maaaaan, i played this WAY too much as a kid. i still pretty much know every dungeon by heart xD
but seriously, i still have my trust worthy original SNES version of this game with which ive spent countless amounts of hours with. so awesome back then, the only thing i was concerned about was saving zelda from evil ganon, freeing the land of evil, aaaaaand, someone who is overlooked... links uncle :D
oh how i remember playing this game so much, while everyone was just getting there playstations i still had my trusty super nintendo and the one game in my collection i played the most was Zelda : link to the past, was just an amazing game, the game play, the music, the dungeons were cleverly thought out all in all this was and forever will be one of the best zelda games ever only second though to Ocarina of Time which is an amazing game in its own right
FUUUUUUUCCCKKK I wanted to force my will on the town virgins FUCK FUCK THIS IS THE THANKS I GET FOR SAVING THE WORLD????????? you FUCKERS!!!! and zelda won't even give it up....... ah but I'm over that old torn up p.
When I first beat this game and heard the credits, I started crying and couldn't understand why..so many emotions through me, from happiness of beating the game, to sadness of one's who died, to worrying my family was in danger and I had to protect them, to us being safe from evil...This theme just made me cry...and it still does :). I was 9 years old then, proud, now I'm 25....long live Zelda and beautiful music :)
This game shaped my childhood. That's all I can really say about this. I meen what else can you say. This song blew my mind when i was 6... is blowing my mind now.
Zelda games in general have always been amazing to me, but this one still ranks as my all-time favorite. The ending to this game is one of my favorites. Just a great sense of accomplishment.
I still remember playing this game at my grandmothers (god rest her soul) 20 years ago, when I took the SNES from home to play there...
Good memories and imo one of the best games ever made :) Right now I'm on the job listening to this music and keep repeating it over and over again... I own Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword, but both games just can't compete with this classic! I still play it quite frequently ^_^
I'll name the dislikers: Helmasaur King Arrrghus Mothula Kholdstare Blind the Thief Swamp Eyes Trinexx Aganhim Ganon They dislike this video because they were killed at the hands of not only Link, but the music didn't help either.
I beat this game over and over again, just so I could hear the ending music. It's really beautiful. I'm not ashamed to say it's the first video game that got me emotional!
I believe this was the first game I ever played. Back in the 90s I could afford one game every 6 months or more, so this game got played properly as it should have been - unlike now where I have too many games to truly enjoy any of them.
This music brings back many memories from that time. These days endings are to be skipped, or left running while you do something else. Not so this one.
Beautifully said, RSX. My fondest memories stemming from this game involved playing it with my cousins over the course of months and those awesome moments when we managed to get past an obstacle we'd struggled with for weeks. Mind you, this was before internet strategy guides were available. Those memories with them were somewhat founded by this game, but it actually allowed us to become much closer, which we no longer have.
You know with the release of Skyward Sword, I'm sure I'm not the only one who's listening to tracks like this reflecting on how the Zelda series had impacted their life. People will say "Its only just a game". Wrong. These are people's childhood memories that takes them back to happy times when you could just be a kid and worry about beating a dungeon instead of the real world. Thank you Mr Miyamoto and Mr Kondo for the mark you left on entertainment and the world.
@RSXemperor85 Indeed, sir. I must have played this game about 30 times, (during childhood, until now), I also have started to play skyward sword. It got an amazing soundtrack...
@Markell1991 I agree with you :) SNES was my first console, before that I had computers like Amstrad or PC (x286 ! 33Mhz ! 300Mo of ROM !) and having a console like SNES when it was just released was an amazing gift from my parents. And Zelda was my first video game on it. I took weeks and weeks of intensive playing to finish it, I wanted to finish it perfectly... and I was so moved when I finished it. No game will be ever better than this one, for me.
@Markell1991 if you want to like this game better than OOT thats all up to you
i likes OOT better beacause my father played it when i was like 3 years old and i watched it so it has beacome my childhod but this is a realy epic game to :D
3:50 is where the epicness starts! I'll NEVER forget beating the game for the first time and this music starting during the credits. I was 10 at the time and am 29 now...a true classic!
@Johnzen03 Agreed! This was quite possibly the best ending credits music at the time! Fuck, it's still up there as far as I'm concerned, which is quite impresive considering how archaic the technology is.
This has to be the best ending music to any game, well there is Halo, but seriously as I type this response I cant stop smiling with joy, as the child i was at age 9 in 94' im 26 now.. when i finally beat this game I was proud at the accomplishment I had made. It may sound silly but this game help me understand common sense and critical thinking strategies lol i know farfetched right lol but i owe this incredible game many thanks. The concluding song bit @ 3:20 made me think I was a HERO!
I still have my(or rather my brothers SNES)and occasionally I would go back to play this game with my original cartridge (we both owned one) and just play the hell out of it.Without a doubt, this game is my most favourite of my most favourite series (Zelda if you couldn't tell) on my most favourite consoles ever.PS3 and Xbox be damned but I've played more on my SNES than any other console combined. And i wouldn't trade any of that for the world.
this song brings so much tears to my eyes you just dont hear heartfelt ending themes in today video game soundtracks anymore in my book best ending theme ever
@phubans was relieved from the time ganon dies. But this song makes you want to begin the fight to watch the clip again! I admit I cried the first time ...
I remember playing this with my dad back when I was 4 or 5. I remember we couldn't figure out how to get into the 3rd dark world dungeon. We ended up calling Nintendo tips, or whatever it was called where they would give you help if you were stuck in the game. It took us so long to finally beat it. My dad wasn't super into video games and I was only 4 I think. I remember hearing this song after it was finally finished. Hearing it now makes me cry :(
A Link To The Past and Ocarina of Time were the games I learnt to read with. I spent so much time on these two games when I younger. I don't think I've ever gone a year without completing at least one Zelda game, they just mean so much to me.
Alttp was pretty harsh and unforgiving imo :S Didnt experience it as a "fun" game, it was the art and music that kept me going, but man the ending sequence sure was rewarding :D
Inb4 hoards of RubberFruit followers apparently :|

Probably one of my favourite games, if not my most favourite game. Even though I'm still young and only played the GBA port of this, I can still say this will always be a really deep game for me. Later on in life I'll look back, notice this and sigh. Truly a nostalgic classic.
I could seriously start crying when it hits 5:44 after all that incredible build-up... The first Legend of Zelda game inspired me to want to make games. That was almost 25 years ago, and now it's what I do today.
@phubans ditto on all points... Link to the past was probably the first game I ever played all the way through, when I was about 5 years old. Now I'm a game programmer.
Christmas, 1993. I recieved this game as a gift. About 6 months later, I beat it for the first time. I'll never forget that feeling when I first heard this.
i never completed zelda as a kid...but when i finally did...at age 18...when this song played... i literally cried... i had closed a huge chapter in my life, now i complete this game every september best game ever, it reminds me of simpler times :')
@ponyride23 same, when I was a kid, I could not beat this game because I tought it was to hard but about a week ago. I beat this game for the first time
If anyone wants me to post a video response to this video at my attempt to make this (ENTIRE 7 MINUTE LONG) song on Notessimo (ONCE IT IS FINISHED), help me get this comment to the Top Comments!! Thank you! :D
to me, the pre-credits music of a link to the past[the beginning to about the 3:49 mark] is the most satisfying ending theme in zelda history[and maybe perhaps, gaming history overall]. majora's mask may be my favorite zelda game, but i still get goosebumps from hearing this. here's to many more years of protecting hyrule and the triforce from the clutches of evil that seek it for their own gain!
I miss my old snes... even though I still have it... In perfect condition even! But technology's moving way too fast forward... :( I miss the old days when I used to play this game with my dad *sigh* THAT were good old days, I tell you!
my grandmother used to play video games all the time. we would go over to her house and i would play her super nintendo and still be amazed even though i had a gamecube. eventually, she passed away, and i got the super nintendo. i absolutely loved that super nintendo, and even though i had a wii and could have chosen to download this game, i chose to go on ebay and buy the actual game cartridge. i learned something. always play old games on old systems. re-releases never have the same feeling.
when i was a baby my mother told me that i used to watch my uncle steve (who is awesome by the way) play this game do i believe it yes because i can get for most 18 hearts and no deaths since i carry fairies all the time lol smart thing to do thats for sure. im glad i have the SNES and GBA version because i can play this game on the road and i know the game pretty by heart next to links awakening lol
@CyberIce2000 Well, I was going for release order. I know that OoT came before A Link to the Past, but Twilight Princess is the LAST game in the series, doesn't that game use the master sword as well?
@BLEAHGames124365 Yes it does but I think that ALTTP is the LAST game in the series to use the Master Sword and I think that because of what the end says "...and the Master Sword sleeps again, FOREVER". But, I'm not gonna go into any timeline debate here I'm just gonna enjoy the music. :)
@BLEAHGames124365 Oh I won't either. I really have no idea what I'm talking about. Let's enjoy the nice music that Koji Kondo made and not worry about things like that.
Maybe they should make an HD remake of A Link to the Past.
@AlphaOrigin Well no, you could get the Master Sword in the Oracle games, which happened after Link to the Past. When I made that comment, I was going on the release dates of the game. Sorry for that confusion there. But
@IronBreloom you know i think i heard somewhere on the website called nintendo life that nintendo may remake alttp on the nintendo 3ds not a stright port though but more of a ghraphical 3-d overhual kind of remake i think but keep the same story, gameplay and everything else kinda like how square did when they remake final fantasy III and IV on the ds just by updating the graphics and sound but keep the same story, gameplay and everything so you may get your wish
5:44 pulls really hard at my heart strings :'/ Damn, it's incredible how a song can almost bring a grown man to tears... Takes me back to 1987 when I first played the original Zelda and what a huge influence that had on my life, which is why I got into game design in the first place.
If I ever find an SNES, I will want this game.

to me, the pre-credits music of a link to the past[the beginning to about the 3:49 mark] is the most satisfying ending theme in zelda history[and maybe perhaps, gaming history overall]. majora's mask may be my favorite zelda game, but i still get goosebumps from hearing this. here's to many more years of protecting hyrule and the triforce from the clutches of evil that seek it for their own gain!

Beating this when you were 5 or 6 really gave your life a meaning...these days it's just a commercial basically. And Nintendo totally sold out!

1:17 onwards sounds like final fantasy.
slashedleaf 9 months ago
@slashedleaf this song sounds as much like the final fantasy theme ans Gau's Theme (FF6) sounds like the US anthem.
A few notes... nothing more...

@BLEAHGames124365 What Zelda game do you think takes place after ALttP that uses the Master Sword? Just wondering.
CyberIce2000 9 months ago
@CyberIce2000 Well, I was going for release order. I know that OoT came before A Link to the Past, but Twilight Princess is the LAST game in the series, doesn't that game use the master sword as well?

@BLEAHGames124365 Yes it does but I think that ALTTP is the LAST game in the series to use the Master Sword and I think that because of what the end says "...and the Master Sword sleeps again, FOREVER". But, I'm not gonna go into any timeline debate here I'm just gonna enjoy the music. :)
CyberIce2000 9 months ago
@BLEAHGames124365 Oh I won't either. I really have no idea what I'm talking about. Let's enjoy the nice music that Koji Kondo made and not worry about things like that.
Maybe they should make an HD remake of A Link to the Past.
BLEAHGames124365 9 months ago
@BLEAHGames124365 If you believe in timelines, this is probably THE last time the Master Sword was used.
AlphaOrigin 7 months ago
@AlphaOrigin Well no, you could get the Master Sword in the Oracle games, which happened after Link to the Past. When I made that comment, I was going on the release dates of the game. Sorry for that confusion there. But

@IronBreloom word!
MBizyy 10 months ago
