Sorry but I don't like men for this, contraltos like Stutzman have really richest voices, this sounds very poor and small.Listen David Daniel in "Cara sposa" he is wonderful but NOT in this.
I actually like this tempo. So many dwell on and on and on. When it is so slow that even the best female contralti have to take three breaths in the first LINE of text, that lets one know it is moving too slowly.
By the way...just when may we expect the "Christmas Blessings" CD...as of last week no sign on the Priory website.....!!!my Christmas shopping plans are in serious danger of having to move to plan B.....and there is no plan B!!!!!!!
I heard the original broadcast and remember thinking that Jaroussky might have given a better interpretation (I was listening to a lot of his recordings at that time) but Daniels superbly restrained, focused, intelligent and deeply moving account of Bach's Agnus Dei is perhaps more to be preferred .
wow wonderfull, amazin, beautifull voice.

What in the world is that conductor doing? Out of time, and unconnected.

Much too fast tempo, bad conductor..very nice voice but much too light for this alto piece !!! this is not an Agnus Dei !
go to listen Ferrier or Stutzmann if you want to get emotions .
