  • @aventador32

    Forgot about the 383

  • @aventador32

Seriously? O M G. The 426 HEMI was an optional engine in the challenger guy. Went from a Slant Six, 340, 440, 440-6, and the 426 HEMI. With tuning the 440-6 could outrun the HEMI for a lot less money but stock for stock it was quicker but not faster. But the HEMI had the torque to back up everything, 500 ft lbs to b exact.

  • I thought 70 challenger was a 426 Hemi

  • Remember!!! Friday nights, looking for races on Harbor Blvd. OR driving down Beach Blvd. till you hit Whittier looking for other fast cars. Can't forget Sunday nights with Big Whillie and the Street Racers. We used to tow our car in at about 8:00 and hope for another good car to show so we could race, only bad thing was the cops waiting outside the shopping center parking lot for about 50 cars to all at once pull out to go race, we raced what is explained in the post below

  • We raced a 64 Dodge Dart with a straight front axle. dropped in a police intercepter motor which was a 413 hemi with two holly 650 double pumpers sitting or top of a crossram. had a torqueflight trans with a 2600lb torque converter running a 356 rearend. Trans by Art Car and motor blue printed by Enis racing. Those were the best days only car that beat us was a 69 Chevelle with a 396 big block, it was injected so it was fast... Monarch's of Garden Grove was our club...

  • old challenger is the best

  • @Sos34111 you are correct. I am old man now but the old purple and white challenger with 340 6 pack was quick. not the best though. GTX with 440 magnum was an awesome car and still my favorite next to the Veyron.

  • I take both cars, the old one is a killer!!!!

  • old and new challengers are beast

  • Not Going to lie they're both great cars so stop hating

  • old Dodge is amazing

  • AWESOME!!!! My 70 R/T is Hemi Orange. Ten year old paint job - Needs updating. Maybe I'll paint it white.

  • boooorn on the BAAAAYOUUU!

  • the newest cars i like is 93 then they started making crap wish they wold make the old fashion cars still and forget about the safety crap. new cars have no bumpers just plastic or fiberglass. has shot guns in the steering weal. air bags are bs. they try to bring the muscle car back and it looks like crap. i want to see the old cars remade in the same way.

  • I have a 70 and a 71 challenger both are 440s . Thinking about painting the 70 white like the one in vanishing point

  • @scootinmopar I wish i had 1 :)

  • No question the 1970 car was the penultimate Dodge. In 1970 the EPA was founded that was the start of the end of the American car.

  • damnn what year is that charger?

  • I actually found one in a field in kansas

  • Cool car and why hasn't anyone posted this movie on youtube yet??? I can't find it anywhere...:-((!!

  • Awesome car I just want one sitting in my driveway!!

  • My dream car, which i probably wont ever have

  • @smish34 no, don't say that? how old are you? Everything is possible... its not that expensive. You can find used one for around 10k

  • @TheJCJexe Maybe in the US, but im on the UK, and the only ones around here go for 30k or more

  • Brilliant tribute to one of my all-time favourite films and cars!

Oh, and massive envy here! ;D

  • I dont get VP :P that challenger would have ran out of gas within hours of driving it the was Kowalski did x[

  • Old challenger ftw. New challenger doesn't come close

  • Unique movie and car

  • The classic.... Never goes out of style.

  • I'd take either one if i could.lol They did the new one right..The 2005 mustang was also right in look and stance..The new camaro not so much..?The new camaros look ok but i would of rather seen more of a retro look to them.

  • Old or New Dodge Challenger!!! OA5599 is the LIVING LEGEND

  • I would take the old one because it has more power and it looks better.

  • You can see Vanishing Point on Netflix.

  • i want take the new engine in the old .. so sexy

  • in 40 years, our kids are going to argue with people on their equivalent of the internet saying things like "your an idiot, the classic '2011 muscle will beat any new 2055 POS!" whos with me?

  • @MrWoodlandAirsoft they'll have hover cars and shit

  • @MrWoodlandAirsoft I'd give you a high five for that if I could.

  • @llamaman12349 lmao, hey it is true :P

  • new challenger is too boxy, old challenger just looks like it can take whatever you can throw at it

  • @Horizonz2 man, I SO agree, I really like the new Challenger, but put it next to an original one......can't even compare. The lines are JUST right on the original....the newer one is so thick......

  • The old one.

Reason because in 10 years the world will fight over such things as petrol and shit well you can fuck off shotgun + tons of shells and a bucket load of petrol.

  • thats how a MANS car sounds, now go outside and floor it in your Prius, hear that, no ?, exactly ...

  • My Dad rented me one of these Challenger 440R/Ts for a week when I reached driving age, as a birthday gift. Purple metal flake. I didn't sleep much that week, my friends and I cruised the blvd... a lot!

  • Aint anothing like the replica if it doesnt have the 426 R/T

  • @sfgiantsfan500 Get the lambo, sell it, then buy a good house and a muscle car.

  • 1:53 shows you the power and the brutality that we all love in classic cars! ;)

  • Cars almost drive themselves nowadays...we keep giving up real control. Feeling that 70 Challenger put power to the ground with no microchips diluting your powerslide has no substitute. Doing it the wrong way can get you killed, but doing it right always makes you a friggin' hero.

  • @CosmicDigital507 Unfortunately, too many people see 'Fast and Furious', and try it, and end up doing it the wrong way...ergo..you put in 'nanny controls' to keep the rest of us from getting caught up in the debris...

  • 39 people dont know what real american muscle is

  • New Challenger at 48K will be 24K in three years. 440 Six Pack Challenger may be 200K in three years. The market place does not lie.

    r.states E-Bay - Ontos East

  • @spammortician 1976 ish drove a MOPAR purple and white with pistol grip to daytona returned and picked up a purple and white challenger with 340 6 pack to drive home. as an aside rode in a mustang with 429 cobra jet. awesome compression would snap you back in the seat.

  • ahh..nostalgia. Wish I had some of the cars I had back in the day. 2- 72 challengers, 1 cuda. The 65 GTO convertible, the 68 SS camaro, the 68 SHELBY GT500 convertible, more Mustangs that you can shake a stick at, the old Corvettes, but...they weren't so rare then. ~sigh~

  • I rather put my money on the original at least they are American built - While the new ones are built and imported from Canada - So much for the American Icons - Hell even the Mustangs are built with Made In China Crap

  • I actually like the new challenger better I think! But the old chargers are still better than the new ones! (:

  • They don't make them like they use to !!!

  • i like how the new and the old has the same body style should have did that with the charger too

  • @biqqforlife88 Have you checked out the new Charger? It's super retro, especially the back. The only flaw is the extra two doors...

  • I'm sorry for disagreeing with you guys, but I love the menacing looks of the newest Challenger. It looks beefier than the thin, bony old one.

  • @RetroFreak85 I'd take a new Challenger too in a heartbeat. But if they ever remake Vanishing Point, they should use the '70 version, and make it take place in the 70s.

  • the original was a hemi...the new challenger says hemi but its not.

  • Old ftw.

  • old cars better

  • New = pos

    Old = Best thing EVAR

  • i have both the movies the first one and the remake made sometime in the 1990s there both great to watch the first one i got it on blu-ray at walmart for $10 but the remake is was pretty hard to find in fact i looked everywere for it and i found only one real dvd of the remake at the time online i didnt want any bootleg dvds of it and so it cost me almost $40 for it on dvd but it is a great movie and i still think theres very few of them out there so if you find one grab it

  • i was was always a camaro guy had two of them my frist one was a gift from m my mom and dad it was 1989 camaro RS with a stock 5.0L 305ci TBI v8 rated at 170hp but since it had 2:73 gears in the rear it was able to do over 130mph the 2nd one was my 1994 camaro z28 with a 5.7L 350ci v8 rated 275hp stock & 2:73 gears after alittle time work it was pushing almost 400hp iv had that car over 140mph and still had alittle bit of pedal left that car was my fastest one yet i want a challenger next time

  • The new challenger looks like it got squished like it's too short and fat :p

  • the 70 will sell for alot more then the 08

  • how much would the 1970 r/t cost with the tune ups you guys did

    ??

  • "muscle" cars these days doesn't have the same appeal as the old ones, the real muscle cars was just plain simple, you step on the on the pedal directly attached to the engine, no going through a computer non-sense. and their sound is so amazing

  • @sawyerbobby i agree with you i collect old prewar & postwar lionel train sets that run with heavyduty parts & open frame pullmor motors and there made to last the ones made today thay run off circuit boards cheap can motors i cant see that stuff 50 years from now but back to cars the old ones were built with more power better looks and alot ezer to work on my dad is 65 years old and has a 2009 dodge charger 5,7L hemi there alot of issues with the 4 to 8 cylinders not working right

  • @grizzleybearz282004 the thing is,car companies try to make new cars better than old ones, but they end up making it worse,it seems like only high performance car makers are the ones that actually improve, they try to improve engine performance put computer here and there, but a 60's 70's muscle car or any jap car is straight forward, engine-pedals-knobs-shifter, because its all straight forward there's less complications when something breaks, and easier to fix

  • @sawyerbobby like i said about my dads 09 5.7L hemi charger everytime he brings it in to the dealer ship all thay do is reset the cumputer and thats it then thay tell him drive it for 500 miles and if its still doing it bring it back hes been there over 15 times i spoke with one of the auto mec over there and he says i see it its just thay wont let us do any forther work unless theres an engine light on that 4 to 8 setup is junk just like it was when thay did it to the caddys back in the 1970s

  • Computer is the last thing that should be put in a muscle car.

  • OLD

  • asdfhgjkhljhgbvcxl ,lmb;slsadffas .... sorry just wiping the jizz off my keyboard

  • I have a 2011 challenger rt automatic, same car. I got the 0-60 timer on evic, and did it in 4.82 seconds, stock. Whoever said 0-60 in 5.7 seconds doesnt know how to drive.

But then at the same time, once in a while the car has some "dead spots" where I hit the accelerator expecting power and it isnt there..... Why?

  • @TheJellybean1988 because your gay

  • 39 people drive a Segway.

  • @MrDeathrider1 Agreed.

  • show me how to live

  • Love em both...So happy to own a 2009 and loved my 1970. Of the two there is no question the 2009 is far better in almost all aspects but COOL...no ride ever is or was as cool as the 70 Chally....

  • Old of course is a thousand times better, but hey, at least the new challenger actually looks like the classic. Not like the new garbage charger and camaro...

  • Audioslave - Show me how to live

  • thers nothing better than the original...only different

  • unfair comparison, First off At the least the new challenger is a srt8 vs a r/t, He's running a 6.1 liter/383 c.i. and the other guy is running a 440 bored to 472 pushing 600+ horses and the 08' has all that electronic fuel injection and crap, now when it comes to reliability, practicality, of course the 08' wins, but 70' is packed with horses and shit the 70' is like a Party pack For crying out loud

  • Great!!! What a beautiful machine!

  • 0:29 Um, there tires squealin on that sand????

  • Of coarse, i'd take the old one BUT then again the new one packs more of a punch with a smaller engine. 6.1 Liter = 383 c.i. compared the the 440 being bored to a 472. It's not a fair comparison due to the fact of electronic fuel injection and other computer add-ons... none the less.. the 70' is still way more badass. Put all that shit on the 472 and you'll get way more than 600 horses!

  • Nope, not the same. Vanishing Point's challenger was SUPERCHARGED!

  • Two words summed this beast up beautifully... "RAW" "INTIMIDATING".

  • That beautiful sound.....*sploosh*

  • 2:26 Had the original stayed out of the rev limiter it probably would have done some damage against its modern copycat. I think Chrysler did a good job revamping the Challenger (I've never driven any). Light years ahead in suspension, and the engine is a 21st century V8. Much bigger than the original when side by side. And, too fat.

  • To each their own. Here are my thots. I turned teen in the 1960's. I have owned a '70 Challenger RT for many years as well other era classics (Charger, Corvette, Cougar - yeah I love C's, all except the Camaro & Cuda, go figure.) I have driven the original versions each as well modern. My impression of the modern ones? Where's the vomit bag. No comparison - vintage Mopar rules. Style unmatched - I humbly say, what they put out today (and for the decades since '70) is garbage.

  • @theprizoner that's one fine opinion!

  • The 1970 has much nicer lines. The new ones are okay, but they need to go on a diet. They're too bulbous looking for me.

  • I would take the old one

  • It's rated GP for Great Picture!!! :P

  • One thing the new Dodge now is gas saver this days no power like the old one

  • @beyonbeach

No power? dude the new one makes wayyy more power than the old one. The old one is cool, a statement, and raw, but people need to realize that new cars are far newer than old ones.

  • Vanishing point... RATED GP!!!! lmfao!

  • he would listen to the cd player the whole ride i would listen to the engine

  • hìhí_ânY0ñÉ_wAÑnå_chÀt_wÍth_mÊ_ì_fEel_sØ_lÔñëlý_tÕDâY■

  • Old cars are beautiful. I love this 1970 Challenger:)

  • You upgrade the suspension, diff, brakes, steering, transmission, and install a new 6.4 crate motor, you'll have the best of both worlds.

  • Very hungry and agressive car...I like

  • dodge had great cars then. i had a 69 road runner. 440. talk about scary power. u can feel the g force sucking u into the seat.

  • Those classic Dodges are the shit!!

  • a bit of paint ,wheels, n a makeover will do

  • Nunca trocaria um 70 pelo novo...

  • It was 1982, and I was at a Yamaha shop . Taking of my helmet , I saw what I THOUGHT was a restored Challenger . White w/ red interior and red pinstripe . The tires were red striped 70's series with the fake cragar hubcaps . On the hood in the cowling was the emblem 440 Magnum SIX PACK and of course the pistol grip shifter was on the console . Absolutely spotless. I would have cut off both balls with a pocket knife and wrapped them in a box for that car . It was for her nephew......she said .

  • In my 94 6M Z28 I can do the 180 in the middle of the st like the end of this vid without even jerking around at all. If you powerbrake from about 1200 (eventhough it's a stick) it will break em loose nice and easy and work it till it wants to hook again like you're on snow. I have old cars too so don't assult me.

  • old is best

  • COOL

  • the asshole are you one of thoes english queers you know the arrogant fucks. the queen is a whore, allways has been and allways will be. thats why people like me that have the small amount of english in my background dont claim it. the german part well, it says go fuck your mother punk. so fuck off baby. AMERICAN MUSCLE STILL AND ALLWAYS WILL ROCK JUST LIKE OUR HARLEY DAVIDSONS

  • thing cant even get in to 3rd with out spinnin tires fuck yhaa go dodge

  • go go, kowalskie go, der film lief in der ddr unter "GRENZPUNKT NULL" absoluter KULT. dieses auto, geiler dodge challenger,,,,

  • Why make a replica? Make a pretty one

  • its almost like i never want to see that car clean, it just looks more evil dirty, and who needs a cd player? i could listen to tha engine all day and night

  • Comparing and Enzo to an old Mopar . All you guys are so full of bullshit.

  • @moshen66 your just p9issed because the 600 K eurocrap can be beat by a 69 dodge. thats funny.

  • @123456789mischief Thankyou for the bullshit demonstration by once again comparing apples and oranges.

  • @moshen66 thank you for showing everyone how pissy ferrari fans are when they get their asses handed to them by an old american muscle car. proving these over priced cars are in themselves bullshit.

  • @123456789mischief I built and own a big block 66 chevelle for the last 18 years , so I know what old muscle is capable of, and the distinct style that millions love . Old muscle will not out perform a Ferrari or any super car anywhere except in a straight line. But much like Harley Davidson owners , muscle car fans seem to to think their machines have the best of everything. I would get better results having a conversation with a brick wall.

  • @moshen66 and you missed the point showing yourt inability to get the most basic point of a conversation. A car built in 1969 still has the ability to perform at the same level as newer cars. as for handling I will take the word of the pros that raced the old muscle and felt this car handled incredibly well.

maybe you should converse with a brick wall then you will be with something of your equivalent IQ level.

  • @123456789mischief Obviously , performance car chassis engineering has progressed light years ahead of your education. Old muscle does not have the ability to handle like the new cars unless you do a lot of work to the suspension, and stiffen up the sloppy chassis. leaf springs, steering boxes with control arms that bump steer, and torsion bars work OK, but thats about it. Keep on spilling out the bullshit though - it amuses me.

  • @moshen66 FUCK FORIGEN SHIT CHEVYS ARE ALMOST AS BAD AS FERRARIS, YOU SHOULD DRIVE INTO ONE IF YOU CANT HANDLE OLD MUSCLE CARS, THEN STAY WITH YOUR OLD LADY DRIVING YOU AROUND HELL SHE PROBLE DRIVES BETTER THAN YOU ANTWAYS AS FOR THE HARLEYS GO TO HELL YOU FUCKIN FAG NIGGER LOVIN CUNT NEVER PUT DOWN THE MACHINE and now thank you for reading this kenneth a sylvester 4246 rt 84 kingsville ohio 44048 theres my name and address so if you dont like it come kick my ass

  • @lightninluke64 Canada bitch- thats right your neighbors that are doing fine with the recession- population 34 million- California population 37 MILLION ! Americans like need to stop breeding and riding around on your oil leaking Harleys with your sister on the bitch seat.

  • @lightninluke64 i live relativly close to kingsville lol

  • @123456789mischief Amen Brother! I'm a huge dodge fan and I never knew that the thing could hit 243 mph though. Pretty bad forty odd years later, they could only squeeze another 20 mph out of that to make the veyron. American iron all the way baby!

  • @GlennFalconiVEVO And since I haven't seemed to adress the fat issue, I can run a mile in 4 min and 37 seconds. Faster than your GT-R. And in 40 years on the chargers 80th Bday the gtr will be recycled back into R/C cola cans and legos

  • @GlennFalconiVEVO oh dear... I've seen we've brought fastest cars. How about this; a 1969 Dodge Daytona with a single four barrel carb and a single plane intake, coupled to a 4 speed, hits 205 mph. It is a 4200 pound car with BETTER aerodynamics than a Ferrari F430. It's only 12 mph slower than the Ferrari Enzo, which hits 217 mph tops. The Daytona cost $4,050 or so new. The Ferrari can be yours for $670,000. For 20,000 of that I could make that Daytona run circles around your damn Mario cart.

  • @the934x4 I never believe anything people say on youtube and your 205 mph claim is out to lunch. so I checked it and yes the sale version could go 205, in 1969 Charlie Glotzbach ran a lap in the mule at 243 mph.

so much for being slower than an enzo. I make no secret that I am not a dodge fan but I will never say they can't build a good machine. and I love the fact that a 1969 american V8 can blow the doors off new eurocrap.

  • Beautyf!!!

  • PG? .... that includes boobs and swearing? lol

  • Wat size tires are on the back of the 70

  • pfft is the new one even worthy of the '70's presence?

  • just watched the movie.. awesome!

  • I hate it how all new muscle cars looks almost the same, cars from 60's and 70's are amazing.

  • Goddam!! Was it 38 year ago I went to the cinema to see that film????? Way to go Kowalski!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • classic vintage muscle =) best!

  • I don't care what they try to do with the new models. They will never have the soul of the original cars from the 60s and 70s. The new challenger looks really fat and bulky like a tonka truck. It looks like a kids toy made to be easy to grip and without any sharp edges, all rounded and plastic for safety. The original cars are simply alive, stunning, and most importantly; raw, dangerous, and intimidating.

  • @FelixTheHouseFreak and better!

  • This car has that certain x factor, the wow fACtor when you are walking with your screaming children and you go past one thats been fully restored or a new one, and you pause for a moment, and think "If i had worn a condom" then maybe, just maybe i could have been driving around in one of these. These muscle cars do that to you. You see the guy getting out of one, and a kid will think he is instantly cool because he owns one of these cars. You all know what I mean. I just wish my Camry did it 2

  • I like modern cars better than old cars

  • We don't need no stinkin' computers to tell us when to make power. That why God gave us a brain and a right foot.

  • @dutchboy25al too bad some people dont know how to use it

  • @dutchboy25al dont forget about the left foot!

  • @welldorocks LOL!

  • @dutchboy25al True. I tell the car what to do, not the other way around!

  • loved vanishing point after watching tarantino's death proof

  • Old Challenger will never die!!

  • I was in austin 2 weeks ago:) ...BTW you guys should like stop fighting

  • B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L My favorite muscle car!!!

  • with the '70 YOU were in control...with the new one? Well, the "computer" decides. BS to that! Give me the old one.

My car was a '64 Dodge Polara 500 convertible with 426.

  • @spahjrp

i couldnt agree with you more. the new 'muscle cars' shouldnt even be called that.

putting a v8 in a car does not make it a muscle car.

  • @spahjrp Agreed. I'll decide what I want to do and when. Love the original Challenger!

  • i would take a 70 over a new one anyday!

  • @88jjdecay you said it brother!!

  • @88jjdecay i would take the 70s dodge over the new one .. and the new dodge over any other modern car any day..

old dodge >> new dodge >> any other car

  • PURE BEAUTY AND POWER!

  • reason why the new one doesnt have that "aggressive, menacing" look is because dodge has taken a route that makes their cars more appealing to the "baller" scene. why else would thay have released this car as an automatic only in the begining and added 20" rims? its ready for 22-24s and has a big body so it doesnt look disporportioned and body lines scream luxury not muscle... its sad really, they were once a frce to be reckoned with at the strip, now 1.6l I4 FWD cars beat them easily.

  • 2:27 why is the recent cars body kit reaching so far low i really hate that

  • THAT WAZS SO AWSHOME

  • The Hemi Cuda is the rarest and worth a mint in original mint condition ...

  • They can keep the new Challenger. Nothing beats an old school Challengers looks, feel and yes even the smell.

  • @ff85258 A scrapyard can it's a true shame there aren't too many out there anymore...

  • @MrRogers1771 Agreed it is a shame. My first car was a '71 340 auto 'cuda with 30k original miles. Not the 440 or 426 4-speed but for my first car it was pretty quick.

  • What does this thread have to do with Jap Crap anyways ? This is about a legendary 426 Hemi Challenger back in the day , Chrysler has a done a good job with the retro look on this car , then there is always the Viper ACR that owns anything from Japan , ...
