  • thanks for the link freakinxawesome, you are freakin awesome man,lol i'm gonna check it out right now.

  • my 92 eagle talon turbo has a problem.it idles up and down erratically in park but not in dirve.it also doesnt have full power.i cleaned the throttle body, didnt help at all.

  • @mrmateo513 Sounds like you've got idle surge. Google search "Terry's Talon Troubleshooting, it should be the first page to come up and it should help you fix the problem if it is idle surge.

  • how do you adjust the ignition timing?

  • @countryboyG The timing is adjusted by rotating the Cam Angle Sensor. but before you do that the car has to be warmed up, and connect a jumper wire to the terminal for ignition-timing adjustment and ground the other end to the frame, then you can rotate the cam angle sensor till your timing is right. (you should also have a timing light to help you.) Check out VFAQ (just google VFAQ) if you haven't already. that site has tutorial for everything with DSMs. I'll PM you the link.

  • just throw some seafoam in there

  • i have the same thing and its pissing me off

  • @happyweedguy When it comes down to it, you're car either isn't getting enough air, or not enough fuel, so you'll want to check then fuel lines, fuel filter, injectors, etc. and then check the intake, make sure the TB opens all the way, no clogs or anything like that. But for me, what fixed it was a new computer, The old one was just cutting off fuel at around 4K RPMs. I have a rebuilt one for a 92 n/t that i'm going to be selling. I don't need it anymore, let me know if you're interested

  • @happyweedguy My mistake, the ECU I have is for a 1990 turbo engine

  • @freakinxawesome all ready did all that i have had it for a year and its the last thing to change. i have two meks looking at it and its what all of us think but thanks for the info =)

  • shit i wish mine would do that lol free launch control

  • no i think theold one is better.

  • hey to the dude whos car is getting no spark try your computer that is what mine was on my 91 non turbo talon it was not starting and getting no spark try getting a new computer i paied like 25 dollers for one out of a 94 and it worked just through a code

  • or you must set ur ignition 6 degrees BTDC, TDC is just to get it running

  • did u ever figure out what was wrong??... i have a mitsubishi eclipse 95 with turbo and this same thing happens.... i cant go over 40 mph.. when i get to 40 the air pressure comes up and it just wot accelerate anymore

  • @edgar123chingon2004

I did figure it out, for me it was a bad computer, so i got a new one. but usually when that happens, you're either not getting enough air, or enough gas, so check the fuel filter, injectors, everything in the fuel delivery line, and if you have a friend with a similar car, try their computer in yoru car.

  • mine had the BIG air hose loose it was almost off! i just put it in right and problem fixed..haha

  • i have the same problem man but mine wont start no more i have no spark any ideas??

  • i have a 95 talon that i bought for 200 timing belt was shreaded i got new belt ,tensioner, pulleys, and valves hevent got the head off yet but i feel your strugle

  • Your cat is clogged.

  • i had the exact same probs with mine, same year n/t and all. check plugs.. if there is oil on more than one it could be valve stem seals.. if not, head gasket, but in my case, unfortunately, it was the rings. i just pulled motor to rebuild. best of luck to you man, i feel your pain.

  • I have a 91' TSi 2wd myself, it drives great, but it acts really weird too. My problem is that the idle is just fine when the car is standing still, but the second it starts rolling (with car in neutral), the idle jumps waaay up. I adjusted some things (idle speed switch, idle set screw) today to try and fix it, but it still does the same thing. I'm desperate for an answer to this one, I haven't even been able to find a professional mechanic that could solve it.

  • Get a new carb for it or take it off and clean it. =] Do you have any videos of it?

  • FUEL INJECTION!!

  • So you fixed it? I drove an Eagle like your for ten years and got to know it better than any girlfriend I ever had. First, adjust timing (crank angle sensor on top of engine, passenger side). Set idle speed (idle speed screw next to throttle body). Check for vacuum leaks and make sure all hoses are routed properly! The computer might be bad but you wanna try this last (they cost about $200). Also, change the timing belt religiously at 60k intervals!!!

  • i got my 93 laser rs running,1500 spent on the motor, then the tranny went out and now i cant afford a rebuilt tranny

  • oh man that sucks. check out ebay motors or craigslist. You should be able to find one for no more than $400. You can also try a junkyard, but then you'll be taking your chances on if it works or not. But good luck, I hope you get it fixed

  • @tropicjester12 go tthe junkyard and pull a tranny off a wrecked dsm for 50bucks. thats what i did haha that was 3yrs ago and its atill running strong

  • @ooikwf you were very lucky to find a good used one,I have too many toys,I sold it to a circle track racer and recently bought a 1988 gta trans am ! check out the videos, hey do you like the new youtube? I dont!

  • did u change the mass air flow censor?? if you did? its most likely the computer!!your car got issues very weird! lol

  • I did change the sensor. So the computer is my next guess. I've got one on its way, so hopefully that will fix it. Its nice to know someone agrees with me that it might be the ECU

  • ya all early 90s cars have bad quality ECU's.if you own a talon you should have two of them for parts you will need them!lol good luck with your car it would be nice to see another DSM on the road!

  • well it was goin' pretty good til bout half way through the spal spurner started smokin', then hydro-pin dun spun off the manifold drive, you might just have to shut er down!

  • haha, darn you andrew, i'm looking for serious responses here from people who kinda know what they're doing. but thanks for making my morning :D
