Roflmao...great vid...the docs don't know the answer, so its all in your head. Of course this guy is not being serious, he is taking the mick out of the damn stupid UK doctors!
Kazoom that was real funny....keep em coming! Have you found a real answer to the movement disorder you have? I see you other vid re stiff man syndrome but none the wiser.... Sorry just read the above...
I was referred to pain management about 2 years ago now after having dreadful headaches following lots of brain ops.
I knew the pains weren't normal, yet pain management seemed to be the 'answer' as of course, talking about your problems to a stranger gets rid of this pain...
It never bloody helped, as it was never made up in my head, was literally days before i was back in hospital under the knife!
It is, unfortunately, very common here in Denmark that patients just get the message "it's all in your head." Even thought they suffer from ME, fibromyalgia, chronic whiplash and other physical diseases. But they are all considered "mental cases" burdens to society because of all the money they cost. And the doctors who do this invented a new diagnose for these "difficult patients" saying the above mentioned diseases are all the same. A functional disorder or bodily distress disorder or syndrome
Haha! :) Doctors really are idiots!! I have seizures and they have been misdiagnosed as psychogenic seizures and we now have proof that they are physiological which is a great relief! I am sorry about all your health problems right now and will keep you in my prayers. Also, if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here.
Great satire, its so goddam frustrating the patronising establishment using anachronistic dismissive crackpot theories from god knows how long ago. ive been diagnosed with conversion disorder but i know the morons are wrong and that the science hasnt been advanced enough (probably because of the theories).i want to a neurologist and she was a fucking bitch who didnt even give me the time of day to say one word all she said contemptously was 'theres nothing wrong goodbye' fucking pontificating doc
@OLiViAshhh I am making fun of so called doctors who are quick to ascribe psychiartic causes to neurological symptoms. I am on the recieving end of such doctors.
I can't understand how I watched this video thinking wow, He is so smart putting his real feelings right out there for God and the universe even though I knew he was suffering from a neuro condition, Which I had plan to look @ his Channel to find out what, and How brave his insight discussion with his Dr Re Fish and his leg condition related, Was a big, just that simple relation. This is new to me & hope to learn.
I can totally relate :( . I got this diagnosis too after many years of going to the doctors. I felt exactly like your title "so It IS All in my head!". But in a frustrated way of course; it meant who knows how it will be treated or how effectively. I want to post a video about this because I wasn't yet an 'adult' when I got my diagnosis so it was a very difficult process.
Thank you for sharing your experience ! I greatly appreciate it.
I haven't laughed so much in a long time, bless u!! Good for u!! Am now off to interrogate my inner child in case the death of my guines pig when I was 4 is the cause of all my health problems lol.
Paul I was so worried you were on some drugs and that the psych doc. convinced you and that you'd cracked! I understand the humour after reading the comments. I agree about getting an MRI done. You may even have M.S. if you're losing your balance? I'm sure you've checked out all the avenues and done your research like what the rest of us are doing. I had a doctor tell me sometimes people don't know what they have until an autopsy is done. So I asked for that test right away.Ha! Stupid doctors!
now that was seriously disturbing, i thought for a moment that you'd fallen victim to the psych doctors i had to read the comments to make sure you hadnt.
Wow thanks for that enlightenment Paul, I was beginning to think that not only the Neuros are 'headcases' but everyone else is. I can laugh more now. I have been diagnosed as havng a 'psych' problem, but little didt the psych doc know, I was covertl recording our conversation. (many people think this is illegal to do, but it is not. The data protection act 1998 secion 36 does not apply to individuals) I have him actually lying in his Report. Healthcare com' are investigating this now. Mike
Paul, both my wife and I are debating whether you are serious about your diagnosis that a fish dying when you were 6 years old is the cause of your conversion disorder. I think you are serious. My wife thinks you are joking. The reason I think that you are serious is that I have a movement disorder and am trying to get a diagnosis.
Hi mike, your wife is right. I am being very sarcastic. I find the whole Freudian concept of conversion disorder to be a load of twaddle, with little or no scientific evidence to back it. So many conditions once labeled conversion disorder are now recognised as real neurological conditions. I have now got a clinical diagnosis of Lyme disease and I am waiting for results of some blood tests. The last doctor I saw couldn't believe that the neurologist said I have no neurological symptoms!
Hi Paul, you did a brilliant job in convincing me that you had fallen 'victim' to the 'psych' docs. The reason you convinced me is because I would say the very same sarcastic comments about the 'psych' doc's. I usually fool my wife with wit like yours. Congratulations on having one over on me. (I'm currently fighting a psych diagnosis at the moment) I am also being treated in London, but I'm from Liverpool.
U made me smile today;) Sometimes you just have to laugh at the situation to stay sane. I think there should be a song made called, "It's all in your head."
Ha ha Paul, I'm so glad you've sorted yourself & the rest us all out. There I was thinking I'd had a severe neurological illness, myalgic encephalomyelitis, for the past 20 years & all the time it was because I didn't put enough air holes in my jar of caterpillars when I was 5 & they all died. Well, no more suppressed grief for me!
Will you be setting up as a therapist, because you make so much more sense than the psychiatrists with their aberrant somatisation belief.
Good idea! perhaps i'll call it eustace therapy after my poor long lost goldfish. I could charge say £100 an hour and £1000 to train my clients in how to perform Eustace therapy! Perhaps Prof Findlay might even conduct clinical trials!! Perhaps ME could be profitable ater all!
Paul - Do not consider the psychiatric evaluation you recieved to be the only correct perspective. There are elemntary procedures which can be used to truely determine if your movements are voluntary or involuntary. A Psychiatric evaluation will only attempt to determine if a chemical imbalence or other physical variable is causing nurological disorder.
I don't know much about your case Paul, but I get the impression you think your symptoms have a neurological nature? Just out of curiousity, an elementary procedure, such as fMRI (functional magnetic resonance imaging), has that been an available option to you at any stage? I mean that could detect abnormal behaviour somewhere right?
Hi Greg. The problem is they didn't consider my symptoms to be neurological. They said that my movement disorder and gait didn't fit any known disease pattern, therefore my illness must be psycho-genic. I am still not sure that I have ME as my symptoms seem so different from others whose accounts I have read. I rarely have any pain(except headaches), or flu-like symptoms(although I think that I did when it began) and do not lack energy.
Paul - what is happening is that ME is being described as fatigue and treated psychiatrically. if you have neurological symptoms then you do not have ME. So then people with ME, who do not fit their fatigue criteria, are being slotted into conversion disorder, so everyone, according to them has a mental illness, one way or the other. They win both ways and have made neurological ME disappear !
It might be an idea to request that they send you your medical records cos' if they're being that nasty to your face- who knows what kind of rubbish they'd be putting in your reports and if ever you need a hospital, their idiotic remarks would make it less likely that you'd get proper treatment (also it'll help if you get a chance to sue in future).
I'm so sorry that all this has happened. I know how frustrating it must be (it took 2 whole years to get my diagnosis). It's great that you're keeping a sense of humor - I have to or else I'll go crazy! Good luck! ~Lauren
let it be a lesson to all mothers who would flush their children's dead goldfish down the toilet. You could be creating terrible psychological trauma in your child, that may appear in later life.
the problem is that rejection of a diagnosis is seen as further proof that you have it. I would ask on what "positive" criteria they have made the diagnosis and ask for this in writing.
It really is a 'no win' diagnosis. If you deny it they say it must be true, if you agree with them when you know it isn't true, you are subjected to inappropriate therapy. Even being involved in support groups or doing research online about your illness is enough to confirm their diagnosis! It seems to me that psychiatry is based on the concept of not believing the patient - unless it confirms you diagnosis of course!
@kaazoom very well said, you just summed up all my frustrations with my own situation and the medical dickheads i deal with, knowing how they take for granted the assumption to dismiss you or circumvent further investigation because conversion disorder is a diagnosis of no return they just shoo you away into the darkness the nothing the fear...its all in your head ...bullshit - its in their head is the only psychiatric problem i have to deal with
Oh dear - though this made me smile what has happened for you is awful. I think these medics must swallow a volume of Freud for breakfast. I do hope you can get some proper support - I would ask for the 'diagnosis' to be removed from your notes - seems to me they have no real grounds for saying this, its just something they've come up with.
LOL, howl, I nearly wet myself, you are sooooo funny, keep laughing Paul or you really will lose the plot! I look forward to your posts on MSsoc and videos on here, I wish I could have your faith tho as I do wonder where my God is thru my illness.
Lol, you are too funny. You better take this video down before some idiot doctor decides it is real and puts it in your record as proof of your mental problems. lol.
I'm glad that my revelation helped you to find the source of your inner confict too! You must be bad. Dead Goldfish trauma is bad but Dead budie trauma must be worse. Hang on a minute...I've just remembered Joey...
Hi Paul, thanks for this... excellent! If only more of us knew that it would be this easy. Come to think of it, when I was about the same age, my mum woke up my big brother with 'Ricky's dead' (our budgie). I laughted at the time, but this was obviously part of the trauma that was to affect me in my forties. I feel so much better now ;-)
