I've seen a lot of people use fondant on cakes. I've been wondering, does it taste good? Does it have a thick pasty like gum taste or does it melt quickly once you eat it?

fondant tastes horrribleee lol but its like play doe kinda but instead of salty its sugary, its stiff enough were u can scrap the frosting from it adn eat the frosting wit the cake, i personally think cakes look better wit it and you dont hav to eat the fondant cuz there is frosting underneath it

@glor31a like outoforder15 said, fondant isn'nice as buttercream or chocolate or whipping cream.... not even close. that's why i never use it. because i want my cakes tasting really good. i think it is handy to use fondant for childrens cakes, it has a sugary taste like plain candy that all kids love.

I also decorate cakes and you did a wonderful job for your age...it's a very hard yet fun job and so unappreciated by those who know nothing about how time consuming it can be on just one cake. Yours is much prettier than the girl from Ace of Cakes video with the many red layers. Keep up the good work!!

Nice cake but she has too much frosting under her fondant. How can I tell? I bake for a living and I made the same mistake the first time I started using fondant on my cakes. All in all you did good!
