Just wanted to thank everyone for the kind words and hope this helps a lot more people. my main goal was to make something simple and functional, that everyone can build and use. Its all about enjoying driving games. And its not about how much it costs but how it works. Thanks again to everyone.
that's pretty much what i have in mind, but I'm thinking about making a fiberglass shell around it then paint it to look sorta like a formula 1 cockpit... anyway, many thanks for including the dimensions of your project, really shaved some fitting / measuring time
There is something about this music that bothers me. It takes a shit load of skill to play this stuff but yet it sounds like shit. You know what they say... Too much of anything is bad.
@I20cK3r the sides are 48",front and back are 20", pillars are 20" (thats 4 total, plus one for the eat bracket), and the length between those two. pillars mount 30" from rear of stand. what else do you need? pretty simple set-up. if you send me your email, i send you a drawing
@Lukeschedel you do what you want.I opted to build my own, because i work on cars and have parts laying around. you can get a seat from the junk yard. you're gonna pay $70 to $150 for a stand. and $300 to $600 on a cockpit... Like I said do what you want. Just be creative.
question about your dimensions, the size from back of stand to posts for column show 19", but it seems longer than the width of unit. was it a typo. GREAT job though, can't wait for GT5
dude i made my own too from my dads woodshop...dude yours is wayy better than mine. i just basically made a table to my height. dude yours is all out...sweet...my seat is my couch lol! not many race cars got couches in them lol...dude im so ready for nov 2!
@juarez122191 likie i say, whatever works. And yeah, i cant wait either...although it has been over 5 years since the last GT release. it will be well worth it!
Hi there gillieman760 .. I have uploaded the video of my DIY project named SpeeDee .. check it out in my videos ... thanks for the inspiration .. appreciate it ... Happy Gaming!
hi this is going to be my first build so im just wondering. in your supplies it doesnt list a 48" piece of wood x2. correct me if im wrong, do i need:
@deshanridesscooters you need three 2x4's(which are 8' in length), a piece of plywood cut to specs. those are dimensions you were reading. the whole thing was framed with "3" 2x4's. I'm guessing you'll have to mock up your own seat mount, being that i can't come build it for you. hope that clears it up. this build does require some sort of craftsmanship. let me know if you need any more help
Nice job. Good idea, getting a seat @ a JY. I've been trying to figure out a cheap build too. I'm like you. Even though I could afford it, I just cant see paying $250 for a cockpit & another $300 for a G25/27. Already got a pantload tied up in LCD/PS3/360/surround sound, etc.
@rockerman212 thats funny. i didn't see a video of your set up. when you post yours up let me know so i can critique it as well. i wouldn't spend $300 on a fake steering wheel in this life time. if i wanna drive that bad I'll get in my REAL car.
@hockeyx1564 i had bought the seats from ebay originally, but they suck for use in an actual car lol. try the junk yard to find a seat. and just custom mount it. its cheaper
hell yeah man! good luck on that. I'll post another video once I get it painted and the angled pedals installed. thanks for looking. let me know how it comes out.
I actually ended up modifying an old wooden chair and turning it over in a way that makes it slide right up to my couch like a dashboard lol believe it or not it works GREAT. If I post a vid I'll send ya a link to it... it's kinda funny actually.. I even put a hood ornament and deer whistles on it lol
Building one but got to wait till x mas for my wheel doh!

Whats the build look like under the car seat? I have all the supplies but not sure how you built the bottom for stability under the seat
I20cK3r 1 year ago
@I20cK3r its gonna depend on how the seat you have mounts. you're gonna have to mock it up yourself

is there a setup video? the dimensions are kind of sketchy on what cuts need to be made where
