  • Thanks for this.

  • This has been stuck in my head since mr. wray showed us this in class like a month ago xD

  • Song is officially stuck in my head for basically ever! Hey at least I will remember it!!!!!

  • thumbs up if your psych teacher sent you here.

  • Played this for my classes before their test on Thinking and Language (I'm an AP Psych teacher). They loved it. Thanks.

  • I have to say that I'm guilty at times of Expectancy Bias. Very informative and entertaining!

  • I wish I heard this song when I had to memorize these

  • @Zaq1216 I'm hearing this song and I have to memorize these for tomorrow. FUCK YEAH!

  • Great !

  • lol good lyrics, but the song needs some work on in my opinion

  • This would've been so awesome when I took AP Psych! Luckily I still remember them all over two years later! Psych major ftw :D

  • Loved the song. Rated and subbed.

  • 8 people still haven't figured out that Mr.Wray is the man.

  • I feel like I just forgot about these concepts since taking Psychology so long ago, my teacher wasn't memorable, neither was her classes, but this is ... excellent. The "see the forest for the trees" hit me, I've been categorizing people a lot lately, it was good reminder, perhaps a eye opener again to concepts I know I often throw on the back burner.

  • I think I am going to show this to my intro to psycho class tomorrow as we study thought processes.

  • thumbs up if your a student from uws watching this lol

  • "The grammar gestapo..."

Yeah - it's not like it's a song about English language. Or a few typos in the base code for a nuclear reactor. It's only Psychology. It's not, like, even a proper science, is it?

  • Haha nice

  • What's the bias which describes the impossibility of fulfilling a request, for example, "...don't let bias into your mind?" Do you know anyone sharp enough to never fail to do this? Besides that, nice job.

  • This is brilliant. Can't commend you enough!

  • omg, i really love this song and can't stop listening and can't sleep early to wake up tomorrow for class ! i really appreciate the singer and all who participate in this song.

i am sure i will listen it tomorrow again. love you all !!!

    thankkkkkkkkkkkkkkk youuuuuuuuuuuuuuu sooooooooo muchhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!!!

  • this song is a insidious mind worm.... i play it to my 7 year old son..... never to young to learn that the mind field is a mine field....

  • I seriously cannot stop listening to this song o.o This is the 6th time in 2 days.

  • @beejit we do. :) he is the best teacher I have ever had. checked this page after an argument about bias to find out that it has about 60k more views than when I first watched it.

  • This is GENIUS!!!!

  • I hope your students appreciate you!

  • you sir are awesome.

  • What it lacks in flow, it makes up for in reach. Much fun!

  • @rasorclips huh? I didn't call you that.

  • Excellent video.

  • Yay!

  • Anyone want to take money on when the lead singer breaks off and goes on his own? ;-)

  • Hello wraybm1, I am a member of the Grammar Gestapo. I must inform you that you have spelled 'succes' wrong.

  • Don't let bajs into your mind

  • You´ve got a really nice voice! Do more songs!

  • Three thumbs up, from a former psych prof. You will be famous throughout the land...

Thanks, and nice job on the multitracking.

  • Great job!

  • They sure sound like a bunch of logical fallacies to me!

  • I'M IN THIS GUY'S AP PSYCH CLASS!

  • strange but nice videosong :)

  • thank you, thank you, thank you!

  • Does the chorus of this song imply a bias which presupposes that humans can in fact be free of bias?

  • Why are AP Psychology teachers so awesome? I still remember my High School AP psychology teacher calling Philip Zambardo "that Satan-looking guy". Most hilarious teacher ever...not afraid to jest with her students.

  • Shit! As soon as I talk shit about boingboing they linked to this. I liked this

  • cool

  • Availability Bias is always the first bias I think of, and the most important. By contrast, Anchoring Bias is unimportant: we don't need two biases beginning with 'A'. I remember that learning about Expectancy Bias was exactly as I thought it would be.

  • Representative Bias is the typical sort of elitist crap all cognitive scientists love. So is Confirmation Bias; all my friends tell me they agree with me on that. I hated the idea of Self-Consistency Bias even before I knew what it was, and I knew as soon as I saw the name that Hindsight Bias would be useless.

  • BTW, my explanation of Self-serving Bias is awesome, and if you don't get it, it's because you're stupid.

  • I loved this video. Very creative! Make more please.

  • Could you add a link to download an MP3 of this song?

  • I'm planning on showing this in several critical thinking classes I teach. Thank you for the outstanding work!

  • You are a genius my friend! Best exam prepping song I've heard!

  • Should have finished with - BIAS on mp3 format from Amazon or Itunes!

  • awesome song! best educational song i've heard in a while

  • Brilliant. I will definitely keep this on hand and reference it as I try to remove bias from my own mind.

  • I like this song. Thanks for putting it out there!

  • If only my psych teacher was as entertaining as you... :'(

  • If only my psych teacher was as entertaining as you... :'(

  • I am so using this to study, much more fun then books =D

  • Damn! You have some songwriting skillz!!!! I feel like you should get a red-headed drummer and a kick-ass multi-instrumentalist dude named Hensley or some shit and form a sweet indy-type band.

  • my exam is tomorrow, THANK YOU!

  • I always hated this video, I knew I'd hate it when I clicked on the link to some hipster who cant even spell right... The other guy who hated this was right. My own video would have been better if the program wouldn't have been a piece of crap.

Did I get all the biases in one post?

    I actually love this video

  • These are the worst lyrics I ever heard.

  • This is FABULOUS! thanks for sharing....i am sharing this widely with my network...what fun!

  • More teachers need to be like you. I think it is great when a teacher goes out of their way to help their students learn and be interested in both the information and the process of learning. Your students are very lucky indeed!

  • @MoriorV Thanks a bunch!

  • Say what? Not bad for a whitey song

  • This is the best, catchiest song about cognitive bias that I've ever heard!

  • Excellent (though I'm a little disappointed you didn't get "bias another pint" in there ;-) )

  • @PhilthyBastard Nice!

  • It's cool that you made a song, but it sounds more like a bunch of definitions strung together. If there was a regular rhythm to the lyrics, it would probably be much easier for your students to remember.

  • I always think that availability bias is the most important. It's the first one that comes to mind anyway.

  • @chrisofnottingham lol, I see what you did there!

  • Awesomeness of the day just went up a level.

  • Awesomeness of the day just went up a level.

  • Great Job Teach! (from a fellow psych teacher)

  • That was pretty decent, thank you.

  • Loving this video

  • Thank you... I think it's great that first, you did this for your students, and then second, shared it. I hope the publicity means some people will benefit from the exposure / reminder. :-)

  • If there was a series of these, I bet I could get a 5 on my test next week from watching them all.... hint hint :D

  • This is great! You've got some lucky students!

  • Brilliant.

  • A great video to show to Psychology students! Hehe.

  • Good song, but you'd think an AP Psych teacher wouldn't have copious amounts of typos.

  • @tmoffett34 Hey! Thanks for being an example of both anchoring and representativeness bias. Anchoring by focusing on a small detail like one type and one misspelling. Representativeness by thinking that a teacher automatically has to have zero typos. I was careless... give me a break. :-)

  • @wraybm1 Don't get me wrong, it's a great song! But unfortunately it was far more than "one type" that scrolled across the screen. Was hoping they could be cleared up before those AP kids discover them for themselves!

  • @wraybm1 Wouldn't it only be anchoring/representativeness bias if he concluded that the video was bad because of the typos? Isn't it clear thinking to say that it's a fun, informative song, AND you should fix the typos? :-)

  • @wraybm1 Damn it! I should've watched this video before, when I was arguing with some guy on Reddit. Anchoring was what I tried to nail down in his comments.

  • @tmoffett34 this is just like the perfect response on a video like this wow.

  • Excellent!

  • yeah! heres a toast to great teachers! i bet your students will still be humming this at middle age- a wonderful pedagogical tool.

  • damn i love the brain

  • I love this song!

  • Some or all of these kinds of bias apply also to the practice of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

  • you just won todays internets. Congrats!

  • @CallumMack Thanks... is that what it means to be on Boing Boing?

  • @wraybm1 Yep, boing boing is, well one summit. time to do your lap of the internet

  • @wraybm1: For reference, "internets" when used in the context of a congratulatory award is a loosely (read: un-) defined and entirely arbitrary unit of what essentially amount to "awesome points". Thus, saying something like "you win 5 Internets" is a fancy way of saying that the poster thinks highly of your work. Also note that the amount of Internets [sic] you win is made up on the spot, and does not have any relative or comparative significance. Oh, and for the term "Internets', blame Bush.

  • Oh, and I think the song was pretty great too. :P

  • @geeksomeguy Thanks for the clarification. I've getta start using this term. I think you win several internets just for telling me. :-)

  • Epic work! The internets say thank you.

  • Where was this before I took that test?! Would have helped so much

  • This is full of win.

  • Mr Wray, this is so wonderful I can't even find words to describe it.

  • Mr. Wray, you are truly are amazing hahaha that was fabulous (:

  • Has anyone ever told you that you are the best teacher ever?

  • Hmmm...Now the student is the teacher. This is absolutely fantastic.

  • Bahaha, Mr. Wray, this is perfection!
