As someone has already stated ponys of the best type are bred to carry and pull weight, I am more comfortable with this weight on a 3 year old sturdy built pony than a slim 2 year old thoroughbred thats for sure!
Your HORSE - thats the operative word, some people have ponies, they arent designed to get any bigger and this mare is a PONY, so of course your horse would have been way bigger, you or the breaker were probably also a lot shorter. LOL
Thanks BestKeptSecret you've asked what a lot of people didnt have the brains to do, when this filly was broken in she was around 3 years old. Of course not completely correct as we had to guess age using her teeth and development.
hoping that no one takes this the wrong way and just putting this out there but people have many other foods and a kinder way to let a horse pass is to put it down and some vets will do that for free.
Lovelylilmare you think horse slaughter is wrong? what the hell is the matter with you if you think that is wrong, you know whats wrong? watching starving, abandon emaciated horses being dumped on the side of the road in freezing weather cause no one can feed them. THAT is freaking wrong and disturbing! it pisses me off that people who say 'oh slaughter is bad, its so cruel' well god you aint seen cruel yet.
Ok, obviously you must be one of the just jump on and hope for the best crowd hey? Here we make sure a horse is comfortable with us before we hop on, 9 out of 10 breakers of ours act just like this, its all in the groundwork.
The rider may be tall, but he is really thin, and I personally don't believe he weights too much for the equine. Especially because she is a pony, and ponies typically have stronger backs, and can carry more (they were used as pack animals), crossbred ponies also are usually even stronger then purebred ponies depending on the cross.
when they just sauter them inhumainly though i know that peple eat horse and they end up dieing in times of famin and drought but wotz the difference between them and your fluffy dogg curled up on the rug
You guessed right, however you should never just whack a bag on a horse without getting it accustomed to it on the ground first. Its a variation of the old term and method of "bagging".
It is never the same to drive a horse as it is to ride them, with a rider the weight shifts, there is hand and leg movement which just cant be replicated, and before any child got on her someone bigger would have had to anyway.
She is doing WONDERFUL for a FIRST ride =) The only issue is that the dude is too tall but couldn't you get a smaller person on her?? Just wondering!?
Just wanted to answer a few questions posted here, Tanara is a crossbred pony, she is 13 hh so yes she looks small as her rider is 194 cms tall however only weighs 75 kg and was only her rider for the breaking process. Tanara was sold in 2008 to a 5 year old girl who uses her for pony club (and her horsey parents obviously) she has produced a lovely palomino pinto colt foal for them and will now be used as a riding horse. She is very well looked after and we receive regular updates on her.
Slaughter houses or doggers as we call them are a necessary evil, in times of drought in this country it was kinder to dog the horse then to let them die of starvation and thirst. Some also deserve to be there because they are dangerous or have serious health problems. If you save a horse make sure you save one that has the best chance of making something of itself - ie young, healthy and trainable. Our pet hate is seeing people save a broken down 20 something tb gelding which is always lame.
The French have to eat!! You can buy a horse for cheaper than a bit now.. The slaughter markets were a neccessity for idiot backyard breeders!! Now the horses are inhumanely slaugtered in mexico or wherever because of the bright idea to move them from america!! So now the horse business sucks!! they get slaughtered inhumanely now!! and it was all a bright idea!! Maybe people should fix the problem, not throw the problem away
lol wow shes small in height compared to you kinda reminds me of John Wayne an those buckskin horses he used to ride lol he was a giant compared to them alota the time lol. Stunning pinto. Congradulations for giving her a new life :)
She looks small to me and things but she did great and i do to love this song if i had non that she was for sale i whouldev ased my mom if we could go look at her but i no she went to a good home!! And i all rweady have a horse so it is bifrent now and things like that.right?
She did awsome! I just rescued a horse also. She had horrbile hooves and never was out of her pasture(is a 4 year old today). I am planning to et my first ride on her this spring.
I'm impressed by how she just stood there and didn't move a muscle while you made the adjustments to the saddle....and the same thing with the bag....
i love the song, makes me teary!!, looks like she did great! im enjoying watching this!, thank you, congrats, i love the legs hanging low hehe, well done!!! she looks liek she will come great!!!

whats the doggers?
herewefly 2 years ago
Doggers is a word used to refer to horse and cattle buyers who send the animals to slaughter to be made into canned dog food among other things.

she looks too young fot a first ride. You should wait at least till their two because they arent finished growing. but she looks nice
mbertrand30 2 years ago
At the risk of repeating myself, shes a PONY and at breaking was closer to 3 years old, shes not designed to get big, thats what a pony is. Derr!

... she looks like my babyy, almost. He;s more of a drafty looking paint though, reaally really beefy.

What was that bag for?
Was it because horses can freak out if they hear a plastic bag rattling and you were trying to get her use to it or something?

slaughter is always inhumane and there is no way to kill a horse with out injecting harmful chemicals or causing extreme pain to the horse!!!!

isnt this guy a bit to big for that horse he could of put weight on her back and hand drove her

Great explaination of why we need slaughter. You should start a movement, we have horses strarving to death out here in OR.
