I just saw the movie Insidious today! IT WAS TERRIFYING!!!!!! I heard that the same creators that made SAW and Paranormal Activity made Insidious so therefore I want to watch Paranormal Activity really bad! DOES ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW: Is Paranormal Activity scarier than Insidious?

The ending for Paranormal was agreeably more satisfying than Blair Witch.

In Blair Witch, you're left with a WTF feeling like you have no damn clue what the hell just happened.

That may help with the creep factor, but it's still anti-climactic.

This one is a lot more clear, while managing to sustain a certainly creepy feel.

We used to see GFX creatures/killers slash people on horror movies all the time, we forgot to use our own imagination. Blair Witch scared people with their own imagination, and ofcourse people who have limited minds thought it's bad cos they haven't seen anything in the movie. And about Paranormal Activity's ending, it was so cliche we all guessed what's gonna happen when she wanted to stay at home.

And my last words to you buddy, if an horror movie leaves u saying WTF, thats a good sign. :)

But at some point, you do pass some kind of a "threshold of ambiguity". Real horror flicks should leave you wondering and/or stunned. But when all you see is a guy standing in the corner facing the wall and everybody is screaming....you're creeped out....but unsatisfied.

I wasn't a fan of the theatrical ending of PA.

I'd have preferred either the original, or better yet, the "cut throat" ending that has never been shown. You'd be stunned and wondering what the hell happened to him downstairs.

dont agree. I think paranormal builds the tension waay more. during the day you feel the growing fear of the couple as it approaches night. And of course when the camera fast forwards then stops at 3:12:03am you just know something bad is going to happen, something worse than the previous nights. It is a different kind of fear. You know when it's going to happen but it's the tension the grows and grows during the night which makes it incredibly scary. And then stuff starts happening during the day as well so any moment during the film is a possible time for "paranormal activity" to occur

BANG! BOOM! LOUD NOISE! BOO! Oh my.....I'mma scared of the sound effects! Looks like another "startle-fest" with minimal plot and maximum volume. The sad part is that most "horror" fans will lap this up as if it is really frightening because they got hit with a few noisy jolts. Can't hold a candle to the Shining or the Exorcist. Those films placed the bar so high it's almost unfair to expect modern filmmakers to deliver those goods. But I can't help it. These films are weak.

A few sound effects? People aren't scared of the sound effects. The fear lies within the audience, and the director tapped into it, then laced it with great acting and excellent editing. It's not bullshit monsters, or creepy ghouls, or a big budget soft core porno (which is pretty much what 90% of horror films are nowadays). It's a genuine movie made on a very small budget. I loved it.
