"! After the accident in Imola Schumacher got from challenger to favorite and Hill from nobody to challenger! And he finally did well (of course with some help of the FIA 1994).

  • DAMON RULES, MICHAEL SUCKS!!!!!!!

  • The combination Hill/Williams-Renault was very competitive. As Senna died I thought the competition was over.

Thx Damon, you made a good job.

    Danke für die spannenden Rennen.

  • Ace vid, Damon is a legend. Would've been pretty close to the championship in 93 if his car hadn't failed in Spain, Britain and Germany. 96 was my favourite year of F1; great to see a good guy win!

  • Yeah without a broken engine and a puncture he should hav the same number of victory as Prost and Senna

  • If he was leading all those three races he would actually have won the title that year. He would have finished with 99 points, Prost with 87

  • Great Damon! Thanks to give me the greatest emotions of my infancy! From Italy.

  • Graham Hill @ 2:51

  • i dont care what anyone says, since his time we havent seen anyone since who seems to always be in complete control and so smooth. rarely did he swap ends

  • Thanks for this comment. I started watching F1 as a boy in 1995 when it used to always be Schumacher vs Hill. Very exciting times with lots of happiness and heartbreak. I'm a huge Hill fan as I'm English

  • Same here mate, started secondary school in 95 and always remember watching it on a Sunday, Hill was my hero and I hated Schu at the time!!

  • Damon Hill war der einzige Rennfahrer, der Schumacher das Leben schwer machte und ihm so manches Rennen so richtig versaute. Dafür liebe ich ihn noch heute!

    Miss you much, Damon!

  • Nice vid, thanks for putting this up.

Damon will always remain my childhood hero. He could have won more than 1 world championship but still... He remains one of the best, definitely my #1.

  • Hill was a phenomanal driver, a true gentleman, real sports star (unlike that mr Schumi) and the hero for so many of us, lets just hope he can save the british GP......and then F1

  • Short but good, pretty good Picture Quality.

  • My idol.

  • heart and soul, miss you damon

  • Aaa memories... I remember Suzuka '96, Almost winning in the Arrows in '97 and that 1-2 for Jordan in Spa... Damon Hill was my childhood hero :P

  • Damon Hill is a legend, i remember i met him once at Snetterton, he was watching his son race.

  • D.Hill was one of the best F1 drivers ever.

He had a great fighting spirit!!

  • i agree look what he did with that shit arrows at the hungaroring, and how he got jordans first win, its a shame in his last 3 seasons he didnt get drives with like mclaren or ferrari, or even if williams had have kept him on in 1997

  • are you serious?

  • ofcourse i am serious!!!

  • hill didnt have all his team mates helping him like cheating schumacher had

  • bullshit... coulthard gave way to hill for two years at williams and then hill was frightenned off by nearly being beaten by a rookie where he went to arrows and then jordan where team orders came into play again in belgium...

  • @FormulaOneFan4Eva you are right mate but michael is known by me as scum-maker

  • @FormulaOneFan4Eva you are right but scum-maker was a lot worse

  • @246DEK74 no just an unbeatable car that a trained chimp youd have won in much like villeneuve

  • One of the best development driver there has ever been in F1 so consistent.....

  • Agree, and I hate people slating him, Hill is a very underrated driver and a perfect gentleman.

  • just like his father, somethin sadly missed in F1 today

  • Yep, It was all happening in the last decade, not far ago and it seems like ages....I like it when you tell me how YOU handle that middle finger dex.....

  • Well I have found my middle finger to be a useful tool and my mouth also gets me far. The two combined, on the right occasion have been a winning combination xxx

  • This will be interesting to see when you ship that dvd...

  • A really gentleman and fast driver in qualification.

  • What is a gentleman? Damon Hill. The last gentleman in F1.

  • Damon hill is the man!!The most deserving world champ ever, in my opinion.

  • Damon Hill, a very underrated driver. Very quick and a totally capable and dedicated test driver also, a true gentleman, was great to witness his racing.

  • Great video, nice to see shouders again thx

  • Damon Hill na minha opinião é o melhor piloto britanico

  • Oh...what a memories...

  • goooood tribute *****

  • 2:25 passing schumacher with a arrows... :)

Should have been champ in 94 and 95 if he had been ran off the track

  • He proved more in this 1997 Hungarian GP than in all his Williams Career

  • Ture

  • @samyom73 Agreed, I was never a big hilol fan until that race. It was a monstrous drive and I was gutted that his gearbox gave up on him to deny him the win.

  • music is terrible

  • my name is damon hill =)

    for real.

  • pity you are not HIM though!!!

  • 2:25 passing schumacher with a arrows...lol!

  • When did he met Lady Di?

  • 1994 British Grand Prix

  • what's songs name?

  • 5 stars and favorite video

  • Great driver.

    Greetings from a brazilian fan.

Holding that flag reminds me about Senna.

  • a credit to uk and a real gent.won it he hard way with no help from williams.won in japan in style,a great champ.

  • not a natural by any means, but seriously underrated.

I had as much respect for this guy as I did for mansell.

  • The guy's a legend! Interesting article in this month's F1 Racing - Frank Williams finally admits he fkd up letting Damon go at the end of 1996. Think how different F1 might have been if he'd stayed at Williams. Adrian Newey wouldn't have bailed to McLaren, Hakkinen would probably have had won no WCs and the Hill/Villeneuve combo would have probably cleaned up 1996 through 1999. Admittedly Jacques might have then still gone to BAR, but Damon could have clinched another WC at least!

  • Oh. Its STIG from Top Gear :D

  • Nope thats Ben Collins!

  • so good he got wins for shit teams. arrows must have been beating their monkey back in 97when they signed the world champ. not my fave english driver, but hey who can beat mansell?

  • damon..was.. still is..and always will be... sex on legs

  • Oh yes and how!!!!

  • did you mean the comment on damon or were you taking the piss??

  • the comment on Damon, definately not taking the piss.

  • cant remember what i wrote!!, but thanks for replying, proberly something about him being sex on legs x x

  • Go Damon !!

  • My all-time F1 HERO!!! I admit he wasn't the most naturally talented driver, but he was brilliant... 22 race wins is a lot... would've been more if Frank Williams hadn't thought Frentzen was a better bet.. how wrong was he!?! Hungary 97 and Spa the year after showed how good Damon was!!! His only mistake was when he lost his cool a few times in 95... but wouldn't you if you had to try and beat Schumi every week!?! Great man!!!

  • Exactly my feelings, he is the prime example that hard work is rewarded, even if youre not the most talented. Great sportsmanship and dedication. Moral WDC of 94.

  • Never the greatest grand prix driver but a true gent and well worthy of his title in 96.

  • Nice asses in the end!

  • What's the tune for this?

  • What's the tune for this?

  • Brilliant vid of one of my childhood heroes. He maybe wasn't as naturally brilliant as Schumi, Senna or Alonso but he's still one of the 20 best drivers ever. What's the tune for this?

  • Gob - Give up the Grudge

  • But at least he put up more than a fight with Arrows & Jordan. Hungary 97 proved how good he really was.

  • Great vid! Fantastic!

Of all the F1 drivers, past & present, without doubt, Damon was, and still is my fav. Yeah, others have won alot more races/poles/championships, but Damon (for me) just had a certain edge, a certain presence that others dont. Hard to explain, but I'm sure you know how I mean LOL If only Williams kept him for 97, he would have taking that title, and maybe for 98 & 99, Mclaren took him up. He was just under underrated. Shame. Damon Hill forever!

  • Great Tribute.

Damon Hill rules, he won the title in 1996. The first full year I watched F1. Remember Hungary 1997 and Spa 1998, excellent drives.

  • he´s still a good one

  • Brilliant vid well done - DH forever!

  • How can any world champion suck?

  • Perfectly true. Let's also not forget he won his final GP in the wet of Belgium in a car set up for dry conditions

  • Whats the song?Rob

  • Gob - Give Up The Grudge

  • Thanks dude!Rob

  • Legend..

  • I like it. well done
